Do you believe in reincarnation and a love that can last lifetimes?

I am actually very surprised at the amount of five star reviews this book has garnered. After reading them and the book's description I was super jazzed about the book but unfortunately, the quality of the writing forced me to give up on it only 20% in.
For example: "Sitting on my balcony, I watched the sun ride [sic] this morning. It was sort of nice. I got no sleep last night, just like the nights before. Not one wink. Thankfully I was off work today. Kerri had given me the day off so I could rest. It was Sunday and my Aunt Paulina and I had plans to eat breakfast together today." (and so on)
or
"Dallas I just can't let you take me home. I feel fine now. I can drive myself. I have to go."
or
"I danced up the stars to my apartment. I was wasted drunk on that kiss and I felt so good. Dallas really liked me! I couldn't believe it."
The stilted structure (WHY SO MANY SHORT SENTENCES?) reads like someone's poorly written diary about their uninteresting life.
Also, Sloat uses dialogue to give the background to the character's lives and it comes off as unnatural.
For example: "You're right Avery it sounds crazy. But I just think how weird it is that you haven't slept it all for three months straight... You lost your mom at a young age. You never had a father figure in your life. I think it's all catching up to you."
This book needed some serious editing and tightening up. There were multiple typos in the version I read (the Kindle edition, I can't vouch for the hard copy) including an appalling "your" vs "you're" mix up.
Isn’t that always the way? As soon as the guy you’ve been crushing on starts to show interest in you your husband from a past life shows up wanting to rekindle your love affair that has already spanned numerous life times. I mean really, the vows say “til death do us part.” Dude, move on already! But it won’t be that easy for poor Avery Snow. Instead her normal life is turned upside down in a wild journey through past lives, soul eating dark angels, breathtaking Angels fighting for good, and a cranky old man sent from Heaven to watch and protect Avery Obi-Wan Kenobi style. This novel has a premise that is cleverly original and ends with the teasing possibility of more to come. I, for one, would love to see these characters come back for another installment!
Warning: I have a lot of books to review so this is not a full review. It's more of a snippet of thoughts.
This should not be called The Many Lives of Avery Snow. It should be called The Many Tangents of Avery Snow. I lost place in the story several times simply because the author would go off on a tangent and then her tangents had tangents. By the time we got back to the main story line I couldn't remember what was important anymore.
The grammar and sentence structure is terrible, and the punctuation is random. My biggest complaint is the lack of knowledge on the proper use of comma, AND the run on sentences were terrible. Some sentences just kept going and going with no end in sight and you wonder if someone had to read this out loud, where in the sentence is there a place for them to breathe, because the author didn't use any commas... By all appearances there was no proof reading done before publishing.
The premise is sadly lacking as well. Perhaps if the idea behind the story was stronger the story would be stronger. I won't be reading the next, or any others from this author for a few years. I'd like to see some growth before I try again.
If there was some way of giving zero stars I would have done so. There's a lot of growing to be done with this author.
Now I am reviewing my own book because I want to say that to write a book is super hard and it takes alot of dedication. I had dreams of doing this since I was a little girl. And I did it!! YAY. Now some of you will not like it, and that is okay. I do read the bad reviews with perspective. But I do see readers putting authors down a lot! Bear in mind we work hard for our accomplishment's and although we enjoy your fresh perspective it can bring us down. As for the awesome five star reviews, all I can say is, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I will not give up. I have growing to do as an author. Avery Snow is a character that I cherish! Thanks so much everyone for reading it and giving it a chance.
The premise, while super scary, is not Biblically sound. I'm stating this because Heaven and angels play a very large part in the plot of this story. When using concepts from a religious work, it can be jarring to those who read and respect that work to see ideas from it used improperly.
The idea of the book is that there is such a thing as reincarnation and that every time this girl come back, one of her past loves comes back too, TRACKS HER DOWN, and takes over as the romantic lead in her life, regardless if she really wants him or not. (SUPER SCARY, props on that.)
