One man, one woman, one psychotic alien. Now the race is on to save humanity. Past. Present. Future.
Mellissa Davis is your average bookstore owner and aspiring romance author until one day an electronic book pad slides through the mail slot of her little bookstore. Now all she has to worry about is a sexy time travelling stealthship captain, staying out of the way of the bad guy and saving the universe, past and present. Not much to ask…
Duvall McCord, an up and coming stealthship captain travels to the past to stop the Ru’Edan leader, Crick Sur Banden, destroying the Earth Empire of the future. His mission? Retrieve the handbook for the Elector. He doesn’t count on love, or saving the woman of his dreams. But time is running out. This warrior must do everything he can to stop the plot…
One average bookstore owner. One sexy Ship's Captain.
What more could you want in a book.
To me this seemed an unlikely romance at first. Melissa seems to be an average bookstore owner with nothing in her life but her romance novel and her bookstore to run. Duvall McCord is the Captain of a stealth ship for the Earth Empire.
They are forced together to help unravel a plot against the Empire. The time travel part took me by surprise (I hadn't really read the blurb) but it melded well with the rest of the story, and watching Melissa adapt to future technology, as well as the fact that she could never go home was very interesting. I did love the fact that her novels would be important in the future and who wouldn't want that??
The chemistry between Duvall and Melissa was undeniable, and the passion hot! They come together in a way that seems natural and actually quite sweet. And the fact that he was so against commitment, but changed his mind (after much inner conflict) for the right woman gives us all hope that we'll find our own sexy captain one day.
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the story and characters were well developed. I loved the characters individual personalities and enjoyed seeing the relationship dynamics grow and evolve. The story was excellent . It had action, suspense, intrigue, emotion, hot chemistry and romance. It carries on well from the first book and contains both new and old characters. I’d highly recommend this book!! I look forward to the next one in this series!!
I enjoyed reading this book 📘, it has a good storyline. There is action, adventure, and the interaction and chemistry between the characters is wonderful. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Fun story but I think it could have developed more. Look forward to reading more in series to see if it does. Great love scenes but I think it would have been cool if something futuristic could have been included.
As a big fan of the sci-fi genre and it's mix of action, suspense, and intriguing views of the future I found myself drawn to this story and the groundwork that was laid for a trilogy set in the future with occasional visits to the past. With its likable characters, action packed scenes, and some super sexy interludes I found a rather enjoyable read that has me intrigued for what comes next.
Mellissa grew up in an orphanage with no family and now runs a bookstore writing a book about other lovers living a life of excitement. Through a sci-fi twist of fate she ends up traveling through space and time with a no-nonsense overachieving Captain. I liked Mellissa and felt sympathy for her as her whole world was turned upside down. She accepted the changes to her life fairly quickly and wasn't one of those annoying heroines who didn't do what she was told in a crisis. She had a backbone but used her smarts more.
Duvall stayed away from long-term relationships wanting to focus on his career. That's why it was so surprising how quickly he fell for Mellissa. The sexual tension between them didn't slowly build, it just suddenly exploded. The sexual interludes between them were hot and frequently occurring, almost too many which I don't say often. I'd like to have seen more character development of them as well as the secondary characters, and most particularly the villain and his motives.
We're told how horrible Crick Sur Banden is but we barely see him and his motives aren't really clear. He uses underlings to enact his plans and therefore he never really seems that dangerous. Not only do we not get a good understanding of the villain, one of the more intriguing couples, Elara and Grayson, have an intriguing backstory merely alluded to but one I wish would've been told in its entirety. The traumas Elara went through and Grayson's acceptance of her physical scars would make an amazing love story that should've been told wholeheartedly.
Between the rollercoaster actions scenes, intriguing views of the future, and likable characters I became immersed in this story and was sad to see it end. There's more characters I long to revisit and look forward to the next story in this proposed series. I do hope that the agenda of the villains is made more clear in the next release as this would add more excitement to the story. Fans of sci-fi romance rejoice that there's a new voice in town and take a chance on this newly released story.
I'd like to start off with some cover love. That is truly a beautiful cover on a really enjoyable read!! Duvall's character is a true depiction of a man married to the military, or in this case to his ship. He is one of those..If I was meant to marry the army would issue me a wife kinda guys. You get the picture, he is literally the job. Even his friends doubt he is totally human. It takes one little human writer from our time to literally knock him of his feet. All of those lovely mantras of love em' and leave 'em, slowly go flying out the door.
Mellissa is a pretty cool chick. By day, she is a mild mannered book store owner. By night she has begun her second career of writing Sci-fi romances. So imagine her surprise when her book literally comes to life. I think she handles it pretty well. She ripped from her time because of a package that was dropped in her store. Duvall had tracked it to her time and location. It doesn't add up at first but Mellissa has an important role in the development of time-travel. She was deliberately targeted and if Duvall hadn't snatched her out of the way, Crick would have had her killed.
This was a great book!! You follow Duvall's learning about love and having an actual relationship with feelings and his search to eradicate Cricks infiltrators. You also follow Mellissa as she starts completely over again in a foreign world where books don't exist. What a horrid twist!! But she is determined to fit in somewhere and to to stay by Duvall. Together, along with three other really close friends, they strive to uncover and destroy the enemies before the enemies destroy them. I can't wait to read the next book! This has the makings of a really good series!!!
If you link romance with action adventure drama and just a straight out good read . Than I highly recommend this book. The plot is well developed and interesting and the characters drew me in right from the beginning to the end. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
