From the Silence of Duchamp to the Noise of Boys is the first book of poetry by Michael David Quattlebaum, Jr. Comprised of a collection of poems written over the course of six years in a myriad of different cities, From the Silence of Duchamp finds the author at a critical juncture between a rebellious youth and a now nascent spiritual awakening. Quattlebaum's poetry draws heavily from folklore and oral traditions to challenge a contemporary indifference to spirituality. From the Silence of Duchamp is informed as much by Quattlebaum's own experience coming of age in the Pacific Northwest and as a runaway in New York at sixteen as it is by mysticism, metaphysics, and psychedelia. Quattlebaum's poems seek out a point of unity between the primitive energy of mystical rite and the raw vitality of youth.
