About the author

Dallas Massey is from Seymour, Missouri, and has always fostered a love of both reading and biology. He received his Master’s in Cell and Molecular Biology from Missouri State University in 2014. He returned to the same university as an online adjunct professor, teaching Concepts/Issues in Life Science. Dallas likes to incorporate his scientific knowledge into his writing wherever possible, adding a dose of authenticity to his fictional works. Though he loves writing, it was never his first career choice as his initial ambition was to become a successful genetic engineer. Unfortunately, Dallas was born with Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy, a degenerative muscle disease that grants him only limited use of his limbs, his disorder keeping him from his dream occupation. He turned to writing after the loss of his younger brother, finding it provided him a constructive way to cope.

The Kill is not just the final book in the Fall Prey trilogy it is a profound, unforgettable culmination of a story that blends action, imagination, and deep emotional truth in a way few books ever manage.

On the surface, this is an explosive sci-fi fantasy filled with vampire hunters, cybernetic warriors, and an all out battle in Washington, DC to save humanity. But beneath that thrilling exterior lies something far more meaningful. Knowing that Cyrus, Talon, and Asher Blackthorn mirror Dallas Massey and his own brothers gives every page extraordinary weight. The vampires and monsters are no longer just enemies they become symbols of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy itself, relentless and cruel, yet fiercely resisted with courage, love, and unity.

Cyrus’s transformation into a Krisnek and his reunion with Talon resurrected as a massive cyborg creates some of the most powerful moments in the trilogy. Their bond, forged through suffering and loyalty, is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Asher’s role as the uninfected brother fighting alongside them grounds the story emotionally, reminding the reader that even those untouched by the disease are deeply affected by it.

The final battle is intense, cinematic, and emotionally charged, but what truly stayed with me was the presence of their mother strong, protective, and unwavering. Her inclusion is a beautiful tribute to the real woman who not only stood beside her sons through Duchenne’s, but also fulfilled her promise to keep Dallas’s legacy alive by publishing these books.

Reading The Kill after knowing Dallas passed away makes the story incredibly moving. This book feels like a final stand, a declaration that even in the face of something unstoppable, love, imagination, and the human spirit fight back with everything they have. It is rare to read a novel where the author’s life and heart are so clearly woven into the story.

This finale left me emotional, inspired, and deeply grateful to have experienced it. The Fall Prey trilogy is a testament to resilience, brotherhood, and the power of storytelling to outlive the body. Dallas Massey’s voice lives on in these pages, and The Kill ensures it will never be forgotten.

The Kill, the final book in Dallas Massey’s Fall Prey trilogy, is not just a powerful conclusion to an action packed series it is a deeply emotional and meaningful tribute to courage, family, and perseverance in the face of an unstoppable enemy.

Having followed Cyrus, Talon, and Asher Blackthorn through this journey, this final installment hits with incredible intensity. Cyrus’s full transformation into a Krisnek feels earned and symbolic, turning his long struggle with disease into a weapon against the very evil threatening humanity. Talon’s resurrection as a massive cyborg could have been pure spectacle, but instead it carries emotional weight, especially knowing the bond between the brothers and the sacrifices they’ve already endured. Watching the brothers fight side by side is both thrilling and heartbreaking.

Asher’s role stood out to me in this book. Though he was not afflicted with the disease, his unwavering loyalty and determination to fight alongside his brothers and the Legion adds a powerful layer to the story. His perspective grounds the narrative and reinforces the idea that this battle belongs to the entire family not just those who are physically afflicted.

The showdown in Washington, DC is epic, chaotic, and filled with urgency, but what truly elevates this book is its heart. Knowing that the vampires and monsters represent the many faces of Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy gives the story a profound emotional depth. Every battle feels symbolic. Every victory feels hard won. Every loss carries real weight.

Learning that Dallas Massey passed away before the completion of the trilogy makes The Kill even more impactful. That his mother honored her promise and brought his final works to publication is incredibly moving. The love, struggle, and resilience of Dallas and his family are woven into every page, transforming this book into a legacy rather than just a story.

The Kill is a fierce, emotional, and unforgettable finale. It delivers intense action, strong character arcs, and a message of defiance against overwhelming odds. This is a book that honors life, family, and the fight against a cruel disease. A truly powerful ending to an extraordinary trilogy, and a story that deserves to be remembered.

The Kill, the final book in Dallas Massey’s Fall Prey trilogy, is powerful on every level thrilling as a story and devastatingly beautiful as a reflection of real life. I finished this book in awe of both the imagination on the page and the courage behind it.

As a novel, The Kill delivers everything you want in a finale. Cyrus Blackthorn’s evolution into a Krisnek is intense and inspiring, and seeing him fight alongside Talon resurrected as a massive cyborg after succumbing to the same disease creates some of the most memorable and emotionally charged moments in the entire trilogy. Asher’s role as the brother untouched by Muscular Dystrophy but fully committed to the fight adds balance and realism, reminding us that this battle affects everyone, not just those directly afflicted.

