Need to leave your hometown and move to Vegas and become a stripper?

This is the life of Maggie, leaving her hometown after owning money to an annoying lawyer, she finds herself living out of a van and the only job she can get is a stripper. On her first and only night, she meets Chase. Grumpy, ex-military builder that is trying to escape his demons. Their story is wild and fun.

This book is a good read, but not my favourite. I enjoyed it but I think if it wasn't so rushed at the start I would have enjoyed it more. It was hard to get into at first, but couldn't stop reading. Chase needs help, and the fact he's so explosive with his emotions and honesty had me sacred as a read. I was cheering for him the whole book to get help, especially during these issues. Maggie needs some help too. Both characters are struggling with their own issues but I wanted to see a bit of understanding of their issues and not sweep them under a rug.

I was triggered by Chase's behaviour at times and the whole issue with Steph.

That being said, I will be reading every other book in this series.

If you are triggered by these things, please be aware:

- Abusive behaviour ( while understandable from both characters, it felt it was walking the fine line between toxic and abusive.

-Stalking

-Mental health issues

Thank you to Booksiren for this opportunity and for letting me review this amazing book

After Maggie's grandma passes, she inherits her trailer, along with all of her debt. Her grandparents raised her in a small town in Idaho, but Maggie has always wanted to be a chef. Only problem is she has no way to afford college. Maggie decides to load up her dog and van and head to Vegas in hopes of finding a decent job. But that's not what happens. Maggie ends up working in a brothel, and that's where she meets Chase. Chase is a contractor who takes the crew out after a hard day's work. He is drawn to Maggie, but Maggie wants nothing to do with him. But things change when Maggie takes a job working for Chase and they get to know one another. This book was really cute, I loved the plot and characters, and had a lot of fun reading it.

It felt like there was a bit too much packed in this. Micro trope upon micro trope if you will.
I found the FMC's negative views of herself overly obnoxious and her character arc barely shifted in that regard.
It just wasn't for me

Fun, sexy romcom set in Las Vegas

Both Fingers Crossed is the third title in Anna Alkire’s Montgomery Brothers series but works well as a standalone title.
Maggie Soloski was raised by her grandmother in a trailer in Idaho, being constantly judged because they were poor. Following her gran’s death, Maggie is alone and left with debt repayments that threaten to leave her homeless. Maggie’s passion is cooking and she has long hoped to go to culinary school but, for that, she needs money, which all her hard work at the diner is not getting her. Packing up her minivan, Maggie leaves Idaho with her little dog Toto. Her plan to raise the money that she needs fast is to find work in a Las Vegas brothel. Despite fierce competition, Maggie is accepted to work at The Dirty Rabbit Ranch brothel.

Chase Montgomery is an ex-army veteran who flips houses for a living whilst also helping and giving work to other vets. He works hard but he also drinks hard and doesn’t do relationships. This hunk of a man is grumpiness personified and is pretty angry with life. When his workmates wants to visit a brothel he takes them to The Dirty Rabbit Ranch not intending to join in with their fun, until he spots the girl who looks as though she desperately doesn’t want to be there.

Both Fingers Crossed is written from the perspectives of both Maggie and Chase and both characters are well developed, both having relatable flaws and qualities. Although they meet at the brothel, following that the sexual attraction between Maggie and Chase is fairly slow-burn as neither wants to get emotionally involved. The storyline is fun and moves at a good pace; I didn’t want to put this book down! I would definitely recommend Both Fingers Crossed to anyone looking for a good romcom that has a good bit of spice!

Hmm, had high hopes for this one, however, it didn't do the trick. The writing style was different to what I normally enjoy, but evidently it was the story and characters that didn't do it for me. From the summary, I had an idea of the situations the MCs will be in and was ready and intrigued. Unfortunately, the execution was not to my taste, I could not (and did not) want to connect with the characters and I was not rooting for the couple at any point.

Also, when I read "after one explosive night together, he can't let her leave either", I am assuming a zexy situationship, after which our H is taken with h, and while grumpy and rude and traumatised and whatever (cause, anger issues) he metaphorically cannot let her go. Now, I don't mean to imply that he forced her into anything, but, the way he went about things in general from the very beginning, put me off..For example, h says that she won't share her cell number with H and that she isn't interested at this point at least, to have s*x with him. And then..

“I’m telling you no,” she said. “If you can’t respect that, then I need to go.”

