This is a wonderful little story about found family and parents. I highly recommend, for all ages. This has truly changed my life. I will never look at a snowman the same again.

A small child named Jacob and his dairy farmer parents create a snow child in a field at the beginning of the book. The snowman awakens to become one of a group of lost and abandoned snow kids. Honestly, how could you not enjoy this straightforward and simple story that your little ones can read to you? A charming book to read aloud to second graders.

This is an adorable story about family. A human family - mother, father, and son Joseph - build a snowboy Jacob's height. After they go indoors all the snow children come out to play. They get into mischief, and when Jacob sees them he joins their play. There's trouble for Jacob and a great solution. Lovely ending; beautiful illustrations.

Snow Children are out playing, throwing snowballs. They are running after each other acting crazy and irritating the birds and teasing a bear. They suddenly come upon a human family that is building a snowperson in the field. They finish the snow person and Jacob’s parents snap his coat up to protect him from the cold. The humans walk back to the house, and the snowperson comes to life, and joins the other snow children. Jacob is in the barn doing chores and looks out the door to see the snow children running by throwing snowballs and carrying on. Jacob goes out to play with the Snow Children, and is soon in the middle of a snowball fight. They are playing very recklessly and soon Jacob notices the snow children have noses and eyes hats and scarfs missing. Jacob takes the time to put all of the missing pieces back on the snow children, and asks if they have someone to take care of them. As soon as they are put back together, they start throwing snowballs at the sleeping bear. The bear comes running out of his den after Jacob. He has to climb up a tree to keep the bear away, and when the bear starts to climb it, Jacob’s dad scares him away. They go back to the house and the next day Jacob comes out and builds two snow parents to take care of the snow children. And they were happy.

Little snow children frolic in the snow without guidance of any adults - which can lead them to do naughty things like throw snowballs and a sleeping bear. Jacob makes another snow child that joins the others and beckons him to come with them on their adventures. Jacob gets into trouble (with the bear) and his own parents come to rescue him. The next day he makes snow parents for all the snow children.

Cute illustrations.

Well First off this is no "Snowmen at night" by the Buehners. What I liked, the artwork. I like the canvas feel. The illustrations are great! The story, I am not sure I love it but it is good! Yay for families! made of snow or otherwise!

I found this book pretty lame, but my students loved it, so I had to give it a full five. I was reading it hoping for a snow day.

I was underwhelmed by the poetry. My 3 yr old son liked the book alot more than I did and asked to have it repeated.

A cute book. My kindergarteners like it, but I can't see children older than 2nd liking it. The illustrations are nice.