Ok so far, but they are reincarnated after a stay in heaven. Which is apparently in an eternity with your family unit, spouse included.
Sorry, but there is no marriage in heaven. And heaven isn't about us, it's about God. God didn't really figure into the picture in this heaven.
Ok, maybe not the God or heaven of the typical Judeo-Christian background? But then angels. Who are pure until they directly contact the one they are watching over, then their feathers change colors?? And they care about who you end up with romantically? Nothing more important for angels to do with their time?
I am sorry, but the discord between the idea of heaven and angels and reincarnation took me out of the book too much to enjoy it. 2 stars, because the idea of a stalker throughout multiple lifetimes is unique and CREEPY. This isn't one I would recommend to others, unless the issues I had with it wouldn't bother them. I didn't find it horribly written, but I didn't gel with the religious aspects of it.
Is your soul mate your soul mate in this life only, or in every life for the rest of your life?
Avery Snow is your average girl. Average looks, average job. Of course she has a stunning friend who out-shines her at every turn. Until the dreams she can not remember start. Now she is no longer average. In fact, she is now a very non-average person who is terrified to sleep and even more terrified to find out what the dreams mean.
Once a girl who had no romantic future in sight, now she has the love of two men. One man is her past, and one her future....or is he? With the help of her Spirit Guide, Ianni, Avery finds out that one man has been sabotaging her heart and soul in every life. Now Avery must decide between what is right and what feels right.
A thrilling new twist book plot with Spirit Guides, past lives and demons, you'll pick up The Many Lives of Avery Snow and not turn back. You'll try to hate Kerri, the perfect best friend, but just can't seem too. You'll take sides for the men in Avery's life, but then change your mind two minutes later. And you'll, of course, fall in love with Ianni, the Spirit Guide.
Christy Sloat's first book is a great one. You'll find yourself waiting with bated breath for her next book! Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read my review. Have a great day! -Melissa A room without books is like a body without a soul. -Cicero
Not only do I love the whole reincarnation/ loves from past lives, the fact that preteen/teenager/adult could read this and it have the same feel as Twilight as far as reaching each maturity level. The characters.....OMGAWD! Some are weirded out by Landon and I'm not saying he's in the right but he just can't get over Avery.....and seems like she in a way can't get over him either....gotta read it to find out....
And those who loved before will be brought back together Those who loved before will be brought back together And so they say baby for everything a reason And so they say baby you will be brought Back to me.
WOWZA !!! Those five lines by Carina round is the perfect description to what 'The Many lives of Avery Snow' was all about for me . Ghosh , the story and the characters in this book were MASSIVE !! I loved every character , even the bad one's .. STRANGE ME HUH ?!! . So lets get on with this review before i forget what i have to actually talk about !!
The Many lives of Avery Snow is the story of Avery , a girl who's been through a lot of pain , agony and loss in life as a little girl . And whats worse is that her life has'nt gotten any better as an adult . Strange things have started happening lately . Strange dreams , insomnia , feeling of Deja vu and cold sweat . To make matters even more weirder , two really hot guys . Just imagine the blood rush that is felt when you cant seem to decide what or should i say who is it that your heart wants . What if its both because they both are important in a way that one can truly understand only by reading this book . What is going on with Avery ? Will she ever understand the things that she will be witnessing ? Who will she choose ? What does destiny has in store for her ? Will she be able to learn from her past and not make the same mistakes again , or would she succumb to her hearts desire and change the course of events ?? The answer to all these questions lie in this journey extraordinaire , that is the many lives of Avery Snow .
