A laugh out loud romantic comedy, from the author of Unpredictable and Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood. Erin Callighan has given up on the idea of a fairy tale romance. Having dated her own version of the Seven Dwarves (including Grumpy and Sleepy), she's letting go of the idea of Prince Charming and settling for Prince Good Enough. Erin’s focused on reaching her dream of having her own talk radio show, even if it means having to temporarily co-host with the annoying “Voice of Seattle”, Colin Stewart. To score points with her station manager, she agrees to be a part of the Positive Partnerships program that matches her with Diana, a troubled pre-teen who swears she's channeling the spirit of the late Princess Diana. She's supposed to be mentoring Diana, but the channeled princess has a lot to teach Erin about love and happily ever after endings.

Erin's life is a mess ... she hasn't reached her goal of having her own radio show, she's still in sales. She is dating a married man but he is going to leave his wife and kids when the time is right and the list goes on. Let's face facts, she makes bad decisions, she speaks without thinking and she has recently alienated her best friend.

This was a cute book teaming with quirky characters and silly situations. A big scruffy dog named Rooster, a kind-of homeless girl named DIana who believes she is channeling Princess Diana, Colin her co-worker and pretend boyfriend and Jonathon her married love interest.

The police make an appearance after a break-in at Erin's apartment, she slides down the side of a mountain and gets drunk and sleeps with her pretend boyfriend. Oh, and her mom comes for a visit to tell Erin she has left her husband, Erin's dad. Evidently he had an affair 40 years ago!

This was a fun read that ends with Erin learning some much needed lessons from all the crazy, loving people in her life. She begins to like herself and in liking herself she realizes how lucky she is to have each of these people cheering for her.

I really loved his book! What a smart, funny and totally fun read!
This is my first Eileen Cook novel and I'm sure it won't be my last.
Erin works at a radio station, dreaming of the day she'll get her own show. She ends up substituting last minute on a popular men's radio show and ends up having great chemistry with the show's personality, Colin. They decide to make the show He Said, She Said and see where it goes. Erin is less than thrilled but sees this as a good opportunity to further her career. And also along the lines of furthering her career she signs up for Positive Partners, a mentor program that her station manager is wild about and this gets her paired up with Diana. She's a 16 year old girl with a deadbeat mom, no father in the picture and the very strong belief that Princess Diana has come back from the dead to be her secret mentor. That said, Diana doesn't really want anything to do with Erin. However, circumstances continue to pull them together. Diana ends up being very witty and gives quite sage advice despite her age and against her better judgement, Erin ends up enjoying their friendship. No topic is off limits to Diana from Erin's work life, including the made up relationship with Colin for the sake of ratings on their radio show, and Erin's real boyfriend who happens to be a married executive with the parent company for the radio station.
Erin gets herself into some real messes! But I love how Eileen handles them. Erin has to take responsibility for her actions and people in her life like Diana, her best friend and producer Avita and even her own mother help her do just that.
Another thing I loved what how they handled her dating a married guy. He was the quintessential cheating husband too - always promising to leave his wife, just needs to find the right time etc. You wonder how someone as intelligent as Erin could fall for this but Eileen does a great job showing Erin's insecurities and coming to the end of herself when she realizes what a huge mistake she's made. Likewise her friends don't pull any punches with her. Her best friend, who is married I might add, never once lets her forget that Jonathon is married, it's a terrible relationship and she'll never support it. This causes problems between them but I was practically cheering Avita on in the background. Too often infidelity in our culture is explained away but claiming someone's right to be happy. I was glad to see that people in this novel chose to stay true to their morals instead of equivocating. And I was glad to see Erin eventually make the right choices.
And Colin....loved him! He was a great character and ended up having much more depth than I would have ever thought.
This is a wonderfully fun and witty read. Grab it to take on your next vacation for sure!

