The gif speaks for itself. My emotion is on whirlwind that I don't really know what to do. I wept after reading it and I went to bed still weeping over it and when I woke up I remember I've read this and wept all over again.
I never really thought that this book would affect me this much. I mean, it really mess up my emotions and all. I don't really know where to start my review. Just remembering that I've read about Kei and Cab is enough for my tears to well up again. But anyhow, it’s just so beautiful and all.
Kei and Cab's world revolve on different axis. They could not be more different until they met each other and they form a bond that is unbreakable.
Kei dedicated her life helping other people. She lives and works in Uganda doing missionary works with her parents and she has this positive outlook in life that affects people greatly. I love her for having the attitude of being stubborn at the same time passionate and held her own ground. Cab on the other hand is the famous hottie-movie star which is accustomed to luxury. Until he meet Kei. He is shocked on how the real world looks and goes on. At first, I was really doubted by Cab's intention to Kei and I can't help but be skeptical about him, but despite all of that I end out adoring him.
They're a very adorable but very unlikely pair. It seems that the world was all up against on their relationship but somehow being together makes them learn a lot of things about each other and the real world. With their similarities and few differences, it was nice seeing them getting a taste of what each other go through. Their romance takes them across the worlds mostly in Europe. Seeing this two being together makes you take a sigh and think things are finally now in order.
The mood of the book was pretty unpredictable for me. I never really know what would happen next because even the characters are very much unpredictable. The overall mood here was pretty nice. The heartwarming moments are thoroughly mixed with the serious ones. There are a lot of adorable and swoony scenes that make me grin like a fool and smile from ear to ear.
I may have mentioned good things about this book, but there's one downside despite of that all and it’s that mighty ending. I wasn’t really happy about it! It mess me up and my emotions and my everything. I don’t want to elaborate more for the fear of spoiling it for you all but Gah! I just really don’t understand it. Why do they have to end things that way? It’s breaking my heart just recalling it.
I wanted to read it over and over again but I don’t want to cry no more so I'll steer away from it for awhile hah! :D Anyhow, Collision was really an incredible and beautifully written book (aside for its poor excuse for the ending) . It was full of heartwarming moments and a lot of tears for me. So if you're looking for a great read with a very touching story, great characters and swooning romance please do check this out! :)
Wow. Stefne Miller definitely has a talent. This book was incredible! I just found this romance to be so, so sweet! Unlike the 90% of my books where the romance is steamy and hits off from the start, this one developed gradually and it was so sweet. Cab's and Kei's transformations were jaw-opening. It was like they were a whole other person! My only fault was that I felt Cab became selfless a little too quickly. Then again, people do many things for love. It was nice to get inside Cab's head and learn what guys even think about. I could see why he fell in love with her. :) This story was so real. Unlike others where the relationship progressed way too quickly, I felt this went at the perfect pace! This book is literally life-changing. There are so many powerful lessons/messages in here. Don't let your past define who you are. Never take anything for granted. Give. Don't be afraid to hope. And so many more. The ending was sad. Sad as in I want to burst out crying and stay in a fetal position for an hour. Why, Stefne Miller, why?!?!?!
Oh. My. God! Such a moving story. I am an emotional wreck.
An amazing story of Cab, who has it all but feels his life has no real meaning, and Kei, who expects nothing and has a true purpose. The blending of these two worlds is emotionally engaging. Life changing, for sure.
What an uplifting story. This book had a feeling of the movie a walk to remember. If you seen this movie then you'll know how this one will turn out.
Cabot and Kei made one of the most sweetest couples I've ever read about. Cabot was an actor whose life wasn't his own and Kei lived hers serving others in need. Their time away from others to find peace fated their destiny and the time they had together taught both of them about hope and love. It was a bumpy road getting there but eventually their lives had meaning.
Very emotional and very inspirational. Really a great read.
I wish more than anything that there was a 4.5 star rating. I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Congratulations, Stefne Miller, you won for most awesome book I’ve read in a long time.