Cover- speak : Beautiful cover , very very pretty to look at . It describes the base and the foundation of the story in a very unique . When i looked at it , i was like , "wow , is'nt that very thought provoking ? " I absolutely loved it . Its serene and at the same time it gives you a feeling of loneliness , pain and sorrow . ( Maybe thats just how i saw it )
Things i really loved about this book :
1) Christy Sloat's writing style : I'm not a huge fan of authors who love beating around the bushes with concepts and ideas and theories . They make simple things look so damn complicated , to read them is almost as tiring as climbing a mountain . Not only that , they slow down the flow of the story , thus making the reader lose interest in the story . But Christy's writng is quick and perky ( Geez , i dont even know if its the right word to use here , but i felt it would describe how i feel about it ) . Anyways , what i really admired about her style was that her explaination of whats going on in the story is so simple , that it doesnt take a long time to figure out what she is actually trying to convey . Also the language is pretty simple ans easy to follow , in other words YOU DONT NEED TO SIT WITH A DICTIONARY . I mean i dont mind learning new words and meanings and all but sometimes it just gets too much to handle - really frustrating !! I also loved how she kept the flow of the story going on , not wasting too much time on just one thing . Theres so much happening that the reader is sucked into the story immediately . Also there were some pretty interesting twists and turns that i didnt expect . In short i love Christy's writing style , i'm a fan from here on !!!
2)Chain of events : Right from page 1 i was hooked onto what i was reading . I was trying to anticipate the turn of events and how the author would use the concept of "REINCARNATION" in the story . Like i said earlier , i loved the pace at which the story was progressing . Just when you thought you cant understand whats going on , it felt the author mind read your confusion and manages to answer it with ease .
3)Characters : I dont know if i liked Avery or not ! I mean , she really is not one of those MC that has a problem with accepting what nature has in store for her or what her life is all about . But i just dont see her as my fav MC , probably because of the way she treats one of the male characters * Clears throat * a certain Landon !! Speaking of whom , i just loved Landon's character . I would totally say this without shame , If definitely want a boyfriend/husband like him .. Ohh the things he does and has done for Avery , i cant even explain . As a reader i could feel his anguish , his sorrows , his need and love for Avery that travels across generations , dimensions and timelines ... What love , it bought tears to my eyes !! And thirdly , the other important male character Dallas , Avery's love interest . I dont hate him or dislike him or anything , but he is'nt Landon . Enough said . There are other certain other iportant characters too without whom the story would definitely be incomplete .
NOW to the messy part , things i didnt like : Just one thing , the ending !! *Dont get all panicky here , let me explain* . When you are reading the story , the end just zaps your heart making you go , "Oh come on . what the hell ? " , thats how i reacted . But then i thought , wait you dont have to disheartened !! The book ai'nt over yet , its a trilogy so we are sure to expect twists ans turns as we move along . That statement right there has given me hope that i might just see what i want to see . I know i sound all cryptic , but you will have to read the book to understand what i'm talking about .
The Many lives of Avery Snow was definitely and most absolutely a heart warming story . The emotions in this story are truly playing the right nores making you sing your heart out . Recommended to everyone who wants to escape from the clutches of Vampires , werewolves and all the usualness of what we read normally . You would not be disappointed , its definitely worth the shot !!
The Many Lives of Avery Snow is a great story! I have to say after reading the Novella I understood a lot more in the story when it came to Ianni. This is the first book in the series and I have to say it started with a bang and the series is totally going to be EPIC!
In The Many Lives of Avery Snow we meet Avery who is a 26 year old woman who has suffered so much loss in her life. Her father left the family when she was young and her mother died a few years later leaving Avery to be raised by her aunt Paulina. Avery lives a very simple life that most would call boring and full of nothing but Avery has suffered so much she prefers to be alone. Avery has a job working at Sunrise Estates where her boss Kerri is her best friend and one of the patients she cares for Lucy O'Shea is her best friend. She loves seeing Lucy everyday and spending time with her. That is until one day Avery goes to check on Lucy and Lucy dies in Avery's arms. Before Lucy dies she tells Avery that a man is looking for her from her past and he will stop at nothing to have her.
That is when Avery begins to have these vivid dreams that wake her up. She hates sleeping now because she never knows what she is going to dream about. Then she meets her spirit guide Ianni. Ianni decides she is going to help Avery out because the guy looking for her is not what he seems. Ianni shows Avery her past lives and tells her about the man stalking her dreams and her soul. As Ianni is talking Avery starts to have flashbacks and remembers who she was and who she spent time with. The man she spent time with wants her and he wants her to love him and for some reason before that happens something always happens and Avery never gives her love to him. Ianni will help Avery chose between good and evil because the dark spirits are hell bent on hurting Avery.
