When Bella Foster goes to Dubai to perform as a DJ, she isn't looking for a hookup - it just happens. Playing a song for a stranger, turns into what should be a no strings attached one night stand. But then when she returns to Brooklyn, her friend drags her along to meet her mom - the brilliant, beautiful, sexy scientist Bella slept with. Ava Miller had come to Brooklyn to spend a few days with her daughter, hoping to mend a complicated and strained relationship with her. But when she realises her daughter, Sophie, has brought Bella, the young, hot DJ she had hooked up with in Dubai, to breakfast with her, she almost faints. To make matters worse, Bella is Sophie's roommate, and her best friend, and despite all her justifications, how can Ava make peace with the fact that she slept with her daughter's best friend? Especially when their chemistry continues to sizzle even after the night in Dubai? What should have been a one-time fling quickly proves impossible to ignore, and soon Ava and Bella are fighting tempatations, urges and lust. And as the sneaking around continues, they realize they have something real. But do they love each other enough to face the challenges their relationship faces? A steaming hot, passionate tale of overcoming age-gap, fighting against all odds, and believing in 'opposites attract', while cracking a joke here and there! This is a novel filled with steam, and heat, and reader discretion is advised!
I am your friendly neighborhood Sapphic romance writer, who has a knack for writing steamy romances, that also work as comfort reads. I know, a conundrum! But once you give my books a shot, you'll know what I mean! I live in London, a few streets away from where Sherlock Holmes used to live, so... if I you find me taking too long to publish my next book, I am probably off with Mr. Holmes on an adventure.
DNF - I just could not get into this book. There were some grammatical errors that were irritating AND I did not like the writing style. Other may dig it, but I could not get into it.
This was a sweet and cute story. Good characters and sincere friendships. The basis of the story held well. I did think this was a little lacking in the fornication area but still good. Keep going….
I really enjoyed this book. Forbidden love is another one of my favorite tropes after enemies to lovers. The story is told very well and no insta love. Want something good and entertaining to read? Read this book😁
I absolutely loved this book: the story, how they met, the characters, and the love scenes. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was due to the spelling mistakes- sorry.
Bella is a successful DJ, being invited to provide the music for many top parties in New York and other major cities. Ava is the lead astronomer in a team at NASA searching for planets that may harbour life. They meet and hookup in Dubai where Bella is DJing at a party in the Burj Khalifa. However, neither knows that Bella’s best friend Sophie is also Ava’s daughter… Bella is a great character, a mixture of a very self assured woman, and a vulnerable girl. She really comes across as a hopeless romantic, thinking the best of people. Ava shows a very cold sciencey, nerdy exterior to most people, but to Bella she shows her gentle side. She can’t decide if their relationship should go ahead, and sends mixed messages to Bella, confusing her. When they are together their chemistry is off the charts, but when they are apart Ava throws herself into her work, and that’s when she is most unsure about their relationship. This is a fun, steamy story, with lots of love. It’s a relatively easy read, just one small angsty part. There are a few minor errors in the editing, but nothing that takes away from the story.
After initially struggling to get into this book I ended up reading it in more or less one sitting so I must have enjoyed reading it. The story was ok, if a little implausible, but I must admit whilst I could accept that a Nobel prize winning scientist might fall for a girl 20 years her junior, I did struggle with the way she spoke in general conversation and the voice in her head; I feel that realistically she would have been a little more eloquent. That might sound picky but at times it meant I had to consciously suspend my disbelief. I also had a problem with Bella calling Ava “mommy” - it made my insides curdle!
Also too many typo errors and sometimes speech seemed to have been accredited to the wrong character.
I’ve been looking for a book with the same premise as Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner which is one of my fav sapphic age-gap books so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this!
I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence but there are several elements similar with MWM especially the beginning. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this book as much as I hoped I would have.
The first few chapters were a bit rocky — I almost DNFed but I pushed myself to go through it and it actually became better in the middle. I saw myself unable to put it down by the 40-60-ish mark but then it went downhill again until the end.
I wasn’t 100% into Bella and Ava’s story — sure they had chemistry, but the push and pull felt a bit lacking considering their circumstances. I wasn’t so convinced with their “love” because I think they needed more build up but nevertheless I appreciated the effort to take it slow.
One of the things that I was excited about was how the author would resolve the Sophia situation — but just like in Katrina and Trisha’s story in Your Mom Will Do, the author opted for the easy way out by doing something *drastic* and completely unnecessary, imo, instead of talking it out like adults. It was a missed opportunity imo. I just think Sophia’s reaction was too muted or tame considering she specifically made Ava promise not to date someone her age. (!!! Also Bella and Sophia being 20-yr olds did NOT make sense to the story and to me as well — in my mind they, esp Bella, had to be at least 25)
Also there were a lot of characters which, for me, were completely unnecessary and added nothing substantial to the story, eg Nicole, Lily, and Derek. Like even if they didn’t exist (which I honestly truly hoped they didn’t), the story would have been much better because then the author would have thought of other ways to push the narrative without the easy way out provided by Nicole and Derek.
I appreciated the author’s efforts to temper the smutty scenes without losing the heat. And my favorite were the couch moments and the funny dialogues.
Overall it was an okay read. It lacked a bit of coherence and it needed some editing — but I’m still glad I’ve read it and didn’t DNF.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
1. Even though the editing was abysmal, I only deduced 0.5 pts from the rating for it. I do think investing a day in reviewing it would've removed most errors. 2. Ava and Bella were extremely hot together, well done for the author for creating characters with amazing chemistry. 3. However, the story itself was poorly executed. Too many moments and conversations felt entirely unrealistic. In addition, none of the characters felt well-developed. They weren't boring, though. 4. I liked the BDSM touches and would've liked for it to be explored further. I also didn't mind the Mommy thing, and don't think anyone should. There's no place for kink-shaming here! 5. I didn't like how the characters went back and forth between American English and British English (loo and bathroom, tits and boobs, etc.).
