Return to the Pleiades #1

Starborn Husbands

Rate this book
When Guardian Treyu Orion is accused of negligence on the job, he’s sentenced to death. Totally overboard, right? Yeah, but the Guild is full of stars who hate Orions. Prince Zhang Centaurus comes to the rescue with an arranged marriage. Why would Zhang do this? They’ve been frenemies since they set eyes on each other. Most likely it’s an evil scheme to have Treyu come to heel because once they’re married, Pleiadian customs dictate that he obeys his husband.

How convenient.

Atlanta Orion is in love, but he doesn’t know how to say it because he’s basically a caveman with feelings. Instead, he gives up his title, family, and home to run away with his beloved, Gemini Centaurus, the crown prince of the Nebula, when the king rejects his impromptu proposal. There. That should do it. No words necessary. Atlanta will make sure to kiss Gemini lots too.

They just have to never get caught.

If the soap opera-esque life of these four men wasn’t enough, someone wants Treyu dead. The Archangel Merrick, Treyu’s jealous and possessive ex-situationship, thinks he’s the only one who can protect Treyu properly. He swoops in and all chaos breaks loose.

Amidst their drama, these men unlock a scheme so sinister it’ll require that they put aside their petty feuds and work together to save the universe.

Starborn Husbands is a frenemies-to-lovers MM novel, the first in the Return to the Pleiades series. It contains the caretaking dynamic Mock (S. Legend) is known for. This book is a certified member of the Hot Pink Peaches Club.

Some of you know her as Mock, others as S. Legend, or Miss S. She welcomes all names but will often go by Mock, a name given to her by her readers.
Mock is an ambitious creative, weaving the most precious aspects of her soul into stories. She is an architect, building fascinating worlds, designed from inquiry, rooted in worldly wonderings. It’s an intuitive process where she is the scribe, the translator, the conduit.
It helped that storytelling was the language spoken at home. One simply didn’t say, “We have an ant infestation,” in Mock’s family it was, “I was on my way to the living room, when a peculiar ant crossed my path. I looked to my right, a suspicious line of them marched toward the pantry. In that moment I knew; my kitchen was under siege.” The natural flow of conversation always took this form.
And so.
When Mock wrote her first novel, she didn’t plan it chapter by chapter, there was no outline, no “plotting” to speak of. But she didn’t “pants” it either, she didn’t make it up as she went along. She knew how the story felt, where it curved in places and hollowed in others; she knew the destination it rushed toward. Instead of orchestrating, she let the world inspire her, and held space for the words to come, trusting the characters knew what they were doing. All she had to do was tell a story, as she always had done; like breathing.
This is her peace, her healing and solace: Gifts better shared.
Mock’s works are the comfort you seek when you need to come home. Her unique writing style will take you, wayfaring reader, to unexpected destinations.
She always says, “I’m not in the business of making up stories, I couldn’t if I tired. I’m lucky enough to get picked to share someone else’s story when I ask a question to the universe. Someone answers; I write it down.”

I finished this in the early hours of this morning, and just wow!

Starborn Husbands has a lot of detailed world-building, but it isn't given as an info dump. It is woven into the story well. I thought the idea of stars, the way angels and gods worked was fascinating. I'm sure the questions that I have about Treyu's enlightenment will be answered in other books, because there has to be more!

Although there is a HEA/HFN ending, there's still a lot to answer and the overarching plot isn't done.

While it is a poly book, it is a very slow burn on that aspect. It isn't actually all that steamy, to me anyway, compared to other S. Legend books, focusing more on the character development and story. I loved that about it because though I may enjoy a good spanking scene, there really wasn't the time in the fast-paced story for it.

This one is going to live rent free in my head for a bit. Loved it!

A HOT gay romance with Sci-fi Fantasy / Space Opera themes, one heck of a fascinating LORE, brats & doms, action, conspiracy, families, spankings & love.
This book is a big beast, It took me 3 days but gosh I was devoted! This #ARC had me hooked 😍. I loved Atlanta, Gem, Treyu, Zhang, even Merrick 🤭.

The book is from Treyu's & Atlanta's POV, the 2 Orion guardian brothers as their lives are entangled with Gem & Zhang, the Centaurus Royal brothers. Also Treyu's ex, war angel Merrick. The story is packed with world building, like omg, it's so amazing. Sometimes even made me think twice & I love books that make me do it lol. Aliens, Stars, Demons, Angels, Gods! We have plenty of kinks & SMUT! 🥵

Treyu is such a brat, gets in trouble, but very entertaining. Brave, caring when it counts. Frenemies with Zhang, the calm, pure, cool & Dom. The 2 bicker so much 😂. SO MUCH HAPPENS, T's in danger. Why? Oh we find 🤯😏. Merrick was a dick at start, but redeemed. Dangerous, oddly cute 🤭. The 2 are so devoted to T, atleast they tried to find if they had chemistry with each other 😅.

