At first, Russ intended to have a go at picking up the agreeable stranger he met on the subway thanks to those bumpy tracks. This was quite a unique story that I picked up free. It started as a fairly standard contemporary m/m romance, based on the cute premise of two men meeting in the subway. The bumps on the track force one to stumble into the arms of another and thus starts a conversation.

The story is of instant attraction between the two men but that attraction does not result in a physical relationship. This relationship is based on caring. Ben is young and sweet and struggling. Russ is older, wealthier and feels a strong protective instinct toward the younger man.

The story is told from Russ's POV and as it progresses, Russ drops hints of things to come, giving an air of mystery. In the second half of the book, those things start to eventuate.

I am not sure I loved the way the book turned out once the paranormal elements became obvious. I thought the author did a nice job in the first half but the explanations of the paranormal side weren't clear and I found it a little confusing.

Still, not bad for a freebie and a pleasant way to spend a bit of time. 2.5 stars