As a writer who is a Christian (and don’t you dare stop reading this just because I said that word! Don’t you dare!), I had stopped reading Christian fiction because I was tired of it’s preachiness. I don’t want love to come softly! I want to be swept off my feet in an epic, relevant, titillating, relevant, exciting (did I say relevant?) story that people from all walks of life can enjoy. And Collision did just that.
Basic premise? Cabot, the “it” boy celebrity (think Sexiest Man Alive) goes to a house in the country for a couple months to find some solace. There is only one other person there: Kei, a gorgeous, red-headed missionary girl. She has no idea who he is. Add water, stir, and you get a captivating, life-altering love story.
What a breath of fresh air!
The book is written in first person and I love being in Cabot’s head. Although written by a woman, he thinks guy-thoughts. And what’s more than that: he makes celebrities human. If for no other reason (and there are a lot more reasons!) celebrity humanity is why I want teens to read this book. The first few paragraphs about press interviews sure sounded like prostitution to me. And the parallel (whether intentional or no) is right on the money. Ms. Miller did a great job getting inside Cabot’s head and telling it like it is.
Kei is breathtakingly real. Principled but not preachy, she is a heroine to the highest degree. She is beautifully flawed, absolutely truthful and not your average missionary kid. Her past makes her present even more miraculous, and her authenticity makes her undeniably attractive. Although we hear about her beauty, it is her heart that we (and Cab) fall in love with.
The story was great. I loved the idea of two people from two completely different worlds getting a glimpse of the other. I loved seeing their ideas turned on their heads. I loved the intricacies of their story and the little twists that left him chasing her. And oh how I love that he chased her.
Again- it was the authenticity of the story that really gripped me. Kei is how missionaries think. Kei is how they live. Kei is NOT how they are often portrayed! My little post-modern heart was doing backflips at the facades that honesty tore down!
“So why only four stars, Laura? I mean, if you’re going to recommend this book to everyone you know…” Good question, reader! Like I said, I wish there’d been a 4.5 star option. Here is where the .5 point went: Kei’s dialect (although it got better as the book went on) was a leeeeeetle bit annoying. Especially in the first scene. Although the “nobbing” conversation had me giggling like a little girl, that word is so ridiculous! Also, a tiny bit too much time is spent in Uganda- I began to lose interest because the romance was played down a little bit too much. There’s another reason below, but please don’t read it if you’re going to read the book.
***SPOILER ALERT STOP READING NOW!!!***
I think the end was a bit of a cop-out. I understand the whole, “he couldn’t lean on her faith anymore” thing. But, come on! Can’t they have a happy ending?! You know what is even less exposed than Christian dating? Dangerous, real-life, adventure-seeking Christian marriage. It would have meant a lot to me (as a missionary wife in inner-city Pittsburgh) to see them go on their adventure and let the girls I mentor know that it’s possible! It just seemed kind of like, “Hm, I don’t know how to end this so I think I’ll just kill her. It’s the only neat and tidy ending available that doesn’t end up too storybook.” Give them the storybook! Your readers need to know it’s possible.
Dear Ms. Miller- if you ever wanna hang out, let me know. I would love to know how you managed to make this book so perfectly authentic, entertaining, and non-preachy yet full of the gospel. It is a delicate balance and you walked that rope absolutely perfectly. I hope it becomes a movie! I would love to see Cab (and Kei, of course) come to life onscreen!
I started this book at 10 at night, absolutely sure that I would read one chapter then go to bed. That did not happen. What to know what happen? The first chapter hooked me in, that I stayed up reading till 1:30 am, with tears running down my face.
This book has ensnared me in so many ways. Everyone has the own journey to make. Have you ever met someone that completely changed your life? Someone who gave no judgment but offered a pure and lovely friendship? I have. I will never forget my first godly mentor and leader. Like a painting, Collision is painted with an collide of colors that will leave you breathless with the most beautiful painting you have ever seen.
The plot of the book rocked. Very intriguing, after chapter one, I tell myself, "one more chapter." I ended up just deciding to read the whole book because there’s was no way I was going to put it down. Both Cab and Kei are amazing characters will life’s that draw in the reader. They way the attract each other leaves such a smile on my face.