Atlanta & Gem are so cute together! Atlanta's a barbarian caveman, Gem's gentle, sunny but fierce. While the trio was finding it's foot, these 2 became solid 😍. The story is amazing, I hope to see more of these 5 & others! They got their HFN but there's still much left 😉. So excited! I hope we get book 2 soon.

P.s. T's homeworld's working is interesting with their Dynamics. I can't help but think that it can be exploited, especially with arranged marriages, as long as they're not forced tho as I guess, then bonds won't be formed, hm?

Story Ratings:

POV: 1st person, Dual POV
1) Overall Enjoyment—> 5/5
2) The Characters: 5/5
3) Top feels: 🤯🥵😳😂😍🤬👀😔😯🥰😤😁😕😭🤭😅😏❤️🙌⭐
4) Steamy scenes: 5/5
5) Levels: Cute+Swoon: 4/5
Angst: 3/5
Dark: 3/5
6) Creativity + world: 5+/5
7) Plot arc: (Love, Battles, Conspiracy) 5/5
8) Writing style + pace: 4.5/5

Well..this was a fun one!!

What to expect:
-Arranged Marriage
-Soulmates
-Possessive MCs
-Domestic Discipline
-Snarky Brats
-Humor
-Sci-Fi Adventures
-Poly
-Frenemies to Lovers
-Touch him and die vibes

I don't know where to start so I'm going to start with my favorites. Gem and Atlanta absolutely OWN ME! I'm so addicted to their dynamic and S Legend knows know to write it so well. Gem and Atlanta radiate that "touch what's mine and die" vibe and I ATE IT UP!! Atlanta will do absolutely anything to keep Gem safe....but at what cost? Will he have to risk everything for his love? Read it and see ;)

Zhang was another character I fell for quickly (which I wasn't expecting). Zhang needs to be protected at ALL COSTS. If there was ever a character that deserves all the happiness it's him. Zhang and Treyu share an exquisitely written Brat/Brat Tamer relationship but one man is definitely not enough to keep Treyu's brattiness in line. That's where Merrick comes in and boy was I hooked on him immediately. Just his description did me in! WINGS. NEED I SAY MORE?! Funny enough, my favorite connection between these three is Zhang and Merrick. THE BANTER. I live for it and I can't wait to get even more of it in the next book.

There are soooo many side characters in this book that had me saying "I'd read an entire book about them". The world building and plot had me hooked and I'm beyond excited to see where everything is going in book two now that....stuff...went down.

Don't sleep on this one guys!!

This book was addictive. Despite making a solid commitment to myself about the next three books I was going to read, as soon as I came across the blurb for this one, that whole carefully laid plan went to ruin and I was salivating to start Starborn Husbands instead.

And I loved the heck out of it.

Was it perfect? No. Things that were 'established' early on seemed to abruptly fall apart/go missing from the story later when it was convenient for them to do so: the responsibility of Guardians to defend from demons (never mentioned again), Merrick's personality (suddenly sappy sweet compared to how he'd been introduced as fulfilling Treyu's danger kink), Atlanta's inability to commit to Gem (only a first chapter thing), Treyu's uncle (what was his name again?), the excitement of exhibitionism (because apparently everywhere has spontaneous sex dungeons anyway?)

But the characters. Goddesses, the characters.

We have Treyu, snarky brat who is framed for a crime and forced into a marriage with his rival to avoid execution. Loyal to a fault, never one to back down from a fight despite the odds weighed against him, and will loudly declare to anyone listening his love for being spanked.

There's Zhang, said rival to Treyu (although he doesn't see it that way). Good guy in public who's striving for angelhood...but more than able to handle his new husband in all the ways, and surprisingly strict on domestic protocol.

We also have Gemini, crown prince and the sweetest, most innocent yet filthy little star. He's utterly devoted to his man and out of all of them, he's the one who surprised me the most with my love for him. I wish to wrap him in a blanket and growl at anyone who gets too close.

Next is Atlanta, Treyu's older brother and light of Gem's life. He's grumpy as all hell and gets particularly murderous when anything hurts Gem. Even if that anything is family.

Our fifth 'main' character is Merrick, an angel warrior who is feeling rather possessive of Treyu and not willing to let the little issue of him being married stand in his way. Sexy black wings too ;)

(There's two sets of relationships between the main characters, so don't worry: no incest).

While the worldbuilding got a little overwhelming with the stars and the angels and the gods and the hawthors and the humans and the not-humans and whatever-his-face-was from the other galaxy, I enjoyed it all: the adventure, the spice, the sweetness. I'll be eagerly keeping an eye out for the next book.

