This is the story of a five-year-old boy with cancer who discovered his life's mission, then accomplished it. Along the way, he taught his dad what it means to really live. As told by his father, this touching story and the lessons of their lives will inspire you to live better, to love more and to find your own mission.
This story is told by the father of a little boy who has cancer. The father is a very good story-teller. The little boy, Cameron, is inspiring. He always wants to fight cancer and even gives himself a superhero name. I read this book in the orthodontist office, waiting for Tanner, in the dentist office, in the dermatologist office, and in the gynecologist office. I kept having to stop reading because it is a tear-jerker, and I was getting too emotional. It's a bitter-sweet story. I thought the title was the father finally saying, "okay, Heavenly Father, you can keep him," but it wasn't. You don't find out until almost the very end where the title came from. I highly recommend this book.
This is the story of Cameron Birch's fight against brain cancer. He lost his fight, but really won the war. Matt tells the story from his point of view as Cameron's father and gave the lessons that Cameron taught him and what they are to all of us. As a mother of a chronically ill child, it was a good reminder of finding hope and positive lessons when faced with the ultimate challenge: the illness and death of your child. I highly recommend everyone read this book, but make sure you have your box of tissues handy.
