In the final installment of the Destiny Series, Lauren and Max still yearn for their normal life together. Although finally united, they’re unable to enjoy their bliss when they learn nine people have been viciously murdered. Lauren and Max are consumed by guilt when they realize the murderer is a young man who saved Max’s life months earlier. Lauren and Max must decide how much they’re willing to risk to help the young man and destroy the evil that resides within him. The only thing the Council and the Cabinet can agree on Lauren and Max need to stay away. Lauren and Max worry that this time the evil may consume them both. Nobody involved saw the power of Destiny’s Wrath until it was unleashed.
Nancy was born in Sioux City Iowa, left the cold of the Midwest in 1991 and only returns to see family in the summer time. She spent ten years traveling the world as a US Marine and settled in rural SC with her husband and two children.
She has written ten novels (3 x Paranormal Romance, 4 x Mythological Romance and 3 x Suspenseful Romance). Nancy enjoys reading all types of Paranormal and Young Adult literature.
Lauren and Max get engaged and all hell breaks loose the next day. The boy that is hosting Samael has gone on a killing spree and while in jail Samael jumps ship into the arresting officer. Max and Lauren feel some guilt for what has happened and want to help make it right. Will they stay together? Will they complete their souls? Go buy a copy and find out!
I really liked this whole series and it has been tied up nicely. And there are still surprises happening in the last book that keep it interesting and ends satisfingly. Thank you for one hell of a ride, Nancy! Looking forward to what you bring to the table next!
It feels like I've waited forever to read Destiny's Wrath! This book was definitely worth the wait! When we last left Lauren and Max, Samuel transferred into Jimmy and Max was free from the threat of death at the hands of the Council. Now, several months later, the results of the events on that long-ago night are coming back to haunt them.
Nancy Straight did a superb job on this book, and I was glued to my seat from the beginning! This book definitely takes our beloved characters on a darker journey. This aspect not only allows the characters to grow but helps ground the storyline in a more realistic set of events. Nancy has definitely grown as an author and this book proves it time and time again. Although I was sad to see the story come to an end, I was pleased with the ending. I'm anxious to see what she will come out with next.
While I recommend this one to Young Adult Paranormal Romance fans, the writing and darker, adult tones of the story will appeal to the older, more mature Young Adult fans. It's definitely a page turner, with twists and turns that create a wild and fun ride! Get your copy and get settled in . . . you will not want to put it down!
I put off reading Destiny's Wrath because I knew that I would be sad once it all came to an end. Yes I am sad, but gosh what a way to end the series.
Most of the book is Samael and the wrath he is taking out on innocent humans. And goodness the misery he is pouring out on the world is horrible. I even expressed to Nancy that I could not imagine what she went through while writing some of the scenes. But like always, she did a fabulous job telling her story and getting it out there.
Destiny’s Wrath was the more intense book of the series. So much happens between so many people you need to pay attention; you’ll want to pay attention. You will be hurting for characters you just met and out right fuming with a certain character you have known throughout the series. Samael is one sick, freak demon. Yep, one of those characters you love to hate. Hey all good books have one.
Straight is a heck of a story teller, taking the Destiny series to a whole new level with this one. You will not be able to put the book down, itching to see how it all ends. Trust me, its good! And like Nancy told me it’s an emotional end but you will have a smile on your face when closing the book.
After telling the Council and the Cabinet that she and Max want to be left alone, Lauren is devastated to learn of Jimmy's actions. Jimmy is the willing host to Samael, the demon who possessed Max's body and was obsessed with Lauren.
Although darker than Meeting Destiny and Destiny's Revenge, it seems the natural progression considering the action at the end of Destiny's Revenge. Even though darker, it still showcases Nancy's specific style of drawing the reader in and hooking you on the storyline. I definitely had a hard time putting this book down once I began to read.
You also meet new characters who play pivotal roles in the outcome of the book. The ending was fabulous and not at all expected. I don't want to give anything away but I will tell you that you will not be disappointed.
I just ask that you do not let the darker tones of the storyline turn you away from reading Destiny's Wrath. It is an excellent book that finishes off a fabulous series that I am sad to see end. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the trials of Lauren and Max.
Ok, I seriously loved this series. It was so fun to read! The third book did read a little differently to me though. The resolution felt a little abrupt, I still loved how it was done, but it was abrupt. Also, as a heads up, book 1&2 were easily PG, but book 3 was definitely a pg-13. It was a little darker than the first two. And a bit more mature. Just be forewarned.