Their love is one of kind. The purest of love that I have ever read. Their love is not lustful or fake. It's real and heart-moving. Ms. Miller does a great job in getting the readers to really invest their feelings in her characters as if they are real. There are several parts in the story where even I felt their romance beating in my chest.
The ending of the book, is...well I'm not going to spoil it. Just know that when you read this book, there is so much more that what you see. The bigger picture of the book isn't revealed to the end, and then you understand why their lives had to collide. Why they had to meet to mold each other. Each of them had a journey. A journey in which their life affects the other. It's beautiful and breathtaking.
Collision is ultimately a life changing book. There is a saying, "Some people comes into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same." That is Collision. The value of this book is an experience that every should take. Collision delivers a sensory-overload that explodes in every heart that reads this story. Breath-takingly beautiful, Collision is astounding!
To say I love this book is an understatement. This book goes beyond the YA contemporary romance and brings so much raw emotion to the real world. I adored the romance, got swept away by the story, laughed, cried, and found myself inspired by the characters. This is now one of my favorite YA reads and Stefne Miller a new favorite author. I can not recommend this book enough. If you like contemporary romance but want something with its own brand of YA magic, pick up Collision.
Title: Collision Author: Stefne Miller Number of Pages: 333 Date of Release: March 27th, 2012 Summary From Goodreads: Seven minutes inside a hotel room with a complete stranger. A friendly greeting where we pretend to know each other well and are genuinely happy to see each other; then straight to business. None of it meaningful. None of it real. All of it rehearsed, choreographed, and expected.
My life isn’t my own anymore. I pretty much go wherever I’m told and put on the show. It’s my life and whether I chose it or not, it’s the life I’ve got. It’s the world I live in.

Review: Collision blew my mind to smithereens! I don’t read contemporaries often at all, because they get boring to me! Stefne Miller’s new novel is anything but boring. I laughed, I pouted and I cried. I think my mum thought I was on something while I read this, because of my radical mood swings. I don’t even know how to begin to tell you how much this book affected me. It reached inside of me and just hit home and made me feel these intense emotions, I can honestly say I haven’t felt to this magnitude ever before.
We first get a glimpse of Cab, and I admit I thought he was going to be just another pretty face. To say I fell hard for him is a complete understatement. His character was so well done and his narration was phenomenal. I loved Kei’s name and personality. I really was able to relate to a fiery redhead, because I see myself a lot like her. She is passionate and not afraid to stand up for what is right. Which is exactly what I like in my characters. She is truly inspirational.
Guys this novel was made of pure awesome. I don’t think you will begin to fathom how much so until you actually pick it up to read it. I learned so much about the situation in Uganda, that I had known nothing of before. I also just think you need to read Stefne Millers writing because it is just so beautiful. Then the twist at the end had me sobbing big fat tears!
Stefne Miller is one of those people who has this crazy amount of talent that I can't even really fathom it. With each book, she just proves this more and more, and Collision, it was her best book yet. Collision was one of those books that just felt right. And I'm not really sure if that makes sense as a statement, but everything about Collision like it was just meant to be.
Collision's story was just beautiful. Beautiful and entrancing to a T. I was smiling like a fool for a good portion of the book. The overall mood of the book was just contagious. The happy, light-hearted moments are definitely balanced with the more serious aspects of the book. There are some of the most adorable scenes ever - like the camping scene Kei and Cabot go on. I could have kept reading this one for many more pages, and was so sad when it ended.
The characters in Collision were fantastic. Millie was a total show stealer! I loved her. I almost fell out of my chair laughing from some of the scenes with her. Kei and Cabot were such an adorable and unlikely pair. I loved how both had their flaws, and it made them so much more likable. There was something so special about the both of them.
Collision holds one of the top five heartbreaking endings in all of YA Lit I think. I still am thinking about it days after I finished. I had some severe emotions over it. It shows what kind of writer Stefne Miller is: One who isn't afraid to really make an impact with an ending.
Now Collision is a christian fiction YA, but don't let that scare you off. I've had a discussion with several people over this book, and several people have told me they wouldn't read it solely because of that. I was completely baffled. I despise the stigma that surrounds anything with a Christian label on it. The Christian element is there, sure, Kei is a missionary, but it really is by no means a "shove it down your throat" part of the book or anything. I mean, it's there, just make of it what you will. Collision holds an amazing story and I would hate for anyone to miss it for a simple reason such as that.