Mock does it again…but this time she’s taken us to space!
Treyu Orion is a fallen star who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. When his frenemy Prince Zhang Centaurus saves him from a demon (yes, again) Treyu thinks their mission is accomplished and he’s done with this one. But when the mission turns into a major accusation made against Treyu, Zhang jumps in to save him again…by agreeing to marry him (not the Treyu asked him to!)
Treyu’s brother Atlanta has been in an FWB situation with Zhang’s brother Gemini for years. Atlanta doesn’t fall in love, and this is just sex, until his relationship with Gem is threatened. It’s time for Atlanta to admit that this is more than he thought.
Through in an arranged marriage, a sexy angel, scary seraphs and some overbearing parents? This is an epic story spanning the galaxy and Heaven.
This book has nonstop interstellar action, a unique system of space species, enemies to lovers, and lots of sp@nking and spice!
If you loved Tristan, you’ll absolutely love Treyu!
Side note: I absolutely fell in love with Gemini. He’s reminiscent of River who’s my sweet baby 😍
Thank you for this super fun arc Mock!

I was kindly given ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have mixed feelings about that one.
Normally, I am all into spankings, domestic discipline lifestyle and related power exchange.
However, I also need a good and coherent story to keep it all together and always prefer convincing relationship developments to anything insta.
This book was strange. It was not literal instalove story as all characters know each other for centuries. However, there was not much development of anything. Instead we were simply told that starting today Atlanta and Gem are in love (they casually fucked, no strings attached for around a thousand years right before now). Same happended to Merrick and Treyu / Zhang and Treyu - we were told that they all had long stories in the past (casual fucking for M and T, casual fremenies for T and Z), but as nothing is on the page, we were unable to really see the development. They just met again now, and suddenly, there are all the emotions that were not here for centuries and even not yesterday. As a result I personally did not feel any connection between characters.

Merrick. That was a special dissapointment for me - such a delicious asshole in the beginning, he switched to sweet lover with some daddy issues right in the middle of the book. What's about character consistency?

Atlanta. Muscle-over-brain, exaggerated masculinity, stone face, and annoying inability to articulate his thoughts and feelings. He reads shallow – and I understand that, how else you can write a hero unable to produce anything more complicated than grunts and growls? The question is - why do we even need him and his lovestory here? He and Gem do not add any meat to the plot; they are simply crowding the space.

Worlbuilding. Is there anyone who can explain me what does it mean being a “star”? Because, you know, I didn’t get any coherent info from the book. What’s “stars” biology, chemistry, physics and how is it different from the human’s ones? Are they processing hydrogen, create helium inside their bodies, expel photons, gamma rays, X-rays and ultraviolet? Are they radioactive? If all above mentioned do not apply why they are called “stars”? I would say their race requires a lot more work then we can see in the book. And I have not even started on missing social structure and economics of the Pleyades!

Unnecessary pages. Why do we need description of Treyu's family and introduction to his kid-brother? They are mentioned once, have their chapter, then disappear from the text. Treyu's uncle -why do we need him in the book? He disappears from the pages immediately after his chapter is over to never be seen again. Boone and company - I understand they are convinient plot-drivers that help move the story when it is slipping, but really - was it impossible to find solution from within, without adding more mess to already crowded book?

Not a stand alone. The book does not end up with a cliffhanger, but it has too many lose ends to consider it a completed work. It is kind of a movie-with-a-potential that is now on pause for indeternimable time.

I am giving it 2 stars for the promise of the next book. I really hope that after all introductory and messy worlbuilding is done in the first book, the second one would be more packed with the plot and relationships.
I also enjoyed short scenes between Daniel and Erick and between Rigel and the king. These side characters - for now - are better written, more cohirent and believable than any of the main ones.

I'm speechless. Utterly speechless. I've read some amazing books this year but this one tops them all.

The characters, the action, the crazy tension. The secrets! So many secrets! You have to force yourself to stop reading because you can't put this book down. You want to know more. You need to know more that it makes you antsy. I debated on whether I should call in sick to work just to keep reading.

S. Legend has written some of my favourite characters. Corrik, Darius, Wyatt, Mercy. However Treyu has knocked them down a peg. He's bratty, sassy, badass and sarcastic. He's all her best characters rolled into one.

The storyline is fabulous and written so amazingly well. I loved everything about this book. Especially Treyu, Zhang and Merrick. Their love spans centuries and it's the sweetest love story.

This book was all over the place. First, it was too long. I thought it would never end. The plot was all over the place as well. Too many side stories popping up without being fully fleshed out. The memory reveal with Treyu at the end was anticlimactic. This book is over 500 pages long and at least 80% of it was useless filler. The world building was mediocre at best.

