Three divorces should teach a man something, but hotel heir Cal McIntyre can't figure out what. Then a flashy redhead – the kind he adores – shows up. Since he's off women, he reluctantly takes a bet to seduce her. One more hook-up won't matter. Especially with this temptress.
But Amanda’s hair is dyed and she’s not about to be seduced. Her younger sister gambled with an heirloom engagement ring, and Cal won. If Amanda has to drug him to retrieve the ring and save her sister's marriage, so be it.
She doesn't count on Cal's kisses awakening a long-banished sexuality. Lucky for her, he passes out before she gets carried away. She escapes with the ring and virtue intact. Now to forget him.
But Cal tracks her down. And tells her he bought the ring. From her sister. Worse, someone stole diamonds worth millions after she knocked him out. Cal wasn’t the only one set up.
There must be an explanation, but her sister can't give it; she's vanished. Now Amanda must help Cal find her sister or go to jail. She's determined to protect her sister, and he's determined to recover his diamonds. Sparks are about to fly.
Lives with her guy and cat on an island off the Georgia coast.
Cheryl's first novel was TREACHEROUS BEAUTIES, a romantic suspense under the pseudonym Cheryl Emerson. Released by Silhouette (Harlequin), it was made into a television movie. Since then she’s written three more romantic mysteries, a paranormal romance, and two humorous mysteries based on her years in a Georgia tax commissioner’s office.
Overall I enjoyed this book. There were parts that were a bit slow for me and it took me a minute or two to get attached to the characters. By the end I was ready to finish, to find out WHAT happened and how it all went down. I think that parts of it were very predictible but that it was still enjoying. The lead male was a bit toooooo controlling for my cup of tea but I can see why he was that way ... so it's doable. If there was a half ranking I'd give this a 3.5.
This is a re-read review and again I will tell you how much I have enjoyed the mystery presented by Cheryl B. Dale in her book Set Up. As I said in my first review I had thought of various solutions to this mystery starting with Chapter 12 but Cheryl twisted me back and forth until the final two chapters. I'm sure other readers have already shared how much they have enjoyed this book as a mystery and therefore all I have left to add is - for you to enjoy...
I downloaded this for free from Amazon. I really enjoyed the twist and turns of the story and the development of the the relationship between Amanda and Cal.