I’ll qualify my three stars, first, by admitting that a mom, Ava, hooking up and cultivating a relationship with her daughter’s, Sophia’s, best friend, Bella, isn’t a scenario I feel casual about.
Goswami presents their attraction and growing feelings for each other in a positive way, and when I absently could experience Ava and Bella’s pairing as simply an age-gap trope, without regard to Sophia, it made for an OK story.
If you have no reservations about moms double-dating with their daughters and their roommates, you’ll likely enjoy this easy-reading book in Goswami’s The Brooklyn Girls series.
Second, the book’s technical miscues — typos, missing or transposed words, and references to the wrong character — cost Fated a full star but that could be remedied by a keen proofreader.
okay oh my fucking god😭😂i could not take this book seriously for most of it, but i loved it for that i really did like the characters and like how the 3 girls got along but also wound each other up sometimes (so accurate) the actual plot, at first i was like ummm no thanks ew but as the book progressed, it didn’t seem like that big of a deal to me (and i mean if i had a chance a middle aged actress or a hot woman double my age, i wouldn’t exactly say no), it is a more a mad romance like wild and powerful and i can’t exactly relate to that but it’s fun reading all the same (the broom closet tho wtaf😭) the twist at the start well well well but that slight twist in one of the last chapters omg i have never sat up in shock so fast and it was 4:30am😭i’m kinda not surprised tho by the epilogue, i mean they’re wlw so it’s only right to end that way😂😭 ps i was not expecting to learn about astrophysics lol
Fated to Love You sets up an interesting dynamic with Bella, her best friend and her best friend’s mother. Unfortunately, some of the scenes are a little truncated, or allowed to fizzle out, making it challenging to fully engage with the developing relationships. Towards the end the story arc wanders into melodrama territory, effectively sidestepping some of the complicated interpersonal issues which are finally coming to the surface. In the end, this is an okay read with some unrealized potential.
One minor note, an additional pass by an editor to check for typos and word errors would not be amiss.
This is my first female romance and it had all of my favourite troupes but it just felt flat. I didn't believe in the romance between Bella and Ava. I just felt it was insta love and then nothing. No angst, no build-up. Considering this was meant to be forbidden, I kept rolling my eyes. I found Bella to be immature which kinda makes sense for her being 20 and Ava was hot and cold. Also, it was difficult at times to follow who was speaking due to the way it was written. I will try another book from this author to see if it was just these characters.
I have read this book countless times. There is just something beautiful about Bella and Ava's story. Their banter, their chemistry, their sexual tension - all of it made for an amazing age-gap romance! World famous DJ and an astrophysicist fall into forbidden love - expect fireworks!! All the supporting characters in the book added some fun and humor as well, making it one of my all-time favorites.
Couldn't finish this book because Bella calling Ava "Mommy" during sex is too disturbing. Does this writer has mom-issues, daughter-issues or something? Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.
I think it's totally possible to have an age-gap relationship without including incestuous thoughts and talk between MCs
A very solid 3 stars, I really enjoyed this Sapphic forbidden romance, absolutely loved the characters, story and inclusivity. Unfortunately however, although the writing was fairly good, there were a few cringe moments, some stilted dialogue, grammatical errors and a few spelling errors as well, which ruined it a little. Still worth reading! And some twists I didn’t see coming!
Do age gap romances in real life exist? One not even 21 yet and the other almost 40. Not my go to book but I had to see how it ended. I did like Bella’s character and the best friends she had and was living with but then when it got closer to the end and there was a chapter from Derek’s POV, it threw me for a loop.
I appreciate the direction of her storyline, but there's room for improvement in her writing skills. There were numerous errors throughout, occasional confusion with characters in different chapters, and repetitive elements. Recognizing her potential, she could benefit from further refinement and practice.
This was honestly a nice plot but it felt very Wattpad-esque. Because it's not, I didn't take the characters or the plot very seriously. I usually like to escape into the relationships between characters in a romance book but this book is just so messy LMAO. I found myself skimming this book quite often.
I’m sorry but I simply don’t understand why this book is so hyped. I found it extremely hard to read. It was written like an 11 year old wrote it in 15 minutes. There was basically no plot. I have never read a sapphic romance and got bored the way I did with this one. I regret purchasing this book and reading it. A waste of space on my bookshelf.
This was really a fun book getting to know the characters. Really enjoyed Watching them grow in their love. I feel like the last part of the book Shut off Too fast. It just jumped to the ending in no time flat without actually going into more detail. But otherwise it's been fun and easy to read in day. I'm hooked!
Minus the mommy talk and overlooking some moments that felt childish or rushed in places, it's a great story, that I could not put down. Read it in two days. Sexy femmes, age gap and lots of sexual tension and intimate scenes.
Very good read! The only thing about the book I didn’t care for was her being called mommy it weirded me out a little but I just tried to over read it. The sex scenes were very hot and vivid and it had a happy ending. Would love a book #2 of them
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the storyline and the style of writing. It was such an easy read and the story was beautiful between all the main characters and their relationships. I loved it from start to end as the relationships and each characters back story developed!
First of all was NOT expecting that scene at the bar in Maryland! Came out of nowhere!!!
But this book was absolutely hilarious, kinky, and downright amazing. I loved it! I laughed out loud so many times! I am such a sucker for forbidden love and the best friend’s mom trope.
Wow, what a stunning story. I loved the main characters' chemistry it was hot their journey through it all was exceptionally written, a must-read congratulations
