Kristine L. Franklin is the author of several novels for young readers, including ECLIPSE, NERD NO MORE, DOVE SONG, and the best-selling LONE WOLF, a SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL Best Book of the Year.
I've had Nerd No More" on my shelves for a while now. I've seen several students pick it up but I don't think anyone has had it long enough to finish.
It's a cute book. It's follows the classic storyline of a nerd trying to reinvent a new identity. In addition, the protagonist is trying to deal with unresolved issues revolving around his father's death. Both bullying and popularity pop up as they regard identity.
"Wiggie" is your average boy struggling with trying to fit in with all his friends as they grow up in elementary school and try to find themselves. His problem is that his mom is the local tv science lady which means he's considered a nerd by association. He tries to create a new identity with terrible results and then only begins to understand that maybe wanting to be someone else isn't all that great of an idea anyways. Filled with good moral stories, yet not sappy, this book should appeal to preteens mostly.
My book is called Nerd no more. The author is Kristine Franklin. The genre is fiction. The setting mostly takes place in a sixth read class room. And some times in Wiggie's town. The main character are Wiggie, his mom Marilyn, Callie, Eddie, Billy, and Mr.Bell. In this book it was based of of a boy named Wiggie. It told about his wiled time in the sixth grade. I rated it a four because it was a great book that had great supersizes and made me want to read the next page.
