This book takes me back to my childhood! I remember when I used to read it, and I would want to have a sleepover with my best friend as well. This time when I read it, I thought it was funny how Max and Froggy kept going back and forth between their houses.
First of all, the children I nanny adore this series and I suppose their opinion is more valid than mine when it comes to children's books. BUT these books really irk me. Some characters in beloved children's books are mischievous and witty and sometimes exasperating, but still lovable. Froggy and his antics are not adorable, they're simply obnoxious. The writing is mediocre, the illustrations are nothing to get excited about. Do yourself a favor and skip the Froggy books; anything by Kevin Henkes, Beverly Cleary, Ian Falconer, or Roahl Dahl will contain messages and characters who are silly but still smart and much more worth your time.
My girls must have picked up a fondness for 'Froggy' from daycare. They like the story with its simple onomatopoeia. Normally, I'm all for things that make a story fun to tell, but there just isn't much here to hold my interest.

Froggy goes to his first sleepover at Max’s house. He packed his stuff and is super excited. His mom asked Froggy if he has everything and he realizes that he forgot some stuff and had to come back to get it. Once, Froggy is at Max's house, Froggy lays out his sleeping bag and is ready for bed. Max says it's too early to sleep so they play games and eat dinner. Max tells scary stories and they both get scared. They went back to Froggy's house to sleep. They woke up Froggy's mom. She made popcorn and the boys had a pillow fight. Max had a tummy ache, and they went back to his house. They kept going back and forth. Finally, they fall asleep at Froggy's house. This is a cute silly book about two friends and their first sleepover. I think this is a fun book to read at random to the class.
Froggy is having his first sleepover at a friend's house. However, due to him never having a sleepover before, he has to learn about what goes on at a sleepover. After a little while, Froggy and his friend decide to go over to Froggy's house. Not soon after, Froggy and his friend decide to go back to his friend's house.
I thought this book was very funny and very entertaining to read. I believe that it could be used as a book to read at the end of the school day on Friday. You could also use this book to bring up that it is important for your students to be safe over the weekend.
I really enjoyed this light hearted children's book about two friends having a sleepover. I think a lot of children could relate to this book in the sense of being afraid of not sleeping at home. As the book goes on. no matter how much preparation each had for their sleepover, neither felt comfortable enough to sleep at each other's homes. I found myself laughing many times throughout reading the story and I think this would be a great book to read to an elementary school classroom.
I think these kids had it easy. When Froggy cannot sleep at his friend's house, he invited his friend over at his house so that they can have their sleepover there. But then his friend was not comfortable in their house too so they practically went back and forth to their houses.
I did not experience sleepover until I was in high school so I am basically not sure what to think about this one. It was a good listen, though.
Some may call the Froggy books obnoxious or a bad influence on children, but I love them! Children love to read books with onomatopoeia and every book about Froggy has it! When Froggy's mom is constantly yelling, "FROGGYYYYY," that is one of the best parts! This book is so fun to read with children and this sleepover one is especially relatable to many children's first sleepovers.
Froggy's Sleepover is a great book for little kids to read to know that they are never alone in being afraid to stay some where new. The book shows to friends who are afraid to sleep at each others house so they go back and forth until they finally fall asleep. The book also has short easy to read sentences along with an easy plot to follow.
I am not sure my son understands all the struggles within. He was not aware of going back and forth during a sleepover. Yet he was fully aware of not being comfortable and Max's spooky story unsettled him as it would have unsettled Froggy.
On one of my first sleepovers with a friend I got her hairbrush stuck in her long hair and had to have her mom help get it out. I was looking more red in the face.
One of the many froggy books I read. I enjoyed them very much. I used to love frogs in second grade so I obsessed over this book. It takes me back to the old days.
Froggy and his friend Max are having a sleepover but they can't seem to figure out whose house to stay at. Cute froggy fun and very typical of a first sleepover. Preschool and up
Froggy I assume is meant to be endearing, most of the time he comes across as annoying, never morse so in this yarn about a sleepover, with all the same phrases as before.
Froggy and friend want a sleepover but can not make up their minds where, so they go back and forth all night long. I somehow expected more, but good illustrations.
I liked this book for a kindergarten classroom. I think it is fun and lighthearted with some repetition. This could be a book where you stop while reading and ask the students what they think is going to happen. This helps you see if they are paying attention, but also can open the door to talk about "making predictions".
Modern Fantasy Grades K-2 The froggy series is a goofy way for students to learn how to deal with real world problems. In Froggy's sleepover, Froggy gets nervous about being away from home for the first time. These books are great for students to read on their own or to listen to as a read aloud and you will all find yourselves saying, "froggyyyyyyy".
In this story, Froggy is going on his first sleepover to his friend, Max's house. Froggy is anxious to get to bed, but it is too early so Max and him have dinner and then Max tells him a scary story. Froggy decides he want to go home. Once at Froggy's house, they have popcorn and then a pillow fight. Froggy's parents are in bed when Max goes and tells Froggy's mom that he has a tummy ache and wants to go home. Froggy goes with Max to his house. Once there they go back to Froggy's house and then back to Max's and then back to Froggy's---this goes on all night. The two finally fall asleep at Max's house at 9 o'clock in the morning and so Froggy has his first sleepover. It has very colorful pictures and kids love making the different sounds like 'shloop' and 'puff' and so on. It is an AR 2.2 level book.

Froggy's sleepover is about a little frog who is so excited for his first sleepover at his friend, Max's house. Froggy gets all of things together later that day and goes to Max's house. During the sleepover, Max wanted to tell scary stories, but Froggy became afraid and decided they should go back to his house for the sleepover instead. So they went to Froggy's house. Late that night, Max's stomach begins to hurt, so they pack their things and head back to Max's house. Back and Forth the two friends went until they finally got tired and fell asleep at Froggy's House. This story is just a fun story about having sleepovers and what happens at sleepovers. I categorized this book as a fantasy book because frogs do not have sleepovers, use pillows, and live in brick houses. I will explain this to my children first before reading the book to them.
Froggy is excited about his first sleepover at friend Max’s house until bedtime, when shadows and scary sounds make him homesick. Typical Froggy fare, the text includes the expected onomatopoeia (flop flop flop, schloop) and scenes of Mother calling out reminders to the forgetful amphibian. There’s nothing new here, but fans will recognize their own fears in Froggy and Max and will smile at their silliness. Brightly colored illustrations add to the fun. Follow up a read-aloud session with a classroom discussion on facing fears.
