A graphic nonfiction volume that introduces the properties of electrical energy. Features include several photographic pages, a glossary, additional resource list, and an index.
A superficial introduction to a lot of related ideas. But put it this way: I'm frustrated almost every day by how little I understand about electricity, how much it confuses me to study it. And yet this book taught me absolutely nothing new.
(Yes, I know it's for kids. But the awesome thing about being a lifelong learner is finding gaps in one's understandings... often by reading kids' books and having those gaps unexpectedly filled.)
We loved all the books in this series! They are told in graphic-novel style, which is always a hit with my boys … but these “comic books” teach you stuff at the same time. I read Electricity out loud to my five-year-old one afternoon, and immediately afterward he wanted to go play with his brother’s Snap Circuits (and, a half-hour later, emerged from his room with a rather complicated circuit he’d built!). I’m not sure how much knowledge is actually sinking in (these are kind of deep concepts, especially for the younger one), but they are learning that science is fun, and that’s good enough for me at this point.

Boasts one of the better character designs. Tons of great information on electic power, circuits, conductors, insulators, energy conservation (though very similar to that conservation chapter in the ENERGY volume).
