Langman's Medical Embryology

Rate this book
Langman's Medical Embryology covers embryology for medical, nursing, and health professions students with a strong clinical emphasis. The text is highly valued as a teaching and learning resource for its clinical correlation boxes, summaries, problems to solve, illustrations and clinical images, and clear, concise writing style—all of which make the subject matter accessible to students and relevant to instructors. Online material includes Simbryo—an animation program showing processes, organs, and systems developing in human embryos—as well as review questions and full text online. A separate Faculty Image Bank and PowerPoint presentations are also available.

What a terrible book. It is probably the worst piece of medical literature I own. It is not only badly written, but also without any effort to try and make the topics just the least interesting.

Don't ever buy this book! If you study medicine, you can surely find the information elsewhere cheaper and way, way better! I did.

I do still own this book though, with the sole purpose, that it contains a lot of terrifying pictures of disabled fetuses and severely mutated newborns that I can show any couple that still doesn't think it hurts to smoke and drink alcohol during pregnancy. :) An overreaction and oversimplification I know, but hey, it works... ;)

Embryology is a really tough subject to tackle. This book not only succeeds in explaining embryology, but it also provides a very helpful insight about the genetic bases of embryology.
All in all, this book is great. I highly recommend it.

Idk why i read this. But i kinda sorta did. Skimmed through mostly. Bad idea. One of the toughest and densest books ive ever read in my LIFE. Not necessary and will not recommended for new med students. Too dense, too much fluff and most of it is for gynecologists and their understanding.
For embryology, stick to class notes.

concise book and is enough for undergraduate. more emphasis is given on clinical aspects and molecular regulations(which I think is not required at undergraduate level ). the real problem is with its illustrations and without good illustrations the already confusing embryo becomes a headache and you start hating this interesting (which I discovered later) subject. from my personal experience I would recommend animations available on youtube and all this book would take your 2 or 3 days .

I read parts of it that I needed for my embryology exam. Among all the other books I had to choose from, this one was the most helpful and I will definitely use it again for the upcoming exam as it made studying much easier and more interesting with detailed pictures and clinical examples.

This book was a nightmare for me.... I read it my second year of med school, oh my god, it was torture! I hated embryology! The book was too hard for me at that level... I would not recommend this, I suggest something simpler, since Embryology itself is complicated like crazy!

This book was recommended for my first year of grad medicine. I found it really tricky to follow, especially since I have such a limited background in the subject matter. Some of the information was useful, but I understood so little and it was just too overwhelming to use.

Not sure if I'd recommend it to others - I'll have to revisit it once I've learned more of my course.

One of the best textbooks for embryology. Full of images and schematics to help understand embryonic growth from the single cell to birth.

this book is so poorly written, it probably took me more time to research each individual section than it did to actually write it