Treyu’s character was annoying and very childish. I liked Merrick, but his character was very one dimensional. The emotional connection between Merrick and Treyu was not there. Honestly, I was surprised it turned into a thing. The author, in my opinion, didn’t provide enough background on their history to make the relationship believable. I liked Zhang’s character. Let’s be real, he deserved better.

Atlanta’s storyline added nothing to the plot. His chapters were rise and repeat- all he did was have sex with Gem. He claimed to love Gem, but it didn’t come across the page. Atlanta and Gem were also one dimensional characters. I would liked to known more about their past since they’d been in a “relationship” for hundreds of years. Instead, we’re given one or two sentence flashbacks. I started skipping the chapters told from Atlanta’s POV and guess what? I didn’t miss anything.

The book I needed. Struck the right tone of humor, drama and action/storyline. I wish I had the ability to summarize a book without giving too much away. Those are the types of book reviews that I’m drawn too. But I’ve never been good at summaries! Ask my 8th grade English teacher. He’ll tell you! I didn’t have the skill then and I lack it still. I will tell you that this book is a great set up for a tale of adventures and romances that can easily span several novels. I can’t imagine not wanting to read on as the story continues but it must be said that this book is a satisfying read in and of itself so don’t be afraid to start. There’s no cliff hanger that will leave you emotionally and intellectually dangling in that frustratingly unsatisfied way that cliffhangers are wont to do. But you will be left wanting more and very interested to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

Things I Found Compelling About this Book:

“We are stardust brought to life, then empowered by the universe to figure itself out—and we have only just begun.”
― Neil deGrasse Tyson,

 It was through Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson that I learned this bit of fascinating information, that humans are indeed made of stardust. Approximately 86% of our mass to be specific. I say this to highlight my pure surprise and enjoyment of the authors use of this information in this book. Clever. So clever. I wouldn’t be surprised if the above quote in some way inspired S. Legend in the creation of this new world they have built.

 The prologue gave a little background on the rift between our main characters, Treyu and Zhang but I think I’d like more. The prologue feels like the beginnings of a standalone story in and of itself and I would love a book dedicated to their childhood and the buildup of their relationship. That said. Maybe a book about what has to be everyone’s favorite character, Trinket. You’ll see what I’m talking about.

 There’s a small reveal about the King when we first meet him in the story that had me cackling. I hope you enjoy it was much as I did when you come upon it

 There’s a lot of talk about Orion’s being without feeling and stoic. This frightened me. One of the things I love most of S. Legends work is the affection between her characters. Between family found and biological. I was afraid this would be missing. But I was wrong. Thank goodness.

 The enemies to lovers’ portion of the story is a bit one sided but the reason why is delicious. We start to understand as the books plot begins to expand and boy, does it expand.

 The story really gets rolling about 1/3 of the way into it when the intrigue gets kicked up several notches. This is where I tucked my head in and blocked out the rest of the world and I devoured each page. There’s a bit of a whodunit element of the book, but I didn’t know if I even had enough pieces of the puzzle to help guide me in solving the issue. It soon became obvious that the reader is NOT given the pieces. Surprises, new revelations, twists and turns abound! One can’t help but guess as to the direction of the story even though it’s mostly hopeless endeavor because something new is most likely around the next corner either complicating or elucidating the plot. I finally stopped fruitlessly trying to wrack my brain in an effort to figure out the story and just strapped in to enjoy the ride. Okay. I kept trying to, I just couldn’t help myself. I’m sure I’m not the only one!

 Lastly, there are some elements of this story that I feel are special Easter eggs in the form of characters and events for those of us who have read the authors online works, creations that predate their published works. I think these are some of my favorite elements about this novel. It’s absolutely nothing anyone unaware of these works would note or miss, but for those of us in the know, these are special treats indeed.

Read Starborn Husbands and expect to see..

💫 PNR and Polyamory
💫 Dynamic and Deep Characters
💫 A Steller Plot
💫 Extensive Worldbuilding
💫 Trouble and Spanking and Brats… Oh My 😏

~ I was given an ARC of Starborn Husbands in exchange for my honest review and opinions! ~

“How do you do that?” he says when our lips pull apart.
“Do what?”
“Make me want to murder you, and then make me fall in love with you again, all in the same breath?”

💘Romance: 4/5
🌶Spice: 5/5
🏃‍♀️Pacing: 4/5
🎭Plot: 4/5
🗺Worldbuilding: 5/5
👀Perspective: (1st) / Dual POV

So much happened in this book it’s difficult to organize my thoughts into anything coherent. This book had me floored for several reasons!
1.) The world building was so extensive. There are so many layers to everything in this world and my brain can’t process it all.
2.) There were several shocking moments that just left me truly gagged.
3.) The spice was hot and heavy in the best ways possible.