What will Avery do? Who will she chose to give her heart to? What will happen to Ianni? Will Ianni be able to help her? This is a must read story for all those angel lovers out there!
Ok, first things first. I want to set the record straight right off the bat: I'm not really into the romance genre, but this book just might have changed my stance/view on the genre as a whole. I mean, yes, maybe the love triangle thing is overdone (it's a common occurrence in romance novels), so it didn't bother me as much as it did in other stories. Plus, Sloat put a rather interesting twist on it. A lover of your past lives constantly finding his way back to you? Who would've thought?
Another thing that kept me engaged was the introduction of the angels, or Guides (Spirit and Dark ones). I love paranormal stories and this coupled with my growing interest in the reincarnation-centered stories, literally had me on the edge of my bed as the Dark Guides made their first appearance.
The dialogue was a bit choppy at times, but that only contributes to the simple life Avery was used to leading. She wasn't flashy or anything like that, so it was only natural for her to more reserved with her thoughts/conversation. Sloat did a great job developing the characters, through both dialogue and description of appearance. Despite the sassy attitude (and the general preference for Ianni), my favorite character has to be Lillith. Who wouldn't like a sassy Spirit Guide who doesn't mind bending the rules every now and then?
All in all, Sloat concocted an engaging and riveting introductory novel to the Trilogy. The first of the three is amazing, and it causes its readers to anxiously (I have a problem waiting for good books/sequels to be written, even though I know it takes a while) dive into the next installment. I can't wait to catch back up with Avery, Dallas, and Ianni (and hopefully Lillith).
First of all, the cover is gorgeous! It evokes an ethereal feeling which is the perfect tone for this story. The plot is also very interesting. The idea of past lives, souls, and spirit guides is truly fascinating. My heart breaks for Avery as she has lived with more pain and loss than anyone should have to. Her father leaves her at a very young age in a situation which makes it very hard for her to trust men. Then, several years later, she loses her mother. At the beginning of this book, Avery is suffering from a terrible case of insomnia. Her lack of sleep is bleeding into her everyday life, affecting her quality of life. She is a very lonely and somewhat desperate woman. She has one close friend and a close aunt. She keeps men at a distance because of her past. That is until one day when she happens to meet a very sexy and sweet stranger. He's a stranger, but is familiar for unknown reasons. At the same time, her secret crush from afar finally reveals his true feelings for her, which surprises her since she was convinced he was in love with her best friend. Suddenly, she is torn between these two amazing men. Slowly, secrets are revealed, helping Avery understand her mysterious circumstances. She learns about her past, but not her past in this life. She learns about her previous lives and discovers that the two men she loves were also part of those lives. She struggles to sort out the past and present so she can make sense of her life and destiny. There were parts of the story which really drew me in and kept me turning the pages. I really liked the characters and the story. I think Ms. Sloat is a very talented story-teller. There were some interesting stylistic choices made in regards to punctuation and some grammatical errors, but I try not to focus on those things too much because the story itself is really good. With some good hard editing, I think this book could easily be a four star or more book, and is the beginning of a very interesting series:)
Review for The Many Lives of Avery Snow by Christy Sloat
I was given this book by the author herself to review, first I want to say thank you Christy for this amazing chance to read your book!
Avery Snow was just another normal girl working at Sunrise Estates with her boss/ best friend Kerri. One day one of her friends Lucy that she takes care of dies but she delivers a message to Avery. Someone is coming after her from her past life. This man's name is Cooper, and he will stop at nothing to get her. So what do you do when someone is after you demanding that you be their's forever? Well for Avery she can not sleep because when she does she dreams and she thinks that these dreams are real. So she is afraid to sleep so that way she doesn't dream. The there is Lanni, Avery's spirit guide. Who is here to help Avery figure out what is going on. So Lanni takes Avery back to the past to find out who Cooper is and what he means to her. But there is another problem that Avery has. She already has someone to love and loves her in return, so now she is torn. As she is taken back into the past she has to decide who she wants to be with now in the present. She has Dark Guides after her, Lanni trying to get her to make the right choice, the one Avery's soul doesnt want. Makes you wonder if past will repeat itself.