He pounced forward, pulling her against his front. She squealed and struggled, the dog snarling and twisting in her arms. He pulled the cell phone out of her back pocket then let her go.

“I’m getting your cell number,” he said, pretending to be reasonable. “The rest of it we’ll figure out later.”

Rating: ⭐/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Chemistry: 🧪🧪🧪🧪/5
Plot: 1/5

Series:

Place: Las Vegas, NV

Tropes: Sex Worker, Construction Owner, He Fell First, Military Vet, Miscommunication

TW: Grief, Stalking, Kidnapping, Drug Abuse, Alcoholism, PTSD, Angry Outbursts, Sex Work, Brothel, Manipulation, Drunk Driving

Main Characters: Maggie & Chase

This book was all over the place. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Maggie and Chase couldn't have been the more opposite of people. I don't think they should have been together. He was too hot and she was too ready to run. And she did. Multiple times. Miscommunication is the name of the game throughout this whole book.

If you have any triggers I would highly suggest you not pick this up. They are all over the place. This was just a jumble of things that someone threw into a bag and shook around. Instead of showing how things are actually being dealt with it's not even touched about what is being done. Chase is trading angry outbursts for sex. I don't think that is the healthiest form of dealing with his PTSD.

Maggie is a door mat. She lets everyone but chase walk over her. Even her "best friend." And then later another leech. She allows these people to get away with their toxicity and continue to use her however they see fit.

I wasted way too much time reading this and am sad that I could have been reading something that would have been soooo much better.

Maggie inherited a trailer and a load of debt after her grandmother passed away. She had been brought up by her grandparents, in a small town in Idaho, but dreamed of becoming a Chef, if only she had the means to put herself through college.

She set off for Las Vegas in her ancient minivan, with her dog, and her dreams, hoping to get a decent job, but finds herself with a job at a brothel.

Chase, a successful building contractor with anger management issues, takes his team to the brothel after a hard days work, and takes a liking to Maggie, but she is not interested in him, or anyone else for that matter.

Maggie accepts a job from Chase, however, but their relationship is very tenuous until they start to get to know more about each other.

I read this book in just over 24 hours, and only put it down when I had to. I loved the storyline, and getting to know both of their background stories, which helped me to understand their characters better.

Maggie, trailer trash, and Chase, a home builder suffering from anger management issues and PTSD, are unlikely to form a relationship. Maggie wants a family so badly and Chase needs someone to center him. Maggie leaves Idaho to try to go to culinary school in Las Vegas. She starts out in a brothel trying to get some money and ends up with Chase.

I love Maggie’s work ethic and ability to do most anything. She is proud and stubborn, insisting on living in her van after Chase has offered her a job and a place to stay with him. She can cook, bake, clean, arrange his bookings and his emails. I love how he tries to control his anger issues and how Maggie accepted him as he is. There is a lot of humor and a lot of love in this book. The events are very complex and gave me a lot to think about. I love all the characters from the friend from the brothel who drugs her, her friend from Idaho who kidnaps her, Chase’s cousin that invades his life, his work crew and his loving family. Great book!

I finished this mostly because I rarely DNF and because I wanted to see how it ended, this definitely was a book that stretched and exceeded my comfort zone. I don’t want to discourage anyone from reading this book, but go in knowing this isn’t a sweet and fluffy romance.

The blurb had me expecting some questionable choices by the characters, but in actuality I’d classify the storyline as dark grey for my tastes. Chase has some serious anger issues and regardless of his reasons or background, he crosses lines on several occasions. I was very uncomfortable with the author’s storytelling putting Maggie at risk or in non-consensual circumstances again and again. At one point I was worried this was going to turn into a Dateline episode where the young woman meets a tragic (and avoidable) end.

Yes the characters end up in a HEA and Maggie never gets physically hurt, but I really don’t consider this a book to be a romance.

No.
Are we seriously supposed to like either of these characters or their situation? Is it supposed to be gritty and endearing because to me it was gritty and annoying and even a bit on the depressing side.
She leaves where she is in her gross minivan that only runs randomly, with her dog, mountains of debt, and the goal of culinary school. She goes to Vegas to work at a brothel but can't do it. Chase is trying to get his construction company off the ground but he's an unorganized mess that drinks too much and has other employee, friends, & family problems. He wants her, she doesn't want him, sorta. He continually tries, she continually leaves and he has to come rescue her and she's mad about it. She's a stubborn tease and he's a jerk that thinks he's doing the right thing.
Ugh. I got 35% of the way through and quit. I'm mad I even wasted that much time on it. I didn't see it getting any better, or at least better enough for me to actually like it.
I did not finish and I'm definitely deleting.

