About the author

Fujiko F. Fujio (藤子・F・不二雄) was a penname of Japanese significant cartoonist Hiroshi Fujimoto. After leaving his native home for Tokyo, he started his drawing career collaborating with his partner and long-time friend, Abiko Motoo who later held the penname Fujiko Fujio A. Their co-penname was Fujiko Fujio, which became well-known in Japan and in many countries. Fujimoto and his companion became briefly students of the greatest Japanese cartoonist Osamu Tetsuka.

Fujiomoto saparated from his buddy in 1987 due to a cancer, and took the penname 'Fujiko F. Fujio'. He still released his many volumes of 'classic' manga which inspired numerous children and becoming adults all around the world.

He died from the effect of liver failure.

I was cleaning up my room and I found two old Doraemon comic books, which I haven't read yet. I never really got into the "comic book" phase, but I thought I would give this a try. Also, I wasn't that familiar with Doraemon before reading this. It's a simple and entertaining story. Nobita and Doraemon discover a secret door underneath the tatami, which leads to a different planet called Koya-Koya. That planet is in danger of a mining company that wants to destroy Koya-koya in order to get rid of its inhabitants and have unlimited access to its mines. Nobita and Doraemon become the superheroes for the people on Koya-koya because they are stronger than the people who live in a world that has less gravity. There are some funny moments and some of the drawings are really well done.

SUPER NOSTALGIA

Oh wow. I read this as a kid over 30 years ago. I'm so glad that it's gotten a translation so I can read it again in English (my Chinese translated copy is gone, and my Chinese is too rusty now...). The only thing missing is the poem at the very end that just wasn't translated at all, and left out. If I remember it, it was a poem about heartfelt goodbyes and how distance can never take the memories of friendship away.

Totally recommended if you like Doraemon at all. It was delightful to read when I was a child. Now I look forward to sharing it with my own children.

The thing i LOVEE about doraemon movies is that how actually scientifically accurate their intergalactic connections are 😭
Like yes i know it's a kids show/manga, but it stands apart for me a LOTT because there is so much depth into whatever story they spin and not just for the sake of the story.

Doraemon is truly one of a kind. I loved this so much!!

This was probably the best of the long tales series I have read for a long time. The only drawback was the ebgliah translation of this book was pretty bad. They skipped the entire poem in the last 5th panel of the story.

This volume was enjoyable but not my favourite. If I remember correctly, I don't actually have this particular volume but I have read it before probably once, so I don't have that much nostalgia with it. I like the story and the ending was touching enough.

Great book for kid

Doraemon has been growing up with me. Great series for kids. Definitely collecting them all. Thank you for making it available, even the translation isn’t great, but still.