I can't stop thinking of these books. So well written and entertaining.
Firstly, it's time for cover appreciation. I adore all the covers in this trilogy, yet I maybe like this one the best. I think the girl is stunning but this time we get to see Max too. I seriously heart me some Max. He is my fictional all time favourite man. So it is great to see him on this last cover. I think it is a beautiful cover and so fitting. Seriously, much love to Dreamscape Covers!
I am sat here asking myself a question. How on Earth do I write this review? I am a person who talks a lot and generally has a lot to say about books, so how is it that I am speechless?
The answer to that question is simple. Nancy Straight. How so? Well sit back and let me tell you.
*WARNING: Grab a drink and get comfortable*
Nancy Straight is an amazing author. She has created a beautiful trilogy that I am proud to call my favourite series of ALL TIME! I have read a lot of books and will read a lot more in the future. But no matter what, The Destiny Series will stay with me. It is part of my soul now. Nancy created some amazing characters and an awe-inspiring paranormal romance that you never know where it is heading or how you will feel from one moment to the next.
I was in hook, line and sinker from the first word on the first page of MEETING DESTINY and that sensation didn't end with the last word on the last page of DESTINY'S WRATH. Instead it ingrained itself in my memories and in my heart.
I have loved some books in my time. But there is just something about this trilogy that I cannot put into mere words.
In book one I met and fell in love with Max Meyer. He will forever be one of my all time favourite fictional crushes. Not only is he handsome but he is a good person with a good heart and a courageous soul. I also developed a bit of a girl crush on Lauren Davis. She is so pure of heart. I totally love her.
As I sit here writing this, I feel despondent. I am heart-broken. Not because this book ended badly. More so because I know that this is the end. I will never see Max or Lauren again. (Okay I will because I'll re-read the series, but you know what I mean.)
I guess you're waiting for me to get a grip on myself, get over the smooshy stuff and just get on with my review? Well, I'm not sure I can. The first book left me with a book hangover and I think the trilogy has left me that way too.
All I can tell you about this book in and of itself is this:
DESTINY'S WRATH is the conclusion to Lauren and Max's journey. They are set to face maybe their hardest challenge yet. Samael has taken possession of the body of a teenage boy. In doing so, he has gone on a killing spree and murdered 9 people. What can Lauren and Max do? Can Lauren really use the powers she took from Samael when he held her captive? Powers she knows nothing about using to her advantage. Can she learn what needs to be done?
Nothing about this final book was ever meant to be an easy journey. In their life together, they were meant to attain Empathy, Trust, Virtue and Passion. Lauren had been able to attain Courage in MEETING DESTINY when she put herself in the position to take the bullet instead of the young boy. Well they do say 'Ad Astra Per Aspera' - A Rough Road Leads To The Stars - and for Lauren & Max, it sure hasn't been easy. But then I guess nothing in life that is worth having comes easily.
All I can say is, this may have been the toughest part of their journey together, but it was also the most fulfilling.
The end of this story held a mixture of emotions for me. It was a mixture of sadness, loss, happiness and joy. To find out why I say that, read it for yourself. I promise you won't be sorry you did.
Nancy Straight has an amazing way with words. She has an uncanny way of using a few words but making the most impact. Those words have a habit of worming their way into your heart and soul.
I really am looking forward to a lot more from Nancy. She has the makings of a best-selling author. Is she the next Rachel Vincent? Is she the next Laurell K Hamilton? No! She's Nancy Straight! She doesn't need to compare herself to other authors. Her work speaks for itself.
Many, many thanks to Nancy for the chance to review this series. You rocked my world in a way I can never fully express. Thank you just isn't enough!
Destiny's Wrath is the third and final book in the Destiny series by Nancy Straight. I want to send out a personal thank you to Nancy Straight for allowing me the opportunity to read this book! I really wanted to finish out this trilogy and because of you, I was able to!
Short Synopsis: Lauren and Max just want to live a “normal” life, filling their days with each other and the love they share but destiny has had different plans for them since the beginning of their past and present lives. In this last installment of the Destiny trilogy, Lauren and Max work together to fulfill their rolls in destiny’s plan all the while trying to defeat an aggressive body jumping demon, Samuel, who’s obsession with Lauren has crossed over into the sadistic! Lauren and Max struggle with right and wrong and finding themselves altering what their definition of good versus evil is, so they can finally have that normal life they so desperately crave.