I loved this book! As soon as I picked it up I couldnt put it down. It reminded me of twilight, and so many other books where there is a love triangle and always people fighting for some girl's love. This book is like the others but I think this deserves a ranking with twilight! IT would be as big as twilight if only people would give it a chance! You wont be disppointed!
Of course such a great book deserves a 5 star rating! If I could I would give it a higher one!
Avery can't sleep anymore and its wrecking havocs on her life, well if you can call it that. She is lonely and can only daydream of the local bartender, Dallas, falling in love with her. Yeah, as if that would ever happen. All he ever does is ask about her sexy friend Kerri. Then one day she meets Landon and Dallas also starts to show interest; things could be looking up for her after all. But when she is visited by her spirit guide she learns that Landon is not what he seems. Now Avery must decide who she should be with and if soul mates truly exist.
Gosh, isn’t it just awful to have two guys vying for a girl’s attention? Well, it’s really not as easy as that seems. I was back and forth the entire book on who Avery should be with. One moment I just knew she should definitely be with Dallas, only to second guess my decision and think Landon would be a good choice.
This book had a really interesting storyline. I loved the idea of past lives and people having a choice to be reincarnated when they go to Heaven. And the fact that Landon could remember each of his lives from the moment he is a little child was fascinating.
I did have a little trouble with some of the conversations between characters…like it wasn’t natural, forced almost. And I did notice quite a few typos.
But none the less, Sloat’s debut novel is an enjoyable read that will take you on a journey through past lives and into an uncertain future.
I really enjoyed the story and plot of TMLOAS! The idea of re-uniting with your soul mate in each life is such a romantic idea, but you also understand how Avery feels when she says she would like to love someone else. She's placed in a tough situation. The story is really one that makes you think and the author did a great job guiding the reader through Avery's troubles and triumphs. I do think that the editor of this book, didn't do their best work. There were quite a few simple mistakes that should have been fixed prior to sending the book to the print. I do NOT hold the author responsible for these though. I believe as a writer, she should have free reign to simply write her story and not worry about little mistakes here and there. I think its the job of the editor to fix these mistakes afterwards, and it was not done in the way that a good editor should have done it. Makes me wonder if whoever edited this book actually read it or just skimmed it? Again- I believe the author did an amazing job telling the story and should not be held responsible for the minor mistakes that add up throughout the novel, as it is the job of the editor to find and fix these mistakes prior to printing. Overall- a FANTASTIC story with interesting characters and a plot that keeps you guessing. Great job Christy!!
Spoilers!!!!!! Ok so I really don't know how to feel about this book. I like the idea of past lives, soulmates, and angels. My first big problem is Avery. She is an idiot and I just don't like her at all. She has no confidence, whines all the time, and is completely wishy washy. I am very annoyed by her. My second problem is Dallas. He comes off very weak and pathetic. Also there is no chemistry between him and Avery, their scenes together are so bland and lacking. The only main character that I loved was Landon, the author really made you fall in love and sympathize with him. I think what turned me off the most was Avery professing her love for Dallas so quickly. I mean seriously they had one date and she made out with Landon before she went on it. Wtf? She didn't even know Dallas well and she suddenly is in love and can't live without him! Like I said she is an idiot. I will probably read the next book just to see what happens with Landon. I hope the next book flows better and that chemistry lacking relationship between Avery and Dallas dissolves.