Treyu is truly so sassy and lovable and he really made this book so fun to read! Despite being a “light” read by S.Legend standards, there were still some aspects of this book that I found a bit dark. Because of that though, the book felt so real and deep and helped me connect to the characters. 😚💕

The pacing in the middle was a bit slow, but by act three we were right in that sweet spot where I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. The lull in pacing may be due to the vast worldbuilding and my unfamiliarity with Scifi like this one (I was doing a mental marathon to figure out who was what and what was where in the beginning…) so take my pacing comment with a grain of salt.
Also I have to put this out there, but Erick is just everything! I need more lore context about Erick cause like what!?! He needs his own book/novella/short!! I’m begging for a crumb…any crumb!!🤩

I will say that I don’t think Treyu has out bratted Tristan just yet, but since this book has set the stage for more to come, I wouldn’t put it past Treyu to usurp Tristan's “Brat Throne” in later books. I’m excited to see what happens next because I can’t even begin to guess what trouble Treyu will end up in next! As always, happy reading! 🌠

BEST BOOK EVER

Okay, so I didn't know if this book could be as good as the many other amazing books Mock's written. But as always, it was downright AMAZING. I had to stop reading part way through because I was like "if i keep going and binge read it, its gonna end, and then imma want more." but I still got to the end and while disappointed it ended, I do have high hopes for the future and what more tales you will bring in this series, Mock. Your writing will always be amazing and I will just have to reread your new book (and the others) over and over again until the next new book!

Atlanta and Gem are so hot together. Atlanta is a total serious top, even if their both being quite naughty running off. Not that I blame them, as it being so difficult for them to stay together. So many rules. And Gen, sweety is willing yo sacrifice his title and comfortable life for Atlanta. AHHHH AND Atlanta doesn't care who what when how. Treyu was overdo a butt warming and he delivered. Atlanta and Gemini are just plain meant for each other. Amazing couple!

And of course, Treyu is a huge brat. Oh gosh, gotta love that for him hehe. He's so not going to be going cold assed anytime soon with Zhang and Merrick tag teaming him. Oh gosh, Treyu is like Tristan's cousin from another dimension. Both destined for greatness...and being brats who need more then 1 top to be kept and loved in line. Merrick, I wasn't sure about him for a bit. I mean, talk about daddy issues, but everything was so interesting an of course, he loves Treyu and thats all I need to put him in my good books. And Zhang is just downright so much fun, especially with how Treyu just kept on thinking like he's gonna be proven innocent and they could break up their marriage. Yeah, no sweety. Zhang won't let you leave that easy. Ahhh they were so hot together, especially when he caged Treyu up for his naughty touching himself. I hole the next book has more that for sure, bot to mention more spanks for the brat. Hehe.

I'll be recommending this book to my friends in a sneaky way to get them to fall into loving your writing too. Until the next book, I shall await!

This book was such a fantastic mix of fantasy, sci-fi, kink, steam and romance. I don’t even know where to start on this book because it’s the first book in a series and it sets up a lot of characters and relationships and world building. And while that might feel overwhelming, S. Legend does it in such a way that you aren’t overloaded with information in the first chapters like I sometimes feel in other intense world building books. The world building is done throughout the book so it’s a great mix of setting up the universe these characters are in while also getting to the good parts of the story which I can’t imagine is an easy task.

First the characters - I love Treyu’s character for so many reasons throughout this book. The amount of trouble he finds himself in at every possible turn is mind boggling but he handles it with humor and a good outlook. He’s an absolute brat at times but with his luck, I often found myself giving him a pass for being such a brat. I loved the dynamic with Zhang and their whole entire storyline. The addition of Merrick to their relationship and how that all plays out is something I’m looking forward to reading more of in books to come. Treyu is between these two dominant characters who are beyond protective and caring for him and I can only imagine the clashes that will come from Zhang and Merrick disagreeing.

Atlanta and Gemini were also a great pair of characters and a different dynamic from the other set of MCs. I liked how the story switched from Treyu’s POV to Atlanta throughout the book. The other characters are also very interesting and I’m so looking forward to what else we are going to learn from this universe.

The underlying mystery that Treyu and Zhang are trying to uncover also works to keep you absolutely invested in this book and the pages turning. And the last quarter of the book is beyond epic…..if you were on a ride for the whole book, hold onto your seat cause that last quarter is twists, turns, revelations, a battle, and some steam. I can’t wait to read the next one cause I need to see where this book picks up from the end.

Again, Mock makes me like things I don’t normally like. She is the only person who can get me to read poly relationships and this book is no different.

I do believe Treyu is my twin soul lol, which definitely confirms that I fall into the category of a brat. He really shines through this book and Mock never broke away from his nature. His bratty comebacks and attitude are the best, but he is also fierce and just so easy to fall for.

