Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock KBE (1899-1980) was an iconic and highly influential film director and producer, who pioneered many techniques in the suspense and thriller genres.

Following a very substantial career in his native Britain in both silent films and talkies, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood and became an American citizen with dual nationality in 1956, thus he also remained a British subject.

Hitchcock directed more than fifty feature films in a career which spanned six decades, from the silent film era, through the invention of sound films, and far into the era of colour films. For a complete list of his films, see Alfred Hitchcock filmography.

Hitchcock was among the most consistently recognizable directors to the general public, and was one of the most successful film directors during his lifetime. He continues to be one of the best known and most popular filmmakers of all time.

Classic! I love Alfred Hitchcock's anthologies, so when I discovered this one at a used bookstore I had to snap it up. Plus, the title made me smile. The stories didn't disappoint. (They never do.)

I like to call this collection of short stories by various authors "deliciously malicious." Despite the synopsis, not ALL the stories involve outright murder, but each one has an element of deceit and depravity that would rival even today's writers' work.

Each story is by a different author, and even though the length and style varies, each tale is a wonderfully written account of deception and crime. Gory descriptions are not needed to convey each tale's horror since the suspense is effectively built up without it...and the twist endings that most stories ended with were done quite cleverly.

Overall, I really enjoyed this collection and despite its publication date, it never really felt all that dated. Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys crime novels.

Thought this one wasn't as good as some of the other Hitchcock collections at the beginning but several stories in the 2nd half were pretty solid stories. None are bad just some were kind of bland. Still a nice time waster and gave me a couple of author names that I haven't heard of to look up more from.

It's recommended though other collections under the Hitchcock banner are better.

Alfred Hitchcock was a genius at compiling these anthologies. His introductions are as entertaining as the stories. The only story, in this collection, that I didn't really care for was the first one.

What a fun read! Some noir, others leaning more on psychological horror but all were crime thrillers essentially.

A very good pick, will probably be checking other Hitchcock anthologies

Lots of good short stories, all very compelling and classic. I loved the cunning and clever writing styles of many of the author’s stories.
