I got this book for free, in exchange of an honest review, from the group Making Connections.

this book was a fun-filled romp and I finished it in no time.
loved the humor in the story.-That Guy lol
also liked how the medieval atmosphere was mixed with modern slang- everytime the evil witch Sasha began a sentence with "like,.." I had to try not to giggle.
out of the three Rednecks, my favorite was Fred. But my most favorite character from this book was the Wiseman.
the book reads like my favorite cartoons- y'know where the narrator goes: "Meanwhile in New York City" as the scene changes!

Looking forward to reading more by this author!

I purchased this book from Smashwords because I've reviewed one of the author's short stories, and have since become friends with Mr. Sawyer. The title really caught my attention, possibly because I live in the south and it isn't all that uncommon to see a mullet wandering around even now.

The Good: The story is a very creative fantasy/ comedy. From the very beginning all I could think was, "who comes up with this stuff?" My brain could never have produced something so far off the beaten path. It is an absolutely unique tale, with a perfectly hate-able villain. Seriously, I would love to find Sasha and cut her simply for her overuse of the word, "like."

The character development was well executed and the history, or back story, was neatly added along the way, so you get a very clear picture of how the world of Ekoda ended up where it was. There were some unexpected twists as well.

The Bad: I'm not really a fan of instant love or "fated" relationships, so George's relationship with Colleen was a bit of a stretch for me. I know the book is not intended to be a romance, so their relationship was not the focal point, which makes it forgivable, even if it did rub me the wrong way.

The beginning half of the book has a much faster pace than the second half. I felt that it slowed down a lot towards the end and some parts fell a little flat. The end itself was excellent, it was just the stretch between the 50% mark and roughly the 75/80% mark, that seemed to take longer.

Over all, it wasn't a bad read, it just wasn't really for me. I can however, definitely see it being a favorite for others. Sawyer has an excellent imagination and I wouldn't hesitate to try some of his other work, just to see what he's come up with now.

What’s to be done when a duo of mean and nasty witches (one beautiful, one not-quite-so) decide on World Domination while simultaneously shopping and spa-ing? Even strong Kings and wise councilors can’t seem to halt their intermittent progress (intermittent because periodically interrupted for manicures, pedicures, and styling). Enter a trio of beer-loving, not-too-thoughtful, mullet-styling, Rednecks, denizens of Trailer Country, the region that lies between the Witches and their ultimate destination, Beverly Hills. When an unforeseen magical assault strikes Trailer Country, Billy, George, and Fred discover they may be the only Rednecks immune-perhaps because they are all three days into sobriety due to a shortage of cash. Quickly the truth becomes clear: the Trio must save the world, and in the process preserve Redneck culture. If the two Witches are allowed to continue, the world will be unlivable for normal folk. It won’t be easy; it may not even be possible; but George, Fred, and Billy know their cause is a just one. Everyone else they encounter is suffering severe magical hangovers; and the Witches Sasha and Matilda first interrogate, then kill, all the kings, utilizing the information they gleaned during the spelled interrogations to discover the weaknesses of other regions. Are they unstoppable? Or will the Sober Redneck Three win out in the end?
Read on and find out, laughing all the way!

Well-written, a smooth read, and catchy, “Lord of the Mullets” is the first novel in a trilogy. Surprisingly polished, it doesn’t read like a debut novel at all. A comedic fantasy (epic combined with contemporary rural and urban), this story delivers gentle pokes, all in fun, at certain subcultural milieus and traditional fairy tales, leading the reader on a chortling journey with well-drafted protagonists.

Lord of the Mullets by A. M. Sawyer
A mythical magical land...
Matilda and Sasha rule the world. They make things appear and can control the king.
He has nothing left worth any value.
King does tell the women the weaknesses of the enemy surrounding them on all accounts.
Now the women take their time to travel to the different parts to conquer the enemies
there so they can rule.
Fred, George and Billy have no one to ask for a loan so they can get money for beer. They
are the southern army, Trailer Country better known as. A black cloud appears and afflicts pain and hurt on everybody but the 3 boys. The others are withering in pain and seem to have a hangover.
The boys wander around to try to figure out what's going on.
On their way to cut off the witches from destroying a town they hit the gun shack and armor
themselves with what they will need.
Each chapter we find them at a different location and it's explained how they got there and why
they are there and how it will help them beat the witches and warn the others.
Lots of quests, almost like Lord of the Rings, and the Three Musketeers along with several other movies.
There is so much to get out of this book. At times it's also like a comic book series with the 'SLAP' and other action words. I like where they go and what they do to achieve the final outcome. Didn't see that ending coming.

I love this book, my favorite part is where the rednecks get tortured beverly hills style. My favorite character is Collen, if she was in reality I think that we would get along. All in all this is a family book that has action and love and adventure, with some twists. I think the Author was having too much fun thinking up this story and you can tell by the way it is written.

I recieved Lord of the Mullets from the author A.M. Sawyer for review.

Two witches, Sasha and Matilda who are very evil and cruel want to rule the world. Sasha is a very powerful witch, the strongest in the land. No one has ever been able to fight her and win. They start out on their journey to rule the world and end up in Trailer Country where the rednecks live. They find out from the King of Eldies that the rednecks weakness was beer. So they put a spell on all the beer in Trailer country that will cause everyone to be in pain with hangovers. But there are these three rednecks, George, Fred and Billy that they don't count on that are out of money and can't buy beer. They have used up all of their resources to obtain beer when they are out.

When George, Fred and Billy see what Sasha and Matilda have done to all of their friends they decide to go after them to try and stop them from taking over the world. George, Fred and Billy meet a few very interesting people along the way. These people give them advice that will help them in their fight against the witches.

Lord of the Mullets started out as a very slow read for me. At first it just didn't hold my interest very much at all. About the middle of the book it got better although it was still kinda hard to read. I mean I liked George and his friends and they did say and do some funny things at times. But right at the end it really picked up and I started to enjoy it a lot more. I don't know why but George, Fred and Billy kinda reminded me of the three stooges. George being the leader and seemed like he had a little more since than Fred or Billy had. Maybe that is what made me think of the three stooges. The story was well written and I really do like reading about witches it just didn't appeal to me very much.

Let me start by saying, I won a copy of this book through Goodreads. I don't go in with a lot of high hopes for vanity press books. Sometimes they are good, occasionally they are great. This book? This is the sort of thing I fear.

This book is awful. I give it one star because that is the minimum rating. I feel bad in doing so, because I know that author A.M. Sawyer must have labored to put out a book, any book, which is more than so many of us ever accomplish....but...it is REALLY bad.

From its horrible use of cliche's mashed alongside each other in a fantasy "world" that makes no sense, to the nerve grating style of the narrative, this book has no redeeming qualities.

Twice in my life have I put down a book and never picked it up again. This is the second book. It is too painful to continue. No amount of rewrites will ever save this book, it is just...awful. It actually prevented me from picking up other books because it soured my taste for literature and reading in general.

Yes, it is that bad.
