Colleen Caldwell is the owner of Triple C Ranch, a boarding and teaching facility located in the hills and valleys of beautiful Simi Valley, California. Colleen, a gorgeous young widow at thirty-two, has a passion for horses and soft spot for the underdog. Joan Caldwell, the mother of Colleen's dead husband, lives with her and works the accounting end of the business. Our story begins on a hot, hung over, August Sunday morning. Colleen is training a young filly, when the horse suddenly goes crazy and nearly tramples her to death. From nowhere, a mysterious cowboy appears in the dust and saves the day, and then disappears before Colleen gets the chance to thank him. Colleen is rushed to the hospital where she meets August Riley, a woman with a troubled past, and Leah, a nurse with a heart and the knowledge of how to use it. The first installment of the Triple C Ranch Saga follows Colleen's journey through recovery, where she learns more than she ever bargained for.
This first novel for new author Rodney V. Earle is a Can't Miss!
From the first three words of the story, "Here! Come on!", he grabs the reader and pulls them right in, not letting go until long after the last page is turned. There are numerous vignettes that will pique your curiosity and make you marvel at the thought of how they'll all come together.
The story is of love and loss, friendship and hardship. The character development is fantastic. You will finish the novel feeling as though you really know these people. At times, the story is so descript that you're transported right to the Southern California ranch or the hospital room where the story takes place. You'll smell the bacon on the breakfast tray. You'll feel the hot August sun.
You will root for the characters. You will fist pump. You will laugh. And you will cry.
This is the first installment in the "Triple C Ranch Saga", slated to consist of at least three novels. You will reach the end of this great read and wish the second installment was already available for you to jump right in.

Remembering August starts out with a young widow who trains horses and has a boarding facility. While working with a young horse Colleen's mind travels back in time to some moments in her life. It makes me wonder if she is rehashing the moments or thinking she should have done something different during that time.
While this story only covers about 3-4 days or possibly a week in Colleen's life the story has a Big impact. I know most people might think that a story that only cover's those few of days would think that a book like this would be in to much detail but that is just not true. The author has created a wonderful book that had me crying at the end. This is the first in a series of books. I am eagerly awaiting the second book in the series. I want to know how some people tie into the book and how others are left behind.
After finishing this book it will leave the reader wondering why the author killed off such a wonderful character. It will also leave the reader wondering why so many mysterious characters. I know that the author will let everyone know why in the future Triple C Ranch Saga series. According to the author there will be a total of 3 possible 4 books in this series.
The author has written some very strong female characters in this book. According to the author he grew up with some very strong females in his life most importantly his mother. He states that he could not write a female character any other way. The strongest and main character in this book is Colleen, but there are several other important and wonderful character in this book.

this book so had me it was so great Colleen and August meet in the hospital where they were room mates, Colleen has been trampled by a horse she had bought and was training, August had been severly beaten by her boyfiend (her husband is away in the service)watching the friendship develope was funny and sweet and great then Colleen offers August the chance at a new life a place to live a job at the ranch and even gave her some cash and I just can't wait to see what happens but no the author leaves you hanging left to your own imagination what happens to August, then I see a man wrote this book grrrrrrrrr a women could have gave a wonderful ending or even a not so wonderful one but at least you would know what happened. I think this is the first mean review I ever wrote.
I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF THIS TRILOGY!!!!
There's so many questions I need answered.... first, who is Jim? Why would someone do what they did to Sheila's salon? What's in MaeBelle's meatloaf that makes it award-winning? And there's another question I would like answered but if I asked it here, it would be a spoiler. And I don't want to spoil anything. You need to read it yourself to see what I mean. When you do, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I loved this book.
This book could have used a good editor as well as proofreaders for both English and Spanish.
I found the characters flat and implausible, the emotions melodramatic (and again, implausible) and it felt like several separate stories being occasionally interspersed. I read through to the end, hoping I would get a sense at the end of a meaning or story arc I hadn't picked up on. But there was nothing surprising, no tying up of separate stories, no lovable person in any of the book, with the possible exception of a nurse who was still more of a caricature than a character.
Written in such a way that it sucks you in from the very first line. I enjoyed the ranch setting, and I could totally relate to the danger involved with training young horses. The heroine overcomes both emotional and physical pain in her personal journey. This is my personal opinion, but I did not care for many profanities that sprinkled this book.
Received this book on January 9, 2012. Looks like my kind of book!
Could not wait to start this book, with a family of 5th generation of Arizona ranchers (that came from Texas to settle in the West) this is one series that I'm sure will hold my complete attention.
really enjoyed this book. it was hard to put down. can't wait to read the next book in this series. this book definitely left you wanting t know what was going t happen next.
I applaud people who write novels. I can honestly say that I am happy to be able to read novels and not have to write them. Many of my friends are creative writers and I see the struggle they go through to find the perfect word or how to describe a scene so that the reader can see it in their mind.
I was first introduced to this author when I entered a Goodreads drawing. I didn't win the book, but the author kindly allowed me to read the book and review it. I have to say that I really did not like to plot or the characters, but didn't feel that I could post a negative review for a book that was given to me to review.
However, my husband saw this listed on kindle and downloaded it because he thought I would like it due to my liking westerns and romances. I re-read the novel again and my opinion has not changed. I found the characters to be flat and one dimensional. Things happened that were really implausible and the way that characters interacted with one another and the dialogue between characters left much to be desired.
I applaud Earle for writing a novel and for getting it published. But, I can't honestly recommend this novel to anyone else.
a simple, fun read that filled a day stuck in bed with a broken leg! the story was rather shallow, and the characters way too emotional, with too many tragedies affecting them.
