Great for a gentle introduction, or as a refresher. Allen gave clear, practical examples of stress and strain analysis. The chapter on indeterminate structures was clear, and written in a way that makes an otherwise droll and complex topic fairly palatable.

I would recommend to anyone taking an intro to materials science course, or anyone that just wanted a refresh on the subject matter.