Review: Once again, Nancy Straight takes us on a incredible journey with two of the most inspiring characters I’ve read in the paranormal romance genre. Lauren and Max are catapulted into these circumstances in which they literally have to choose between themselves and the rest of humanity. They have to conquer extraordinary odds in hopes they will be able to reach the end of this journey together. They have to trust in each other against the advice from opposing supernatural forces who are trying to sway their decisions. Straight does a spectacular job concluding this trilogy that is both satisfying and thrilling. I’ve loved Lauren and Max’s story since the beginning of book one. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the way she humanized Samuel towards the end of book three. I actually felt sympathetic for him and could see why he was doing the things he was doing. In my opinion, that’s when you know you are reading great literature, when the author can convince the reader to sympathize with the antagonist in the story. The supporting characters were very interesting, revisiting previous characters and introducing new ones as well. The story held my attention the whole way through and I just couldn’t put it down! I read through the night in order to finish it! The author does an amazing job concluding this story and answering the questions we’ve had since book one.
Conclusion: I would definitely recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves a great story filled with romance, humanity, paranormal elements and a well of deep thinking material. Im in love with Straight’s writing! This book was an excellent way to end this trilogy, yet left it open enough that if the author wanted to revisit these characters, it’s possible. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next and I look forward to seeing her career as an author expand into her next journey!
A great finale to the story. It was darker than the previously written books. However, this book did a great job wrapping up the plot and leaving the reader satisfied. This book and the whole trilogy deserves five glittery stars. Highly recommend!
To be completely honest, I'm conflicted about how I feel about these books. I liked them, liked the story-most of the time-and thought that I was all very well put together and written with style and grace.
Lauren and Max...man, have they had a tuff go of it, or what? I'm not going to go into lengthy details, but my goodness, these poor two people...Trail after trail but they did succeed and triumph. I thought that they were extremely well suited for each other. Max does take the blame for stuff, a lot, though and Lauren has a slightly impulsive but overall loving nature.
Coming from someone who doesn't usually read...murder&mystery&extremeamountsoftensionnovels, I found myself hopping on hot coals. I really liked the story-for the most part and didn't mind a little bit of drama...actually, to my surprise, I was threw myself wholly into the story, after we met Max. But anyways, this was such an interesting experience. A nice change from all the teen angst I've gotten into lately.
I feel like this review is all over the place. Sorry!!!
Let's skip to Max. Lauren has been dreaming about Max for four years. Every time she dreams of him, he tells her she's his destiny and to prepare for the trails she's about to face. And yes, the trails are all encompassing. But they are intermixed with sweetness and hope.
Over all, I was very pleased with this trilogy. It's a thriller, through and through, but it focuses on the things that we want to hear of: love, hope, happiness, and gives you nice little tingles all over when you turn that last page. I highly recommend.
Oh what can I say about the last book. Well it was Awesome. I thought it was a perfect ending. I took my time with the last one just so I could take in every bit of the story. I truly enjoyed Lauren and Max's story. I thought the story flowed like water. I liked that Max and Lauren stuck together as a couple but also as one team. Many books try to have one partner solve the problem to protect the other. But the author showed what a true relationship is like. When you truly love someone and become one you chose to fight together and chose whats right for the both of you. I loved the end of the book. Their walk through the woods to the cabin and the story that unfolded was heart shattering but also heart warming at the same time. Thanks Nancy for sharing these amazing stories with us. I surly will read them again.
In the final installment of the Destiny Series, Lauren and Max still yearn for their normal life together. Although finally united, they’re unable to enjoy their bliss when they learn nine people have been viciously murdered. The murderer is a young man who saved Max’s life months earlier. Lauren and Max worry that this time the evil may consume them both. Nobody involved saw the power of Destiny’s Wrath until it was upon them.
Finishing this series was bitter-sweet. I absolutely love Lauren and Max and will miss them terribly, but I’m thrilled with the Destiny Series and am excited to share it with all of you. I hope you love it!