Collision by Stefne Miller is undoubtedly one of the best books of 2012. Stefne Miller is a rising star in YA, and it's only a matter of time before she breaks big. I cannot wait to see what she will write next, whatever it is I will start counting down the days until it releases. Don't miss out on one amazing book, as the characters will charm you til tomorrow and the plot is absolutely entrancing.
So, how does Collision compare to Vain? I'm afraid Vain is better. Collision is the less fun, less sexy, more traumatic and more Christian version of Vain. I have to say this though, if the book was in Kei's perspective, I probably would've liked it a lot more. Kei made the book, really.
What I didn't like I didn't like how the author would throw out strong emotions without really backing them up. It's a showing vs. telling problem. The book lacked coherency and direction. A lot of floating around. It was a bit preachy.
Review Cab is at the stage of fame where he's extremely disillusioned and lost. When he meets Kei, he is so surprised at her friendly and casual nature. He is instantly intrigued, and sinks to new lows like spying on her, which was hilarious. I was truly and undeniably turning into a stalker. For Cabot, he's just happy that for once, he gets to do the chasing. His awkwardness had me cringing at moments. But I really enjoyed seeing Kei teach him to live. It was funny too, because he just copies her lifestyle and routine and revels in the novelty of normality.
Kei...is kind of hard to describe, mainly because I don't know what she's thinking. She's so quirky without being quirky. She's a normal Christian girl who's confident in herself but occasionally makes self-deprecating remarks to suggest otherwise. She can be quite snarky, but she's really easy-going and at ease with herself and her beliefs. She's not afraid to air her opinion though she recognises that they won't always be appreciated. Sometimes she shouts when she gets overexcited and generally just gets physical, but not in a bad way. It's kind of cute.
Kei - “You’re odd, very, very odd.” “Hold your horses, Kei. You haven’t seen anything yet.” “I don’t own any horses.” “It’s a figure of speech,” I said with a laugh as I looked at her through the mirror. She stood and rested her hands on her hips. “We confuse each other immensely, you and I.”

After reading Salvaged and Rise by Stefne Miller, I was convinced it would be impossible for her to come up with something better then these two stories. I love to be proven wrong!
I believe contemporary fans who read Young Adult and Adult novels alike, will love this story. It's one of the most inspirational stories I have read and I easily fell in love with Cabot and Kei from the start. Cabot, a 23 year old famous movie star, is loved by screaming fans everywhere he goes. Kei does missionary work in Uganda and her way of life is completely opposite that of Cabot. When the two meet and each get to see the others way of life, the relationship they from is incredible. It's a story that I could easily picture happening in someone's life.
Mrs. Miller's ability to create a story that is completely engaging, with beautiful writing that keeps the story flowing in a steady pace is a feat that can't be easy to achieve. She is able to do this time and time again, a true artist in her craft. Like her other novels, COLLISION is a very moving story, with aspects that will tear-your-heart-out and replace it with a new one; one that has a new sense of hope and longing and is full of inspiration and love. Her story-telling knows no end and she astounds me with every novel she writes.
COLLISION is an incredible story of love, trust, and inspiration. With all of these attributes, you get to see what all of that does to two people and how it changes their lives forever. I cannot recommend this story (and her other stories) enough to the world.
*NOTE* Tissues are a requirement for reading this story... just sayin'
gosh, i feel bad giving this only a three star rating. with all the five star ratings in the front page, i had so much expectations for this book. Cab is a celebrity, and he was supposed to be my cup of tea. Kei had the attitude that i loved so dearly that the ending broke my heart. The plot could've been so powerful and amazing if only Stefne Miller wrote better. what i love: Kei and all of Cab's stay in Uganda. enough said. now for a small rant: i'm not sure if i'm the only one who noticed or if i'm the only one who got a crappy copy, but the writing style irks me so much. the start was good, but as it went on it became like 90% dialogue that i barely got what the imagery looks like (e.g. they climbed to see the view...Cab says the view is great, but for me as a reader, what the heck does the view looked like?) and then by the middle of the book or something, the book goes all telling, that i wanted to slam my head on the nearest wall. another thing, Cab's dialogue are overly melodramatic that i almost gagged. the book centered mostly with Cab wanting Kei so much that there were barely any other characters introduced. i felt like i was reading a fanfiction half the time, and it wasn't a great feeling. the ending...UGH. it should've made me cry. i know that if someone else like John Green or Sarah Dessen wrote the ending, i would've sobbed for a week. but the way it was written was so amateur-ish that i want to cry for my favorite character not getting any justice. sigh.