Polar Opposites Instant Attracting in a Meet Very Not Cute!

This book was very hard for me to get into given that Maggie meets Chase while she is "trying to work" in a Vegas brothel after escaping her debt ridden trailer on a night where he is trying to escape his demons. But they somehow hit it off and she somehow leaves with him but then has second thoughts. I stuck with it though, and it turns out that I was glad I did. She is very hard working and has admirable goals - just never had a family to support her, and it was their debts she was escaping - not hers. And Chase has a loving family, a growing business, and is also hardworking with a heart of gold - trying to help other veterans like himself with PTSD. Once the reader realizes this, and how they emotionally support each other you begin to root for them as a couple. And the background characters add comedic relief from the serious of their issues. Overall I enjoyed this book, despite the slow start. Enjoy!

Quick Snip:
Maggie is down on her luck, running out of money and turns to a different city (Las Vegas) to start a new life. While starting her new life, she meets Chase. Chase is a controlling contractor who offers Maggie a new life. Can she agree to his terms?

The author's description of this book drew me in. I was excited to start reading this book, but it took a minute for me to understand what was happening. Overall, I liked the book, but I wanted more from the individuals. I feel like their backgrounds were washed over pretty quickly, more known about Maggie than Chase.

I would recommend this book to a specific demographic of a reader who wants an easy read and who doesn't want to overthink the characters.

Seriously ? . . .

Maggie Soloski lost her grandmother and, with only a trailer and lots of debt, she decides to go to Vegas and get a new start. (I honestly couldn’t see her new “job” as a new beginning or anything positive when her career goal was to be a chef??) Anyway, she and her dog, Toto, head for Vegas and her new job at The Dirty Rabbit Ranch brothel. (The details about the job turned my stomach.)

Chase Montgomery is a contractor described as angry and barely functioning. His favorite part of his job is demolishing things. He has definite control issues. Lots of drinking doesn’t seem to improve him much. And when he meets Maggie at her new job, he is interested.

This is not a warm-fuzzy kind of book. Both of these characters needs to get their lives straightened out. This much negativity is not my kind of book. No thanks.

I enjoyed Chase and Maggie's rollercoaster romance.
Maggie has hit rock bottom after her grandma dies leaving her in debt and an old camper van.She takes of to Las Vegas to earn money and put herself through culinary school.
She ends up joining a brothel and that is where she meets Chase. They have one night together and he is hooked. He offers her a job and she reluctantly takes it.
Chase suffers from PTSD which makes him angry very quickly and Maggie has her own issues to sort out.The more time they spend together they start to understand each other.
There are tears,laughter,emotions,
friendships, and a happily ever after.Loved Maggie's dog toto.
This romance has all the feels and i could not put it down.
Cannot wait for Anna's next book.

The beginning of this book was a bit rushed that I did find it difficult to get a grasp of the story and get to know the main characters.

Beyond that, I did enjoy reading about Maggie and Chase and their complicated/complex relationship. Chase is a controlling man who has major issues while Maggie also has major issues but her issues are mainly due her poor upbringing and financial issues she has. Her financial issues are the reason she runs away to Vegas and become a prostitute at the bunny ranch which is where she meets Chase.

They are attracted to one another from the get go and as the story continues their separate issues do cause them to have miscommunication and problems between them. It isn't until towards the end that they sort of get their shit and work things out. By no means are they the perfect couple but they do work together to make things between them work.

Chase needed to find his ROCK!!!

Chase needed to find his ROCK! This is the third Montgomery brother! This is about Chase and Maggie. Maggie has decided to move away and head to Vegas to try to go to culinary school. She may not have a lot of money, but she does have determination. Unfortunately, once arriving there she came across a brothel and decided to give it a try of course that was not her thing, but that was where she met Chase. He just needed to let out some steam and have his worker bees do the same, when it came time to select, he chose her because he noticed she didn’t belong. He never thought she would be the anchor that settled him, but with time that is what she became until the past come to light.

I wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did!

Being a mood reader it did take me a small bit to get into the book but there was spice from the beginning and I was hooked!!

