This is a straight-forward birth text, one of my favorites for assignments, but I wish it had more information for midwifery care - it has a very hospital management approach, but still explains things very well and simply.

Also geared more towards hospital births, but it has excellent information, is well laid out, and contains step-by-step instructions for normal and abnormal situations during labor.

this book is a classic, i know.
the illustrations are wonderfific, but...it is so surgically focused to a nauseating degree.

Excellently simple biological understanding of pregnancy and birth. Lots of vocabulary defined, easy to understand if not to read (textbook-like and all), and very neatly laid out.
