Devastated by the loss of her husband, Sara has spent the past two years devoting every waking moment to her nursing job, then collapsing in complete exhaustion at the end of each work day, all in an effort to avoid the pain of her loneliness. Her only escape is at the movie theater where she can momentarily forget her heartbreak and dream of a happier life, which more and more centers on an imaginary romance with Alex Fleming, her matinee idol. But matinee idols don’t live in the real world, and in Sara’s wildest dreams, their paths will never cross. Or will they?
In less than 24 hours I had a wonderful, romantic, European vacation. "Don't Tell the Moon" made me laugh, cry, and want to grab my passport and pack my bags. Stories in this genre tend to have one dimensional characters and lines that I could write myself. This book was not typical, I could feel Sara and Alex's emotions and I could hear the verbal sparring as if they were standing in my room, the ensemble shined through as well. I would love to spend more time with the "cheeky" Ian and his assistant Emily, coffee with Stuart and have wine with the girls. I really felt as if I had a wonderful mini European vacation. I recommend after a stressful day, grabbing a glass (or a bottle) of wine and letting Lily be your tour guide.
This book was o.k. for me. Not bad, but not great. It reminded me a lot of the 1980-90's Harlequin books I read when I first started getting into reading. It had a very similar style. The plot was kind of sweet if a little out there. There wasn't anything about the writing style that made it seem in the least realistic. It's ok as a sweet, escape from reality for a little while book.
2x sattunud lugema. Mõlemal korral sama arvamus tärnide osas. Isegi ei mäletanud, et oleksin lugenud... Muinasjutuline (isegi selleks liiga ulme fantaasia vms) pläust.