Maggie is out here trying to get money for her dream course and I admire what she’s willing to do to get there when she gets knocked down she’s gets back up again!

Chase is a smidge grumpy, very clingy and you know probably a red flag but by god is he HOT 🥵

This is a very fast paced book it’s so good for a quick and easy read!!

Only thing I will say is that some parts read like a Wattpad/ fanfic book

Overall this story is wild and fun. I noticed only once I started that this was part of a series, which I haven't read in advance, so bear in mind that your experience may be different.

Both characters seemed to have a lot to unpack and I feel like I would have gone a bit deeper on that direction. This being said, I found the book to be an easy and fast read, maybe a bit too rushed at some points but with an entertaining story line.

This is in my opinion a solid 3 stars.

Not quite a romcom, this book was very different than I was expecting.

Chase, a veteran, has anger and boundary issues. Maggie finds herself in a bleak financial situation. Her dream is to become a chef, so she heads to Vegas. But first, she needs to make some money, so she heads to a brothel. There she meets Chase as a client. He is interested in her, so he offers her an opportunity. Ultimately, these characters find something they need in each other.

Another super cute rom com featuring a third Montgomery brother. This one started out spicy from the start and it didn’t let up! It was filled with the usual fun banter and witty remarks, it was also heartwarming and put a spot light on PTSD in relationships. I really do love this series and enjoyed the Easter eggs of the other brothers from the first two books giving a peak into what they have been up to. I hope there is more to come because I can’t get enough! This is an ARC and I’m voluntarily leaving this review.

The first couple of chapters were unlike anything I have ever read before! The storyline made me laugh, shocked me, and even compared it to my life.

Maggie just wants to be surrounded by people who care about her and she struggles with her own self-worth. Trying to get her footing at a Brothel brings her to meet the one person she needs.

Her upbringing made her feel not quite good enough until she met Chase. Chase was struggling with his own demons as a veteran. They make the perfect couple together, but only if they can get over themselves. The ending was perfect!

The bones were there

This had so much potential, but fell flat for me. I think there was just too much that was unrealistic. From the conversation style to the random far fetched plot devices, it was just a bit too unrealistic.

The characters developed too fast. We weren't given enough info. For the info we were given and the timeline presented it just didn't work. Things felt rushed between the characters. There wasn't the charming, witty banter or heavy sexual tension. It was just a lot of telling and not showing.

Both Fingers Crossed is book 3 in the Montgomery Brothers series but works fine as a standalone. Maggie is down on her luck and moves to Vegas to attempt to go to culinary school. Her financial desperation leads her to a job in a brothel. There she meets Chase, a contractor who offers her a different option. She accepts the job in spite of the difficulties dealing with his PTSD issues from his military service and his abrasive personality. Although not the perfect couple on the surface, they found what they needed in each other. It was an entertaining story.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I love these story. I couldn't put the book down. Great characters that will pull you into their story and pulls at your heart strings and emotions! Chase and Maggie have great chemistry and some emotional baggage too. This story has drama, heart, hope, love and family. The story flowed effortlessly with a few twists and turns that will keep you glued from start to finish.

Chase and Maggie’s story sure starts out rocky and explosive. Chase is chasing demons from the military and Maggie is chasing dreams of culinary school. Except she’s broke and he’s not looking for a relationship but can’t seem to help himself take in hard luck cases. As they work together tension builds to a happy ending and a nice wrap up for the Montgomery clan. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I did not really enjoy the first few chapters of this book, but when I got into it further I enjoyed the story and dynamic between Chase and Maggie.

They both were dealing with their demons and it put their relationship is a rocky place, causing a lot of drama. There was some spice in this book, although nothing too heavy.

Maggie.. a small town girl who's had more bad luck than most, attempts to get a better life in Sin City. Chase.. a veteran struggling with PTSD meets her and they embark on a drama filled path together, healing each other along the way. It's a story full of stubbornness, heartache, passions and hilarity. This story is a highly recommended read for fans of Romance, Romantic Comedy, and Drama.

this one went for shocking first thing

Loved this story so much even if it started out super sketchy. I can understand the boundaries and not the anger. I think this was my favorite brother out of the 3 I have read so far. I am unsure about why it wasn’t addressed about her fear of heights again when he brought her to eat on an 11th floor. Renovating homes is hard work but so rewarding.