This was a thrilling...gripping....spiral turning....never able to guess series. I was going through one of them phases, where I just read a great series and couldn't find anything I thought was enticing enough. So I was going through my kindle and happen to see this series. So I said I will read a couple of pages to see what I think. Meeting Destiny Book 1, right off the bat, Lauren got shot OMG! Than meet Max (paramedic) that saved her. What a great blinding series. Though the whole series you are spinning out of control and than at the end...slammed together! Nancy Straight I will be following you, and recommending you to all!
What a fantastic ending to this series. Destiny's Wrath is much darker than Nancy's first two books, but don't let that scare you off. It is a excellent third book in the series. I love how Lauren and Max grow as individuals and a couple throughout the series. The ending will not disappoint and left me feeling that story was wrapped up. Great job, Nancy! Can't wait to read more from you in the future!
Loved the book series and the fact that the series was completely wrapped up without leaving you guessing about what was next or if the story was done!! Thanks
Destiny's Wrath is the 'ahhh' of a quenched thirst, the icing on the cake, the cherry on top. . . the perfect ending! I instantly started reading the third and final installment in the Destiny trilogy as soon as I finished Destiny's Revenge. I was in dire need to know what would become of Max and Lauren.
There is no doubt that Nancy Straight has the ability to draw in her readers, she had us all hooked from the very start of the first book, Meeting Destiny. And rightly so. Her characters are deep, the plot well-thought out and captivating, all throughout the entire adventure.
Books are usually plagued with the push and pull of the two main characters, you know, the getting together, pushing each other away and such forth. And while they are still interesting, they are becoming a bit predictable. Destiny's Wrath is unique in that sense, never becoming predictable. Max and Lauren did a lot of learning in Destiny's Revenge, I was extremely happy to see their relationship progress in the way that it did. Lauren's commend ability and resolute attitude never wavered, we didn't have to witness any back-tracking as she moved forward in her life. She stayed strong and true to the character that she evolved into in Destiny's Revenge. Max was much the same, as he too stayed true to the character that he evolved into.
In Meeting Destiny we were introduced to the sweetest, make-your-heart-flutter relationship of Lauren and Max. In Destiny's Revenge their jaunt to happiness was put to massive tests as they individually, and as a couple, battled their inner turmoils as well as other aspects. Finally, in Destiny's Wrath we get to see that sweet, make-you-jealous relationship again that makes your toes curl. Max and Lauren evolved into one, making wise decisions and sticking together no matter what. The evolution of their relationship throughout all three books was a complete pleasure to read about!
As Destiny's Revenge set a new tone, so did Destiny's Wrath. There was a darker tone that seeped through, partly because we were privy to Samual's inner workings, and they weren't pleasant. There is also the anticipations of the ending that brings out the darkness. Destiny's Wrath moves at a faster pace, adding a slight desperation to the eminent ending.
Recommended to all lovers of the Paranormal genre. You don't want to miss out on this delightful trilogy!
How on earth do I review this book? Nothing I write will compare to the standard of Nancy's writing and will get the point across of how deeply this book and series have made an impact. Okay, here we go. This review is about this book but obviously as it is the final one, then I will make comments about the series as a whole. The book starts with Max and Lauren actually enjoying a peaceful time of it but then Max opens a newspaper and the ride commences.
In this book you learn a bit more about the Council and the Cabinet and even more about Lauren's role with both of them. You meet some other members of the Cabinet who are nowhere near as 'nice' as Dakota is. Other new characters have a big role in this book as Lauren and Max try to figure out whether Samael is still being hosted by Jimmy or not. Lauren and Max are now closer than they have ever been and are working as a team. This makes it a joy to read as it is what I have hoped for since the first book. Lauren is still very strong in her convictions and doesn't allow Dakota/Doubt much influence over her. Max is strong enough to be a solid partner for Lauren and yes, I am still as much in love with him as I was in the first book as well!
This book is mainly about Samael and how they can sort things out... what are their options? Will an innocent have to be murdered in order to destroy Samael? What about the balance that is needed? Read this book and you will get the answers you need (and I do mean need). Samael really is a nasty piece of work and you will be on tenterhooks throughout the book as his story moves on.
All in all, all the loose ends are tied up. Lauren and Max explain things to each other (and therefore the reader) in a way that it all makes sense. Is it a Happy Ever After? I'm not saying. All I will say is that this was the perfect ending to a fantastic series that I am so glad I have read.
The Desinty Trilogy has drawn to a close with this final installment. Nancy Straight concluded Lauren and Max's life at a good place where I'm okay with letting them go.
