Virginia Beckett had always known she’d run the family business. Ivy League degrees and a flawless pedigree prepared her for it. So when businessman Aaron Winston buys a stake in her company and threatens to launch a takeover, she plans to fight him off with every Wall Street lawyer she can buy. Fight his corporate advances, that is. His personal ones, she’s not so sure about.

Aaron Winston plays hardball. How else could an orphan from the Bronx end up with a successful business and boast-worthy bank account? He doesn’t plan on letting one corporate princess’s disdain for his methods get in the way of the deal, no matter how sexy she is. Although he wouldn’t mind removing that silver spoon and putting her luscious mouth to better use.

When a dead body ups the ante in their corporate war, Aaron and Virginia join forces in a trek that leads the unlikely lovers from fast-paced Manhattan to bucolic Connecticut to an isolated island off the coast of Oregon. Through it all, they learn nothing is more deadly than desire.

This was a quick read that had very steamy sex scenes – not all of which were necessary to the storyline – and an element of suspense as well.

Aaron and Virginia were both so involved in their own businesses that other relationships were nonexistent except for Virginia’s with her siblings. When they came together the sparks did fly but initially neither one knew what to do about it. Aaron was used to having women fall at his feet while Virginia had really very little dating experience and it showed throughout.

With initially a two steps forward and 10 steps back approach I didn’t think that they’d ever get past their arguments and confrontations but fortunately they did and it became a nice story with an anticipated happily ever after as well. Until then it was choppy at times and it was often times hard to follow. The storyline didn’t flow as well as it could have and there was the need for better closure at the end.

The descriptions of the house on Long Island and the island off the coast of Oregon were very vivid and I could picture myself being at both locations to really get a feel for the people and the emotions they felt while there. There was sex, romance, love, family, businesses, and some unexpected twists and turns along with an anticipated Happily Ever After. I would try another book by this author and hope that the sex scenes weren’t so front and center next time that they overshadowed the real storyline. I would also like to learn more about the Beckett family in other stories.

This was one of those books that was suddenly on my iBook (don't know if it was a freebie or something I payed for. It was just there)
I have mixed feelings about this book.
I liked the book. Although like is maybe a bigger word then what I felt. It was an okay book. Not something I recommend people who want to read something really good.

It had crime, love and superstition mixed with the billionaire and the charms of the boy from the Bronx turned into a billionaire.
But none of them was at a high level .
Time and time again the author made us aware of just how much money he had and how many houses/properties he owned and so on
I missed something in this story and therefor only 2 stars for the story and one star for the cover

I still love this one. I love the cocky hero and the heroine who hides her passion behind a frost facade. I love how she makes him work for it and even then doesn’t give in.

I even like the mystery. Only complaint is there is no epilogue. I am a huge fan of the epilogue.

I can't decide between 3 or 4 stars. The hero was pretty much a huge jerk at points and I couldn't believe Virginia could just look past his behavior so easily. Especially the shower scene. Plus, the ending was a bit rushed. Overall I did enjoy it though.