Zhang had me at the get go. Now I will always pick favourites in couples, but him with Treyu was my fave. Zhang is the perfect person to keep Treyu in line. His firm hand, (pun intended), structure and that underlying swell of love had me swooning for him hardcore.

Then we have Merrick, the third (or should I say second partner to Treyu) is smokin hot. I love how Mock gently brings the reader into expanding the relationship so you never feel a “third wheel” vibe which I appreciate. The dick measuring angst and annoyance between him and Zhang is everything.

Then we have our separate couple, Atlantis and Gem. These two are opposites but have the same fire. Sexy together, possessive and Atlantis needs Gem to keep his calm from exploding lol they are a grump and sunshine duo.

This is a beast of a story, you get a huge plot which just sweeps you away into the galaxy with them. Mock manages to not only keep such an intense plot flowing like a river, but you get laugh out loud moments, hot heat, angst and just fantastic story telling. Also did I mention spanking and domestic discipline. Mock is queen of this and it was top tier.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next one as I need to see Treyu piss off more people in the galaxy with his perfect attitude.

Tristan you may have some competition for crown of brat!

🌟 Arranged Marriage
🍑 Soulmates
🌟 Possessive MCs (um, VERY possessive 🥵
🍑 Domestic Discipline 🫱🏽🍑
🌟 Paranormal meet Sci-Fi
🍑 Snarky Brats
🌟 Poly V Relationship

I loved it. If you are familiar with Miss Mock’s (S. Legend) work, then you know a bit of what to expect going in. Brats, domestic discipline of the fantastical kind, dominance, possessive as hell MCs, poly fun, and sp@nking.

In this book we meet Treyu, a trouble magnet and massive brat. He’s a badass guardian and fallen star (so cool) and is soon sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit. We meet Zhang, who clearly loves Treyu and will do anything to save him—to include, must to Treyu’s irritation—marrying him.

And thus our journey begins.

We also have Treyu’s big brother, Atlanta (possessive much? My Gods, he’s the most possessive yet), and Zhang’s big brother, Gemini (must be protected at all costs because he’s precious). They are an item in a big way. A big forbidden way. Gemini and Zhang are royalty, so they can’t be with just ANYONE.

But there’s so much more than meets the eye and nothing with Treyu is simple. He’s got an ex situationship with an angel who might be able to compete with Atlanta for possessive. And also a whole host of family drama on all sides and many secrets to untangle.

This does NOT end on a cliffhanger, so fans of the Tristan-verse can rest easy on that front. ;)

Highly recommend for fans of any of the tropes and all those who love unique world building. Miss Mock, you’ve outdone yourself. So many stars. 10 stars!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yes, I’ll be rereading.

Oh well. S. Legend (Miss Mock to me) did it again. And I know. I know that every time I review one of her books I say I don't read polyamory, but then she writes the story and says "Do you want to read it?" And I tell her," You know I'm not into this, I don't understand it!", but then she says "Come ooooon, it's going to be fun!" (That is more or less how it goes!) And what do I finally do? I go and read the darn book. What can I say? I'm weak.

And... I did have fun! This sci fi story, at times a little bizarre, at times perhaps a little confusing with everything that happens at a fairly fast pace, is a complex mix of secrets, ambitions, hatred and jealousy leading to betrayals, and in the midst of all that, and thanks to it, the relationship between Treyu and Zhang, Treyu and Merrick, and among the three of them, is finally being forged and solidified, the same as that of Atlanta and Gem.

In addition to the plot and the twists that it has, Miss Mock also gives us her trademark of brattiness, spanking (to mention just one of the kinks that abound in the story) and a certain "domestic discipline" (yes, in quotes, because to tell you the truth, Treyu is such a brat, I don't think the words "obedience and discipline" are really in his vocabulary!). So we get a lot of banter, sexy and spicy moments that heat up the pages as we read, as well as the adventures that these five characters embark, bringing a sense of danger that adds to the story to end up making it really interesting! And no, Miss Mock. Don't even think about saying "I told you so"!

I was given an advance copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Space pirates.
Mystery plot lines.
After life speculative fiction.
Greek and Roman mythology.
Biblical Supernatural beings.
Damsels in distress that are actually hyper competent dudes.
And of course In the words of Treyu it has the best of tags, spanking spanking and double spanking
This book is an absolute wild ride.

Everyone is out to get Treyu. Like literally. EVERYONE but we have no idea why, least of all Treyu.

So welcome to the mystery.

I love how well the plot of this story unravels. With enough little hints of what is actually going on artfully sprinkled along the way so that when I was able to guess some of the plot points correctly I literally punched the air with an out loud “I KNEW IT.” Love a good mystery to figure out and this is one heck of a mystery.