I hated myself a little more every time I enjoyed this book. Luckily, it wasn't all that often.
The editing was bad, but I tried to be lenient about that because I didn't know if it was initially bad or if it was just in transferring it to a digital copy that the mistakes came about. I don't know why, but somehow that's more acceptable to me.

**Spoiler alert** I do not enjoy reading about cheaters. I think it makes you a horrible terrible person to have an affair with a married person.... regardless of how often you are introspective about it or how much you hate yourself for all the cliches you realize you embody. The only thing worse than a person who cheats with a married person is the married person who cheats.

Do I dislike chicklit now? Or do I just hate the last couple of ones I read? I suppose only time will tell.

Most chicklit books/romances etc focus on the woman who is cheated on. In Do Or Di, Erin is the other woman, and an unlikely one. She's a radio personality and she's dating a married man, who for all intents and purposes is an absolute jerk.

The story is more a tale of how this woman saw the light about the married guy, rather than a romance about how she found Mr. Right. You kinda guess that she's going to end up with Colin, the obnoxious guy from the station, who doesn't end up being that obnoxious. But it is finding out what an absolute pig Jonathon is that makes you keep turning the pages.

It is hard to believe a woman that is as smart as Erin could settle for this guy for any amount of time, because he is the stereotypical married guy on the prowl.

But there is more to the story than just Erin and Jonathon, there's Diana, the teenager who just happens to think that she's channeling Princess Diana, because she was born on the day Diana died.

I absolutely loved Princess Di, so I found this bit of the story such fun, and Diana was a sweet kid, if not a bit misguided. I also loved her dog Rooster. She really made the story, because her wackiness was part of the reason, Erin woke up and smelled the coffee, so to speak. (That along with a bombshell from her mom).

Erin's writing reminded me of Jennifer Crusie, especially her older stuff that was published by Harlequin. The radio station setting reminded me of "Charlie All Night" which is one of my favorite Crusie novels. The chemistry between Erin and Colin is fun too. It isn't overly sexual, but you know that these two like each other deep down.

I'm looking forward to reading more by Eileen in the future!

Erin is working at a radio station, which is her dream job. Sort of. She's wanted to be an on-air personality but instead she's in sales. Still, she knows that one day she's going to get her chance.

And she does! Unfortunately, she's a last second fill-in host on the station's uber-popular (and uber-sexist) show. Her co-host? Colin Stewart, the "Voice of Seattle." And when the show takes off, she finds herself agreeing to pretend to date Colin.

To further complicate things, she's also decided to participate in a mentoring project. Her assignment? A teenage girl who thinks that her other mentor is Princess Diana.

So yeah, things are very complicated in Erin's life. But is that necessarily so bad?

So far, I've read two-thirds of Eileen Cook's genres (YA and chick lit) and I'm pretty sure she can make everything fantastic. (We'll see; the middle grade ones are next!) This book could have been roll-your-eyes obnoxious because we all know what's going to happen, right? Well, not exactly. There are plenty of curve balls I didn't mention in this review. But even if Colin and Erin DO end up together (and I'm not saying they do, mind you), how it happens is most of the fun.

Also, I love Diana (yes, the teen girl's name is Diana) and she's surprisingly astute for someone who is (a) so young and (b) so deluded (or is she?).

As with all of Eileen Cook's books to date, this one is highly recommended. It's only available as an ebook but Amazon sells it for $3. Guaranteed you spend more on lunch, so why not give this a try?

It was a fun read, although the main character has a near-terminal case of "ethically challenged." In fact, she is revoltingly self-centered (and in denial about the obvious) for eighty-five percent of the book. However, the author has a talent for entertaining prose and dialogue that makes it -- almost? -- worth dragging along with the protagonist to see how things will turn out.

But walking even a few yards with a broken ankle, let alone uphill through mud in a rainstorm? I don't think so. Still it was a fun read and I'm grateful for that.

