Containing seven different experiments to help readers understand the chemistry being described on its pages, this book will have high appeal for young readers because of the many pop-ups, pull tabs, and cartoonish illustration that make the chemistry even more intriguing. The opening pages even have brief notes explaining how chemistry is practical. Lessons on the three states of matter--solid, liquid, and gas--explain the process of evaporation and show the difference in molecules in these different states. While some might assume that all chemical reactions are loud, the book also shows how a cake baking is a simple example of chemistry. This one is a must-have for the elementary and middle school classroom library shelves.
