Just a beautiful chapbook of poetry. I bought the chapbook at a poetry reading at NKU with Olmsted as the featured poet. Her reading gives these poems a much greater context and indeed make them more powerful. Reading through the book tonight I find that I am thinking about my thirteen year old boy. As a result, I can relate to the pain sewn through the words of some of these poems, but will be unable to grasp their weight entirely. This collection is heartfelt and powerful. Thanks, Jane Olmsted!
One of the best books of poetry I have ever read. Olmsted combines the beauty of nature with the sorrow of death and the process of grief in a way that could crack even the hardest of hearts. Her images both visual and verbal are vivid and evocative of the deepest pondering on the elements of life. I've read it several times in two days. Each time I find a new view of how the world is connected. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys poetry.