Nice fluffy read! Has lots of plot, and I enjoyed Erin's (the protagonist) progression as a character. This book isn't just a romantic comedy. I liked how the subject of cheating was handled, and although I was surprised by the ending, it left me feeling satisfied. I'd love to check out other works by this author.

3.5 stars - I struggled with the first part of this book because I really didn't like Erin. There were a couple of laugh out loud moments and by the end, Erin had actually learned some lessons and turned into a likable character. Decent, free book!

A Kindle freebie, and one that I enjoyed. A light romantic comedy about a woman who is having trouble getting her life together - stuck in sales when she wants to host her own radio show, and having an affair with a married man who has been "about to leave" his wife for the whole time they have been seeing each other. Then two things happen - she is drafted to fill in as co-host on a radio show, and she agrees to be a mentor to a troubled teen who just happens to believe she is channeling Princess Diana. It takes most of the book, but Erin finally makes some good decisions and the story ends on an upbeat note.

Do or Di, the new, chick-lit, release from Eileen Cook will definitely have you cracking up! I laughed out loud a few times while reading this book, my dogs were looking at me like I was crazy.

I enjoyed the way the storyline panned out, and I have to say, I had NO IDEA what was going to happen in the end. That is what I liked best about this book, it was unpredictable. I find that to be one of the most important things while reading a new book. I don't want to "know" what is going to happen, I want to be surprised, or even taken for a loop, and that is what happened with Do or Di.

Erin Callighan just wanted to meet a GREAT guy, but yet, it just wasn't happening. Then when it finally does, OH BOY.....didn't see that coming. Jonathan, that weasel-jerk.....I DID NOT like him AT ALL!! Any woman who has ever dated a man that was "off-limits" will understand Erin's dilemma and will be hoping that she regains some sort of "sense" before she gets in too deep. This was where Diana came in.

I think my favorite character, aside from Colin, was Diana. She was the young girl that Erin was supposed to be mentoring, but Diana ended up being more of a "mentor" to Erin. I especially loved when she would start in on Erin's choice of clothing...I was cracking up!

Do or Di is more of a Chick-lit, than a romance, but it was enjoyable, and sometimes you just want to read a book that will make you laugh!

I read the book...but I had to make myself finish it. Multiple times I wanted to put it down, hence the 3 stars.

In a nutshell, Erin Callighan has an interesting life. She loves the idea of having her own radio show, and gets the chance to fill in temporarily at the station she works at. She strikes up an odd love/hate relationship with Collin, the guy she is hosting with, and of course they fall for each other in the end.

Outside of the radio show, she's dating a married man, lives alone, has a small passion for cooking and baking, and has a best friend who always tries to hook her up with a non-married man. Although Erin swears she is always hooked up with a guy who reminds her of one of the seven dwarves. After Erin is offered a temporary spot on the show with Collin, she joins a Positive Partnership program in hopes of doing a little ass-kissing for her boss so she can score her own show. During the PP, Erin is assigned to an odd young girl named Dianna who swears she is the reincarnate of Princess Di. She has a not so great life. Has mother who's not involved, no dad...stays out all the time and rarely goes home. But she has her little buddy, her dog Rooster.

In a weird way, Dianna and Erin help each other out. Dianna has a hard life, Erin has a few issues of her own, and they balance each other out through a very odd relationship.

It's a comical and enjoyable read. Definitely chick-lit, but cute. A little slow in the beginning but now bad at all.

Erin has given up on the idea of prince charming, and at the same time given up on true love. She now focuses all of her time and energy of having her own radio show. When she is given an opportunity to do just that, she is met with one little detail, she has to co-host a talk show with the one person she can’t stand, Colin Stewart. Not only that but she has a teen that believes she is the conduct of the spirit for Princess Diana. Can her life be even more complicated? Erin decides to just go with what the station wants, and figures that if this goes off without a hitch, than she will soon have her own talk show. However she doesn’t expect to find a new path that interests her along the way, and who knows she may even find love in the one place she didn’t expect it.

