One of Sara's investigations risks going public when a curious journalist finds witnesses. Sara manages to convince the journalist that she shouldn't run the story and reveal the Witchblade. Lieutenant Phipps from Internal Affairs approches the journalist, still determined to find evidence against Sara.

Sara Pezzini will never be the same as she faces the one foe no superhero can ever defeat... change.

A great ending to the Ron Marz run on Witchblade. Stjepan Sejic also does the art for the entirety of this volume and it's fantastic, as always.

Taimat, an ancient enemy of both the Witchblade and the Angelus has risen and is going after Sara and Dani. At the same time, an Internal Affairs agent has learned of the Witchblade and gives Sara an ultimatum: either quit the Witchblade or quit the police force.

This series was a surprise hit for me. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a superhero story outside of Marvel and DC. It's also a good example of a female-led superhero comic done right. The character development of Sara (and Dani) over these 80 or so issues has been done really well.

This was so much better than the tacky, silly Rebirth comics. I wasn’t familiar with Rob Marz and his work, but the various interviews and articles interspersed in this book with the comic material praised him up and down, and I certainly found his writing much more compelling than the Rebirth books. It may be because the Rebirth books I read felt like pinups with more attention paid to t&a than story (in my opinion). This volume felt stronger, the dialogue more natural. He amazing digital paintings helped, too.

I was trying to get the 4th volume of the other series and ended up with this one. Definitely feel like I'm missing out on the beginning of the story, but enjoyed it anyway.

Witchblade Redemption Vol. 4 includes Witchblade issues #146, 147, 148, 149, 150, a nice cover art gallery, and a sneak preview at Witchblade #151 – Let’s just call it graphic novel heaven. Redemption is a marvelous addition to the graphic novel world with its vivacious artwork, enticing story, and “oh so sexy” characters. From them moment I saw the Kick-A$$ cover, I wanted, no I NEEDED, to read Redemption. As a lover of great storylines with amazing female heroines who ooze confidence, hotness, and power, this graphic novel delivers tenfold and then some.

The story begins in Ancient Egypt. The Pharaoh’s guard has captured a powerful goddess – or so she thinks – named Tiamat. Enticed by the goddess, the Pharaoh does what any sexually charged man would do in the presence of a beautiful woman; he lowered his guard and allowed her the opportunity to unleash her powers on his people. However, before Tiamat was able to take control of the kingdom she was stopped by two women who wielded the Witchblade, an ancient sentient weapon with two components, the Darkness and the Angelus (or light and dark). It’s sort of like Batman’s suite, only much, much more remarkable. The warrior lovers entrapped Tiamat’s spirit/essence into a crown, and throughout the generations it became lost by falling into to the hands of different nations.

Fast-forward to present day and our MC is a detective named Sara Pezzini the wielder of the Darkness side of the Witchblade. She is currently working a case where, low and behold, an ancient crown has been stolen. From these circumstances, the magnetic story of Sara, her friend and Angelus Witchblade wielder Dani, is born. I cannot express how much I absolutely love the story. Not only did it capture my attention, but it left me desiring more even after I absorbed the sneak peek of issue #151 with lightening speed. The dialogue, the concept, the beautifully handcrafted artwork, and the characters were so well put together it was more like a giant novel than a simple comic. Never having read the series before, I must admit that I am now HOOKED, CAPTURED, and a HUGE FAN of the series. Witchblade is by far one of the best comics I have read, and trust me I read a lot of them.

If you are looking for a graphic novel that has a compelling story, read Witchblade. If you are looking for a skillfully designed graphic novel, then read Witchblade. If you crave strong female main characters and superhero type abilities, then you MUST read Witchblade. I promise there is never a dull moment in Redemption. The beginning, the middle, and the end are all very satisfying. But you don’t have to take my word for it, read all 160 glorious pages yourself.

I was trying to hold back and give this four stars, but my feels got in the way. Five stars it is. This volume ends an era of Witchblade, with long-running creative team of Ron Marz and Stjepan Sejic leaving Witchblade to work on another Top Cow title, Artifacts. This is sort of the perfect goodbye, but as Sara says, that doesn't mean I have to like it. That's not entirely true. I love it. But I'm also very sad. I know this isn't goodbye to Sara, but I don't know how she'll be done by the new creative team, and that makes me hesitant, because I love her...

Okay. Enough. Keep it together.
Okay...

Let's start with one thing I always love to praise. It's great when a book includes LGBTQ characters, and this book has - not one - but four! They're all women, but it makes sense in the context of the story and the universe. What's even better is no one feels like a token. Everyone has their purpose, and the characters are respected.

The story is pretty awesome, with an ancient Witchblade-Angelus enemy returning to exact revenge on the current bearers. Meanwhile, Sara's being hounded by an internal affairs officer who knows about the Witchblade and wants her off the police force.
Of course this means Dani's in this (*squeals*) and so is Finch (*snorts and giggles*)! And there's a much anticipated and satisfying Angelus-Witchblade team-up that kicks ass. Okay, wait, there are two bearer team-ups, both of which are OHOHOH YESSSSSSSS! Let's just say I didn't want to put this book down.

...And then there's the end... *holds hands up defensively* I mean, it's good! I guess it makes sense... But I still wish there was another way... Regardless of what happens, Sara's in for a big change, and that provides a perfect entry point for the new creative team... *sniffles quietly*

All of the art is done by Stjepan Sejic in this one. And thank goodness, because he sure gives Witchblade its due in saying his goodbye. Each panel is meticulously painted with such quality and detail it makes me stare. His work has become so refined compared to when he started on Witchblade, and has been whipped back into shape from the later points where it looks like he was getting tired.

*long sigh*

It's good, okay? Really good.

Witchblade Rebirth, vol 1 is already on my bookshelf, but I think I'm gonna take an emotional break from Witchblade for a little while. The thing is, after what happened, I feel like I need more Witchblade... I'm torn, aaaaaaaaaarrrghhh!

Just when I thought that the new millenium had pulled all of the dated Image creators into the modern era, I run across a new Witchblade trade at the library and realize that some things never change. Ron Marz continues to write Witchblade as everything that was wrong with 90's comics- especially Image comics. Instead of trying to make it readable, Marz drags it down into the muck where it becomes more like Lady Death and Vampirella than anything else- a cult figure that has too much skin showing, overly large tits, and very little thought behind the story. Toss this one in the trash.

I love the illustrations, they are beautiful and detailed, and I love all the color. as for the story I wish I would have read the others to really get a back story but it was pretty good, I like the battle of good and evil and seems to be the theme for all comics and graphic novels. I would prefer to read the physical version instead of a digital one, graphic novels just seem way better in the physical form.

Clearly great enjoyment can be had from this volume as a stand alone. Even more for those collectors enjoying the WitchBlade series. Ate the whole thing in one setting.

Read free from Netgalley and I really liked it. I want to read the rest of the series now. It was dark and lovely.