I have to say I loved this book! Its about a girl named Avery snow, she had a pretty sad life but she was content and happy. Until she watched a friend at the nursing home where she works dies and warns her about a man named Cooper that loves her and is coming to be with her, from there everything goes crazy. The man she has been crushing on tells her he likes her the same day she helps a man that turns out to be her husband from her past 3 lives. She is forced to decide between the man she has come to love in this life or her soul mate from all her past lives. This book is beautifully written and I cant wait for the next book in the series.
I am giving this book 4 stars, due to the errors I saw in reading the ebook copy. I mention it briefly because it really didn't take away from the story itself. It was a good read filled with so much content, without becoming confusing, and that can be rare. The characters were also well written. I came to care for them and felt so invested in their story. In many reviews I saw a lot of Landon haters, but I felt sad for him. I think he was trapped in his own memories and love. And who knows, maybe they might be able to stop the pattern that their lives had been taking. I do recommend this book for all YA paranormal fans, or any romance fan in general.
I have mixed feelings about this book. At first I thought the writing wasn't as smooth as I had hoped and in a couple part seem like she was repeating herself. However, by about 1/3 of the way in I got hooked and wanted to know what else happened to Avery Snow and Dallas (big Dallas fan). I can't wait to read more from Christy Sloat and I know that her writting technique and "smoothness" will improve. She has something that we all want. A GREAT idea for a love storey that you sit back later and think....what if that was me! Great job!
not worth the download unless you don't mind grammatical errors, word misuse and stream of consciousness journal style writing. a good premise poorly executed, the novel needs the hand of an experienced editor to bring it to its full potential. I read this on my kindle and only made it to chapter 14. I spent most of the time reading it making editorial notes and decided that since I was enjoying editing it more than actually reading it, it was time to put it down.
All I can say is wow!...I just read the ebook of The Many Lives of Avery Snow and its the most amazing read. The suspense, the wording, and the description of what is going on to the characters is breathtaking. I guarantee that this read would make you believe in the enduring and undying possibility of true love.
The Many Lives of Avery Snow kept me wanting to read on and on to find out what exting things were going to happen to Avery next. This book is very well written and I would highly recommended it to readers of all ages. It makes us want to believe there is more out there!!
I can't finish this book. The characters read like robots. I don't care for the dialog and find myself rolling my eyes constantly, which makes reading difficult.
I was particularly fascintated by this new series because its about past lives, twin souls or affinity's, as they are known. I feel the author really gave an acurrate description of what twin souls are and the connection, or pull, that these rare souls have in each life, always finding each other from one life to the next regardless of other lovers or spouses they would already have in that life.
In this intriguing first book in the series, Avery Snow is just an ordinary young woma, living an ordinary life, not much family to speak of except for her Aunt Pauline and a father she hasn't seen since she was a child. Her closest and only friend, Kerri, is also her boss. Avery is a caregiver at the local retirement village. Her favorite resident, Lucy, passes away suddenly and Avery's life starts going to hell. Lucy gives Avery a warning just before she takes her last breath, about a man named Cooper and someone watching her. After Lucy passes away, Avery begins having a hard time sleeping, sometimes only getting by with 3-4 hrs of sleep a night. Then one night, Avery recieves a visit from an unlikely visitor, her Spirit Guide, an angel named Ianni. Avery is convinced her encounter was just a bizzarre dream, but when the things Ianni told Avery start emerging and becoming true, Avery is just a bit freaked out. Before she knows it, Avery is in a bizzarre love triangle, with cousins; one man being Dallas, someone she's had a crush on for over a year, and Landon, her twin soul and husband/lover in her previous 3 lives. Avery must choose between what she wants and what she feels compelled or pulled to do and that is to stop fighting fate and join Landon in this life as well. Things become more difficult when Ianni feels it necessary to fill Dallas (Avery's crush and now boyfriend) in on this crazy situation and Dallas is actually supportive and willing to help Avery make the right decision. I like Dallas, he's really a stand up kind of guy. On the other hand, Landon is paid a visit from his Spirit Guide, Lillith, who wants Landon and Avery to be together again in this life and therefore shows herself to Landon, and tells him everything. So, now everyone is on the same page, but not necessarily wanting the same things. Avery loves both Dallas and Landon and both men love Avery, but more importantly, both men WANT TO BE WITH Avery. Everything is complicated and Avery is beyond confused. And if things couldn't get any more crazy, Dedrick and Benjamin, Dark Guides who thrive off of souls in sadness and despair want Avery and Landon's souls because Twin Souls, Affinity's, make these dark guides more powerful. All decisions on who she should be with are put on hold when Landon's soul is in jeapordy of being taken by Dedrick and Avery must enlist the help of an angel not afraid to break the rules, a psychic, a Watcher, and another Affinity.
