"Completely in Blue" is the true account of author and musician Chris Curry's journey through varying degrees of mental illness and recovery. I'm not usually one for non-fiction, but I found myself as mesmerized by this book as any fictional story, especially because it's all true; unfortunately and amazingly true. It's been a while since I read a book I had difficulty putting down, but there were several nights I didn't want to leave Chris while he was still trapped in that evil "Bubble Room" of the hospital. My heart broke for him during his many troubles and cheered when he triumphed. I highly recommend this book!!

This is a great autobiography. Chris Curry is brutally honest with his self induced addictions, poor choices, and the downward spiral he took with his addictions to drugs and alcohol. It's a great story of one mans journey not only into the manic moments of his life but his experience with the mental health profession. Anyone dealing with addiction or with someone they love/care about dealing with addiction could benefit from his story.

YAYYYY!!!! Another editing project is now a published book! Many congrats, Chris Curry, for your story being told.

No zombies, vampires, cthulus, demons, spirits or apocalyptic events here, but there IS a very true story of survival, and a very big hero.

It's just another tease to get a taste of what I said about this book. Take a look at my blog to see what I had to say about it

Completely in Blue: Dispatches from the Edge of Insanity is one man’s tale of his descent into drug-induced madness and how everything fell apart and kept falling apart for a long time.

A topic like mental illness is very easy to stigmatize, to dramatize and to destroy by trying to lecture the reader about what to avoid, what someone suffering a similar experience should do, or to bog it down so heavily in medical jargon that the layman is left baffled looking at the page. Mental illness is also something that’s easy to demonize and wield like a sledgehammer to scare people.

I had met Chris briefly at shows and benefit concerts held at what would be the final pages of this book. Knowing him now, and having grown up and lived around the same world he travelled through his battle with madness, my familiarity with this story is all too real. Friends and family members have gone down similar paths, been tackled by the same cops, been restrained in the same rooms... not all of them made it through this alive. With or without this full disclosure, Completely In Blue is a touching yet painful account of something that 'makes you stronger'. Highly and wholeheartedly recommended to the sane and insane, musicians and fans, and those who have been close to addiction and mental health issues.