Erin is like every woman who hasn’t found their prince charming and is just settling for mister right now. We have all been in her shoes, and while reading the story you can feel everything Erin is feeling. You will laugh, scream, cry, and experience almost every emotion under the sun. Eileen has the capability of drawing the reader into her story, and taking you on a wild adventure. You get to experience the journey of discovery right along with Erin as she discovers who she really is and what she truly wants in life. Who knows you may discover something about yourself that you never knew as well.

It is hard to admit that I liked Erin after all of the mistakes she made, but at the end of the day she learned from them. Erin thinks she knows exactly what she wants and one of those things is a married man. After everything he does and says, after her co-workers tell her what a mistake it is, she still won't end it. She is stubborn and thinks she knows best. Not only does Jonathon show his truly colors, she loses her job. Which leads me to Colin....a guy who drops so many hints throughout how he feels that she MISSES! She has these preconceptions about him and won't see him for who he really is nor does she listen to her best friend about him either. I wanted to smack her a few times, but at the same time was waiting for her to wake up. Her one redeeming quality was that she did take an interest in Diana even after all of the initial issues with thinking she was crazy. If she would have listened to the girl early on, her life would not have tanked so bad. However, at the end of the day things do turn around for her.

Despite disliking Erin (The protagonist) throughout the book as she keeps making bad decisions, I ended up liking it at the end because of its individuality. This story doesn't end when a knight in shining armor comes to scoop up the princess up in a white horse. The book ends with this quote which I absolutely adored -

There comes a time in a woman’s life when she must admit that the quest for Prince Charming is not going as expected. At that time she has several ways she can respond.
The wise woman realizes that a woman doesn’t need a prince to make her a princess. She had it in her all along.

I first fell in love with Cook's Unpredictable when it came out and although I've read all of her stuff for kids and teens, I've really been craving a grown up book from this author. Well here it is, and boy was it worth the wait. This fun and romantic story is everything I'd been waiting for and more. Cook is a master of physical comedy, providing several laugh-out-loud moments throughout. I'm also a sucker for witty banter between romantic leads (a la Jennifer Crusie) and the smart, hilarious banter between Erin and Colin in DO OR DI is fun and sizzling, making this a must read for anyone who likes Rom Coms with heart. I have one thing to say to this author: MORE PLEASE!

Okay so I just finished reading the book, and although it feels short, I loved the book, I couldn't have thought of any other ending for this book, it was perfect. I know i'm a bit of a sucker for happy endings and mostly I was happy because in the end she did the right thing. Just like what they say, It is never too late to do the right thing, this book conveys a moral lesson about how one should never forget that it is never too late the right thing and that we shouldn't just forget about our problems, we have to take on action in order to fix it. Mind you, forgetting never fixes everything.

This was just a lot of fun. Erin has personal and professional issues--she's in a relationship with a married man, and she's having trouble achieving her goal of having her own radio show. So to impress her boss, she signs up for a mentoring program and is assigned a teenage girl who promptly informs Erin that she's channeling Princess Di and will instead be Erin's mentor.

Hi-jinks ensue, and Erin grows and changes with a few missteps along the way, helped along by a well-developed cast including her radio co-host Colin, her best friend, and her mother.

UGH!!!! So this was suppose to be a romantic comedy. Yeah, not so much. The best part about the whole book was Collin and he was not in it enough in my opinion. I really hate books about affairs. I get what happened, she had no idea the loser was married since HE DIDN'T TELL HER!!! What a freaking loser! I did like the ending except I wish she would have exposed the truth. That would have been kind of awesome. There is some language and some talk of premarital sex but no details.

I don’t know why, but it took me months to finish this book. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this book, but I kept putting it down to read something else. I especially enjoyed the low-key romance and how the story ended, as well the journey of self-discovery our MC went on throughout the story. Still, I kept putting it down to read something else. I finally finished it last night and I can safely say it is a good read. I just can’t explain why it took me months to finish it.