This was a great story of love, loss, truth, and destiny. Anyone who is intrigued with past lives will love the accuaracy of this story and anyone who is not familiar with past lives will love learning about what Affinities are and how the people who are in our lives now have always been with us. I give this 5 stars.
The many lives of Avery Snow (Past lives trilogy book 1) Christy Sloat Reviewed by S. Bree High
All right so when I first started reading, I thought hmm? Am I going to get into this book? So I just read it and then before I realized it, I had read the whole book. I mean honestly it was as if I was under the spell of the book and could not stop. The story started opening up and the more I learned the more invested I became. Now I want book twotoday!
I have read several books that play around with the past lives and soul mates. I have to say though Christy Sloat gave it a new spin and facelift. I found the storyline very romantic and enjoyable. Avery today is on her fourth life. (A boring life, her father is gone and her mother passed) Her lives span back to the 1800s in the story. She was married to a man named Henry and she loved him, with devotion and utter love. The heart wrenching type of love we all want. They had a life together with children and happiness. After this life together on earth ended in heaven they were given the chance to start over again. Avery made the choice to start over. I did not feel Henry would have made this choice. He just could not live without her so he chose this too. Henry now keeps finding his way back to her. I admit I shed a few tears with the flashbacks in the book and the story of the two of them and it was so touching and heartbreaking all at the same time.
Moving to today, we have a problem. Landon is present day Henry and he has the memory of a woman he loves. Avery has fallen in love with Dallas. We have demons after her soul and running amuck. Spirit guides or Angels (Lanni) in and out of the picture and Avery is well a hot mess. Lanni is supposed to help Avery live the life she is suppose to live. Help guide her on the correct path this time. I found Dallas to be a sweet guy, and his kindness won me over. Honestly if I were Dallas I am not sure I would have been into Avery. I think I would have given up but he again like I said was kind and I really liked that about him. Of course though you know we have a love triangle. I mean come on one she loves, and one well he is her soul mate. He is her Henry. Are they going to end up together? Do they choices they make change the lives of others? I found all of this to be completely interesting and again, new spin! I am not going to let you in on anything else here but trust me, its good! R eally good! Like you need to read this book and read it today good.
I really like the way Christy writes, the story flows nicely and you are drawn in. I was screaming at Avery, rooting for Dallas and crying for everyone. I was asking my Kindle why? I am pretty sure at times the characters answered me...again I read this book non-stop. Do not judge! I am invested in them now and I want to know what happens next. I am a fan and I am so glad that I was asked to read this book and I am looking forward to see what is next. Read it and love it, review it!
Now I want book two…today!
I have read several books that play around with the past lives and soul mates. I have to say though Christy Sloat gave it a new spin and facelift. I found the storyline very romantic and enjoyable. Avery today is on her fourth life. (A boring life, her father is gone and her mother passed) Her lives span back to the 1800’s in the story.

So, here's the thing: I LOVE THIS BOOK. In fact, I may very well love it obsessively. I hatehatehate spoilers, so I won't bother, and if you want a summary, you can read, well, the summary, but the bottom line is The Many Lives of Avery Snow is profoundly beautiful, intense, meaningful, creative, and inspiring. The plot flows, the characters are exquisitely-developed, and I'm absolutely dying for another book.