Lauren and Max have accomplished a lot in the past three years. They met, Lauren was in and out of a coma, Max went to and returned from war and then they found each other again. Their peace of removing Samuel from Max's body hasn't lasted long when trouble find them. Will they kill him once and for all and complete their soul, or will they have to live more lives to move on to an eternity of happiness?
I really enjoyed this final book. Max and Lauren are finally in a good place when all hell breaks loose. They are trusting in each other and if they can't win, no one can. I loved that Destiny's Wrath was told from multiple points of view. It really gave the reader an inside look into Samuel's mind and the new characters being introduced. I also loved how this book just jumped right into the drama. If I remember correctly, my jaw was permanently dropped for the first five chapters. No time was wasted! Great ride!!
Overall, Destiny's Wrath was by far the best book in the trilogy. It created the perfect ending which allows the reader to let go of two very wonderful characters. I couldn't have hoped for anything better. If you haven't started this trilogy yet, I highly recommend it!
A wonderful ending to a great series! 1st let me say, I read / listened to this book in audio format via audible.com. I always go for the audios when available, as audio books breath life into a story. Audio books offer us accents, multiple voices, excitement & adventure in all the right places & most of all, leaves us hands free, to do other things such as driving, exercising & household chores. Book 3 of this series, Destiny's Wrath. OMG, I read this whole book today in one sitting. It was that good! In book 3, we start right where book 2 left off. Sameal (the beast) is no longer living in Max's body and has moved on to a high school kid. This high school kid Jimmy, is now a serial killer. It is up to Lauren & Max to end this situation & save the day, but can they? We follow along as Lauren plots out how she is going to end this once and for all. You have to read the book to find out the rest! I enjoyed this series so much. I couldn't believe I was at the end of the book. This story was so good, the day just whizzed right by. I loved how Lauren was able to figure out how to bring this to an end. The author, Nancy Straight did an awesome job n the entire series! What an imagination this lady has! I can't wait to see what Nancy is going to write about next!
The beginning of this was so creepy. That kid was so weird and the subtle pushing of Samael...super creepy!!! The icky things in his mind- blech!! But then the end....Weird and good ending. It was a crazy ride but I'm happy with the results. Very creative series, lots of ups and downs, very deviant behavior. I'm kind of stunned by the ending, but not surprised...just stunned that the whirlwind is over. Maybe a little anti climactic.
After thinking about it, I decided to downgrade my stars on the 2nd two books to a 3. The 2nd book was good enought that I wanted to finish the next book, and the 3rd book was good enough that I liked it and enjoyed it, but overall the series didn't make me want to read anything else by the author...just my opinion. I might eventually, but for the most part the stories were just too much going on, not enough direction or clarity from the beginning.
I love how Nancy writes, I love her characters Max and Lauren. I love the tender moments between them, "A soft, "Uhmf," escaped from Max as his eyes went wide for a second from my squeeze. "Okay, supergirl, stop showing off or I'll withhold sexual favors from you." After everything they've been through and are going through they still find time to be together with tender moments. The sex scenes in the book are seriously nice they don't give much away and it's left up to your imagination which I really like. I have to admit out of the series I loved "Destiny's Revenge" more. I loved the happy ending (yes I'm a sucker for them) and it brought tears to my eyes!
When I first started this series I have to admit it was a slow go. It took till the end of Meeting Destiny for me to feel that this was something I could enjoy. Truth be told I almost put the book aside & read something else. I'm so glad that I kept on going!!!! I enjoyed this series very very much. Don't let the covers fool you ( I thought they were very cheesy). The second and third just kept getting better. I'd had them in my library for well over a year before I decided to read them. I found the story to be very unique and the closer I got to finishing the faster I wanted to keep reading. Sooo glad that I gave them a chance. This is a great trilogy!
The whole series was enjoyable... If you are looking for something that you really have to think about when reading it, this book is not for you. This series has a great concept that I have yet to come across. At times it left my brain spinning, while trying to put things together but in all it was a good read.
I really enjoyed reading all 3 books, this was a different genre than what i usually read and i thoroughly loved it. I couldnt seem to put my kindle other than gettin some sleep. Deffinately would recommend to read. :)
I didn't love all the insights into Samael. I would have preferred to spend more time with Max and Lauren. I think it could have resolved better without having had everything spelled out for us about how they had achieved all their pillars.