This is the first book that I've read this month that really had me crying A LOT and I've read this for a straight 5 hours , I really like reading a book that i like not stopping once I've started it.
I am young. I'm only 14 and even though I still don't understand how the world really functions because I haven't seen most of it yet , I felt really soft inside and that is a really nice feeling. But , as much as I love this book , I always prepare myself for worst case scenarios so, I emotionally prepared myself . AND THANK GOD TO THAT ! I didn't cried nonstop. Even though this is a REALLY good book I know that a lot didn't really expect that ending and cried nonstop , then after crying , felt disappointed because they might've expected it to be a happily ever after since its going all well , and even though I , myself , felt a little disappointed .. ...because if I am Kei and at the highest peak of happiness and have everything that I didn't imagine that I would have , then BAM ! It all got destroyed just like that without me even savoring it more.
... I would totally hate that , like BIG TIME , because I would know from wherever I am that the person whom I shared those happiness with will feel miserable and to those who loved me.
BUT overall this book is really good and i would gladly recommend to my friends or whosoever wants a book that shows how the world revolves and wants a peek of reality.
What happens when the glamorous world of Hollywood fame and fortune collides with the dedication and determination of a life committed to meeting needs among the poorest peoples of a third world country?
Cabot whose world spins at a dizzying pace, has everything a man could ever want. Yet he’s lost himself.
Kei finds her life’s purpose in unselfish service to the beautiful people of Uganda who have nothing. It just so happens that her life of sacrifice provides a perfect place to hide.
Can Kei help Cabot discover a life worth living? Can Cabot rise to become the man Kei needs and deserves?
You’ll love the journey that ensues when their worlds unexpectedly collide, and their story unfolds across two continents with amazing glimpses at life in Uganda. Real and deep with gut-wrenching emotion, you won’t want to put it down!
Well...I don't even know what to say... I looooved this book. I was ready to give it5 stars.... And I never give 5 stars... And then the sat 20 ages ruined it for me. It was so sudden. And totally unexpected.... And I hated it. Sorry but if I spend all this time reading a book I want to feel happy in the end not depressed... I wsh the last two chapters would have been the wedding and then the honeymoon and how she wasn't ruined from her horrible past. A motorcycle wreck?? Hated the ending!!

I can't explain the impact this book has made on me. I am still asking myself, "What do I need to do as a result of reading this book?" I know that it was no accident I read this book and I am still amazed that I was this affected by a work of fiction!! What a testament to the author. The characters and their stories are captivating. I became so emotionally involved with them that they almost became real to me. This book is a definite must read!
It started out to be a 5 -huge- stars reading...I was so sure of that. What happened?....I can't stand people and books that preach or try to send or sell moral messages or talk in detail about the third world problems.I know I may sound like an insensitive bitch but I dislike too moral people and saints. The real rating is 2 stars but usually save it for a really bad book and this one wasn't the worst I have read,I settled for a 3.
I can only describe this book with one word: INSPIRING ❤ I think that I've never cried so much as I did with this story. It is totally emotive, magic, inspiring but mostly Realistic.
This book make me realize that out there somewhere there are a lot of persons with less things and with a tragic past but they smile and are more happy than us; because they learn how to go through the experience that god gave to them. But they still need us, just a friend.
Fortunately, I have had the wonderful opportunity to read "Collision" and have to say it is one of the best books I have ever read, by far a new favorite!! If you are looking to be moved by emotion and inspired by life and love, this is a MUST READ for you!