That said, I gave it 4 stars...NOT for the author, the writing, the story, what-have-you, but for the publishing house. There is NOTHING WORSE than a book that has a WORLD of potential, a story that draws you in, and characters you fall in love with...but the editing stinks. And it does. The format stinks. The layout stinks, the typeset stinks, I'm not a fan of the cover...even the quotes on the back of the book are poorly phrased and incorrectly punctuated. If I were to see this book in a bookstore, pick it up and peruse just the cover, I'd put it back down. That saddens me deeply...particularly because it really is such a phenomenal story with so much promise and potential.
Kudos to the author - she gets 5 stars for the material - but shame on the publisher for bringing the book down to 4 stars; they really need to up their game lest they damage the careers of some of their best and most inspiring authors.
If you can wade through editing and formatting issues, you have yourself an amazing winner of a book, I promise!
I really love the awesome cover and the title of this book. I couldn’t wait to start reading it, and I finished it in less than a day.
Spirit guides with wings that change color, malevolent dark guides that steal souls, reincarnation, a fascinating take on Hollywood celebs, and a love that spans over lifetimes, are only a few of the elements that makes “The Many Lives of Avery Snow” an intriguing story with an easy to follow plotline. The few flashbacks Avery and Landon have of their past lives together added more color to the story, and all the loose points got tied up nicely at the end; but there is also enough of an open ending left to be continued in book two of the series. These, of course, were the highlights for me, but unfortunately there were also a few negatives along the way, which I feel necessitates the three-star rating.
Although this story has an interesting premise, my personal opinion is that it lacks depth. Some of the main characters were a little flat, but a few of the secondary characters were more likeable. At times I found the pace a bit slow, with too many repetitive details and way too much exposition that didn’t leave a great deal to the imagination.
Even though it ended up not being much to my taste, “The Many Lives of Avery Snow” held my interest straight to the end. Christy Sloat’s simplistic writing style makes for an engaging read suitable for the younger paranormal romance reader.
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. After reading and loving Ianni, I just had to read this book! It was great! I feel that people of any age could relate with this New Adult novel and would love it. My favourite parts are the reincarnation themes. I'm a huge believer in reincarnation so I found these parts of the book extremely interesting. I just wish when we are reincarnated that we could remember our past lives, it would be so great. The characters rocked! I think for me by reading Ianni first,I had a better grip on who the characters were and what there backgrounds were. The part that I didn't like too much was how little Ianni was present, but then again she got her own short story lol. I found Lilith to be in the novel quite a bit. Mostly it was about Avery and her love interests, not that I'm complaining. I preferred Dallas to Landon because I felt that sometimes Landon was portrayed as a bad guy for never wanting to lose Avery and by continuing to "stalk" her forever. Overall, I enjoyed this quick, cute read, and I can't wait to read the next one. It was a great series to get lost in. I just am super curious who Avery will end up with in the end. Again, it's a great read for people of all ages.
This book is AMAZING! It gave me an insight to something I hadn't ever considered, even though it is not written on real life experiences (or is it...you wouldn't ever know!)..... it gave me hope, thoughts, inspiration, and made me wonder. I loved Avery and all that intrigued her. I am a Dallas luv, not so much Landon...yep yep, I know! But the book left me wanting more, I can't wait for the second book and I will be following Christy Sloat to see what else her amazing mind creates! This is a must by for more than one reading genre, it will intrigue you!
After re-reading this, I still am spellbound from the book, absolutely spellbound. I know the short Novella "Ianni" is coming out, and she is working on TMLOAS book 2, and I can't wait. It really has been a book that left me questioning my thoughts about life. Phenomenal.
I loved this book. Avery is every girl next door. She is smart, beautiful, and down to earth. There is a richness in the writing the sucks you in and makes you a part of this story. While I was reading I felt drawn into Avery's life and her struggle to become herself and her conflicts on making the people in her life happy. I haven't decided if I am Team Landon or Team Dallas, I struggle with this the same as Avery does. I waver in the past and in the present. I highly recommend this book to people of all ages. And I await the sequel with bated breath. My hats of to Christy Sloat on an amazing job of getting her readers hooked. This is one series I am in till The End.