Treyu is such a fun protagonist to follow. Bratty and wild and who the heck knows what all.
And of course like a true brat in one of Legend’s stories, Treyu can’t help but collect domineering gorgeous men, that fall head over heels in love with him and would kill for him or maybe just kill HIM. (Who the heck is Boone!?)

Gem and Atlanta are such a sweet couple. Their do anything to be together love is inspiring and joyful and I love it so much.

Over all though, this story is about opening yourself up to love after you’ve been hurt and the power that can come with that decision. Such a fantastic read and I can’t wait for the saga to continue.

Also I would like to read an entire book about Johnny and his mischief. Just saying.

Starborn Husbands was such a quick read for me - I couldn't put it down!

It had all my favourite tropes including arranged marriage, spanking, frenemies to lovers, possessive lovers and of course, what we're all here for, brat behaviour.

The chemistry and relationship dynamic between Treyu, Zhang and Merrick was very well done. I love how Miss Mock is able to create complex relationships with characters that each have different needs, but each of those characters are still heard and validated in those needs and find acceptance. The other relationship pairing the book focuses on is between Atlanta and Gemini, who I found were a nice complement to what I saw as the book's lead couple/throuple.

As for world building, this book found a nice subtle balance, where it was given in chunks big enough that you were able to gradually build an image of the world these characters existed in, but thankfully was not info dumped. I also found the world building to be quite sophisticated and profound, which was an unexpected and nice suprise.

Favourite quotes which capture the dichotomies of sophistication and sexyness of this book;

"Meet the world with who you are, Treyu, or everything else around you will fill you in."

"Merrick, I'm not going with you. Deal. Babe, your overt display of caveman possessiveness is hot. Keep that shit up."

Overall, 5/5, would definitely recommend!

Such an amazing, action-packed story. The world-building was quite grand with this story so prepare yourself!

It was so much fun following along with Treyu and seeing him fall in love with Zhang and Merrick. I was actually surprised by that last one. From being in Treyu's head, I couldn't imagine Merrick was anything other than an @$$h@t. So it was actually a fun surprise when he got on the scene to discover more about him and how he actually felt about his relationship with Treyu.

Another joy was Atlanta and Gemini. They were such an amazing couple. I loved getting to see how they operated. They were the sweet and calm to Treyu's wild and chaotic! Atlanta and Treyu's entire family was honestly a joy to read. Trinket in particular stole the show!

I will say the story is long (if you read a lot of Mock you'll be used to this). But the length, wild world of the story, and crazy adventures did sometimes feel super fantastical and lost me a bit. I'd have to reread to understand what was happening. And there was a lot of the "almost died but didn't. Or almost captured but escaped/rescued" vibe going on that felt a bit like...of course that managed to happen exactly at that moment.

But truly as I kept reading I let myself relax into the story and was able to enjoy it and fall in love with the characters. A fun read, especially if you love some grand adventures!

No surprise here. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I am going to try my best to leave out spoilers. I came into reading this book without reading the description, and I feel it really increased my level of enjoyment, so I would like to try and keep certain details at a minimum so others can do the same.

Whenever I start reading a Mock book I have some trouble as my brain often feels like we are starting in the middle of a story, and it takes me a while to get caught up. That said, I am never disappointed, and I find myself more captivated by the story this way. This book was no different.

There were twists and turns that I found myself trying to guess at. In some cases, I was right, but the writing did keep me on my toes, and there were some twists I could not have guessed at.

I loved the relationships between the 2 sets of main characters. While they did adhere pretty strictly to the stereotypes of their personalities, there were some great surprises there as well.

I am looking forward to more from this world. I can't wait to see what happens and hopefully learn more about some of the side characters. There is also an extra scene teased at the end of the book that I can't wait to get my hands on. No spoilers but I KNEW IT!

** If the score is ONE EMOJI that means little to none of whatever category/trope was present in the book.

I'm off to a great start for 2024. This book was a wild ride. It was so fun to read.
We get to meet one of the brattiest brats to ever brat and the men who love him. The book also follows another couple. The POV is that of two brothers. We follow them as they navigate their relationshipnis as well as a who lotta outside drama in this action-packed and high heat sci-fi pnr romance.

This book is excellent!

The world building is so intriguing and there is a lot going on so you definitely have to pay attention. The story is so engaging that should not be a problem at all.

It's the first of a series. This book has a conclusion though. No cliffhanger and the seeds are planted for the next books. So go ahead read this one today.

From the very first teaser something about these guys lodged itself in my dna and wouldn’t let go. Now that they are here, the story doesn’t disappoint.

Treyu, the brattiest brat to ever…oops, wrong brat, that’s Tristan. Sorry Tristan, you’ve got competition from this “brat extraordinaire”
Zhang, who must have the patience of a saint.
Atlanta, unapologetically brutish except with Gemini and never far from his other ‘sweetheart’.
Gemini, surprisingly feisty and not afraid to fight or stand up for himself and others.