The showdown in Washington, DC is epic, cinematic, and filled with urgency. Yet what truly elevates this book is the knowledge of what the story represents. The vampires and monsters are no longer just enemies they are the many faces of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy itself. Every battle feels symbolic, every victory hard earned, and every loss deeply personal.

Knowing that Dallas passed away in December 2022 makes this book especially moving. This finale reads like a final stand one last, fearless fight against something relentless and cruel. The presence of the brothers’ mother in the story is incredibly powerful, mirroring the real life promise she made to keep Dallas’s legacy alive by publishing his work. That promise is felt in every chapter.

The Kill is more than a conclusion to a trilogy; it is a tribute to resilience, family, and the refusal to surrender to impossible odds. Dallas Massey poured his heart, his struggles, and his love for his family into these pages, and it shows.

The Kill, the final book in Dallas Massey’s Fall Prey Trilogy, is a powerful, emotional, and unforgettable conclusion that goes far beyond a typical vampire thriller. I finished this book feeling both awed by its scope and deeply moved by its heart.

Cyrus Blackthorn’s transformation into a Krisnek a hunter created to destroy vampires is gripping, but what truly elevates the story is the bond between the three brothers. Cyrus, Talon, and Asher each fight the same enemy in very different ways, and their journeys feel raw, personal, and heroic. Talon’s resurrection as a massive cyborg is intense and cinematic, while Asher’s role with the Legion grounds the story in courage, sacrifice, and humanity. Bringing them together in Washington DC for a final stand raises the stakes to an epic, world-saving level.

What makes The Kill truly special is the meaning behind the story. Knowing that the vampires and monsters symbolize the many brutal aspects of Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy gives the book incredible emotional depth. This isn’t just a fight against supernatural evil, it’s a reflection of a real-life battle faced by Dallas Massey, his brothers, and his mother. That knowledge makes every confrontation, every sacrifice, and every victory hit harder.

The fact that Dallas’s mother fulfilled her promise to publish his final books after his passing makes this novel feel like a legacy, not just a story. You can feel the love, pain, and determination woven into every page. The Kill is heartbreaking, inspiring, and ultimately triumphant.

This is a must-read finale one that honors Dallas Massey’s imagination, his family, and his fight. I highly recommend this book and the entire trilogy. It’s a powerful reminder that even in the face of overwhelming darkness, love and courage can still save the world.

The Kill is an unforgettable conclusion to the Fall Prey trilogy both thrilling and deeply moving. Dallas Massey’s imagination shines brilliantly in this finale, but knowing the story mirrors his own life makes every page resonate on an entirely different level.

The Blackthorn brothers are extraordinary characters. Cyrus, transformed into a Krisnek, is a hero shaped by unimaginable challenges, and his reunion with Talon resurrected as a massive cyborg is both epic and emotionally charged. Asher’s role as the uninfected but equally brave brother adds depth, showing that courage and loyalty aren’t limited to those battling the disease directly. Their mother’s presence throughout the story is profoundly moving, a reflection of real life devotion and the promise she kept to ensure Dallas’s voice would be heard.

The action sequences are cinematic and relentless, culminating in the dramatic showdown in Washington, DC. Yet the heart of the story lies in its symbolism: the vampires and monsters represent the relentless challenges of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which Dallas and his family faced with unyielding courage. This dual layer of fantasy and reality elevates the book far beyond typical sci-fi, making it a story of both epic battles and personal triumph.

Reading this knowing Dallas passed away in December 2022 makes the story even more poignant. The Kill is not just a thrilling conclusion, it is a tribute to resilience, family, and the power of imagination to transcend life’s toughest trials.

The Kill is a breathtaking conclusion to Dallas Massey’s Fall Prey trilogy a story that combines high octane action with profound emotional depth. From the first page, I was swept into the Blackthorn brothers’ fight against the vampires threatening humanity, and the stakes could not be higher. The transformation of Cyrus into a Krisnek, Talon’s resurrection as a cyborg, and Asher’s growth as a soldier make this a thrilling and deeply moving story of resilience, family, and determination.

What makes this book truly extraordinary is the way it mirrors Dallas Massey’s real life journey with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The monsters and vampires feel symbolic of the challenges he faced, and the courage of the characters reflects his unstoppable spirit. The inclusion of his mother and the family dynamic adds heart and humanity to the epic battles, making the story more than just a vampire hunting saga, it’s a testament to love, perseverance, and legacy.

Fall Prey: The Kill is an emotional and powerful conclusion to the Fall Prey trilogy. While it delivers plenty of action, monsters, and high stakes battles, what really makes this book stand out is the heart behind the story. Knowing the real life inspiration behind the characters gives the entire novel a deeper meaning that stays with you long after you finish reading.
