While born in the United Kingdom, Brennan and her family had roots in India where her mother and grandmother were born. The author of several cookbooks, she lived a colorful life in a number of Asian countries.
Fantastic cookbook. Requires some specialty foods. The chapter on how to make the various spice pastes is worth the price of the book. Finding fresh coriander root was my biggest hurdle. Fortunately, it grows quickly and freezes well. The rest of the recipes readily adapt to store-bought pastes. I plan on reading Brennan's other books, as well. I found her book very thorough, and informative.