With complex world building that manages not to overshadow the plot we follow the two sets of brothers and their relationships while they work on the mystery of who wants Treyu dead - surprisingly the answer is not (quite) everyone who meets him.
A rich cast of supporting characters including an adorable little starlet called Trinket backs everything up.

I didn’t want to put this down but weirdly twisted logic also found me stalling to make it last longer because I didn’t want it to be over either.

The book doesn’t exactly have a cliffhanger ending but there is still a lot to be resolved.
Bring on book two!

Another fantastic book from Mock ❤️

Everything that made me fall in love with this author are in this book. Her writing style is amazing and the world building in the book was splendid.
If you are use to this author you will find her wonderful poly like family, filled with brat and big alpha energy haha.

Treyu and Zhang story was captivating. I was more into them then Atlanta and Gem’s one to be honest.
But the cherry on top was Merrick ❤️🥰
I have a huge thing for Soulmates and couldn’t remove my eyes from them.
I was totally immersed into this new world and was totally invested how who wanted to kill the brat? Haha.

If you like Syfy, gods, angels, archanges, demons, stars peoples, glowing people who lives forever and are super kinky, read that book.
Speaking of kinky….
If you like huge dicks, edging, cock cage, orgasm denial, size difference, spanking, feral sex, possessive MCs and alpha like tops, this book is for you.

If you liked the Tristan série from this author, you will definitely like this one too.

Spicy and fun. Lots of spanking and lots of rough sex. What's not to like? This is the first time I'm reading this author, so I don't know if there is a pre-series that I'll need to read.
Worldbuilding? Excellent. Two sets of main characters, not something I've ever read before. The author devotes time to build the story from both Atlanta and Treyu's point of view. Great secondary and background characters. And Treyu is right, the Orion family is the best.
While this book might be a lot to handle; their version of sex is as psychotic as it is hot, it was a fun read. Absorbing. Great pacing. And there's a plot between the 'fan your face' hot, sexy times. Yes, there's a lot of violence, but there's also some sweet times.
Very much looking forward to reading more about the sexy Orion brothers. And their hotter mates. No date as to when the next book comes out. Was yesterday soon enough?
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest and enthusiastic review.

Another stellar novel by S. Legend (pardon the pun 😁).

Despite being a Guardian, Treyu is a Brat that requires a firm hand. Literally.

Someone is out to get him and he's going to need all his allies, and maybe a few frenemies, to figure things out before Trey ends up as stardust.

Brilliantly meshing sci-fi elements with ancient mythology, S. Legend has created interesting worlds, populated with an array of diverse folk. It's hard not to fall in love with the side characters as well as the main crew. Little Trinket nearly steals every scene he's in (when you meet him you'll see) and there's even an appearance by Briggland and Ridomie Riker (IYKYK).

From first page to last, I was happily lost in this book. The action, intrigue, and spice was absolutely delicious. I'm emotionally invested in these characters and can't wait to see what happens next. So good!

If you enjoy sci-fi adventures, mysterious plots, spicy m/m+ relationships, domestic discipline, possessive MCs with literal "touch him and die" vibes, & brilliant banter, then this book is for you.

This book is a wild ride from start to finish, in all the best ways. I loved the concepts in the book, with the star 'theme' that absolutely delighted me. Second, all the battiness! Definitely one of my favorite parts, and the reason I'm such a fan of Legend! The world-building was, amazing. It was the perfect blend of different themes and it was so well developed.

The plot, impeccable. There's mystery, and another mystery, and a plot-twist, and ANOTHER plot-twist. As a big fan of mysteries as well, I was delighted to see it included. Trying to figure out what was going on throughout the book from all the little clues was half of the fun. The second, of course, the character interactions. And Trinket. As those of you that read will see, he is the MOST adorable little guy. I really hope he appears in the later books as well! Would definitely read them just for him. And Treyu and his love-triangle but that's going a little too far into the spoilers...

Enjoy the read!

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Its all about the opposite attraction of the star crossed drama throughout the whole book, once you start you can't stop reading the drama unfold or laughing at the sheer bratiness.

Some one is playing a nasty game that would lead to one goal Treyu as stardust. Sending  Zhang, Atlanta and Gemini in a cat and mouse hunt to find the culprits behind it. Only no one is unscathed by the upheaval in the nebuli. Was the gods laughing?!? Because not to mention that matters go from one extreme to another as Treyu's  ex shows back in the picture with an unwillingness to be A Centaurus for husband.  That's one brat that is need of..well you'll see.  Atlanta with his security blanket is hilarious,  like he would trust a centaurus to protect a guardian...with the exception of his brother that is.
