A light, fluff romance from Kathy Love. Not much different than her other books, although the humans play a much bigger part in this first book in a new series. Nick Rossi, our hunky detective, meets country-girl-with-big-dreams Annie Lou Riddle while investigating some twenty missing persons, all past employees of Hot! Magazine, and all somehow tied to Finola White. It's definitely a case of wanting the forbidden fruit, and the relationship between Nick and Annie develops nicely, albeit predictably.

What bothered me most of all about this was the misleading blurb on the back of the book. Annie didn't "accidentally" sell her soul; she knew full well what would happen when she signed her 10-year contract with Finola. In fact, the idea of being sent to Hell pretty much consumes Annie's every waking moment, until she meets Nick. Then his sexy body occupies her thoughts, which make it much more difficult for her to concentrate on her job, meaning Hell might be closer than she thinks. Biggest disappoinment was the super-rushed scene where Annie finally tells Nick why she can't just quit her job. Um, hello? It was one of the things I wanted to know, and the author pretty much has Annie say "yeah, I got a call to work at Hot! and I really wanted the job, but it meant I had to sell my soul to get it". Where's the backstory? Why would a girl like Annie go to such lengths to work at the magazine? What about the scene where she first meets Finola or whoever interviewed her and she's all excited about the job - until she reads the fine print? It's such an important plot point, the danger to her soul, and yet we never really see why she was willing to offer it up in the first place. I would have been much more interested - and invested - in Annie if I knew what had really happened. Having Annie tell Nick just did not work for me.

What I did enjoy was that Finola White, a demon who is hellish in every single way, truly embraces her last name and does everything in white: her clothing, her office, her flowers, even the food she offers at an event. Sweet play on our idea of evil and the typical meanings associated with the color white. I also loved the teeny-tiny little twist at the end, one I did not see coming. It had me laughing and saying "Now that was cool!"

Overall, I'd give it a solid three stars. It's not great, but it's not horrible, either. (It could use some editing, though, as I caught the usual typos: incorrect punctuation, wrongs words, etc.)

A light read. Not terribly deep... OK not deep at all. Humorous in an off centered way since selling one's soul and demons plotting to take over the world isn't normally thought of as funny.
Annie was a bit naive. It appears that she did know what she was doing when she signed her soul away. How crazy was that? I suppose perhaps she didn't really believe that she was actually dealing with a demon, but still.
The ending came across as a quick cleanup of the story. Satan did something nice??? Now that's a bit out there.... LOL.
I would recommend if you are looking for a bit of fluff. Nothing wrong with fluff. Not a great work, but far from horrid.

Annie Lou and Nick

Short Summary: Small town girl, Annie Lou Riddle, is offered the job of a lifetime when asked to be the assistant for Finola White owner of HOT! magazine. What Annie doesn’t know is that the job comes with a steep price. Her soul! Nick Rossi is investigating HOT! magazine for the disappearance of 20 girls. All of them disappeared without any word to their family or friends. Finola, the demon and person responsible for the disappearance of the women, has decided she want Nick for her own and has instructed Annie to make it happen.

From the title, the cover and the blurb on the back I thought this book was going to be a fun, humorous yet quirky read. Devilishly Hot with a heart as the “o”? A cute couple smiling and leaning up against each other on the front? And the blurb saying “there is no boss more horrible, or more humorous…”? Yikes, how wrong I was. Devilishly Hot was kind of dark, depressing and not at all funny. I think there were attempts at humor made but they all just fell flat in the context of what was happening with the rest of the story. (Satan speaking)

“I’m already dealing with this lust demon I placed in the government. He’s gone rogue, utterly sex-craze, sleeping with anyone. Fortunately no one is paying too much attention. He is a government official, after all.”

Or

“As soon as Satan looked away, the goblins nearly dropped the mirror in their relief. But they didn’t. Luckily. A broken mirror would not please Satan. Even he was superstitious.”

There were several parts of this book I just didn’t enjoy. The relationship between Nick and Annie did not really work. Annie had a boyfriend she had been dating since high school and had who followed her from small town to big city. Annie fought her attraction to Nick not because of her boyfriend but because of her boss. I am not a big fan of cheating and Annie and Nick stepped too close to that line. In a predictable turn, Annie and Nick walk in on her boyfriend with another woman. It was so clichéd and obvious that I was a little irritated it even played out. Of course, immediately after that incident Annie is ready to give herself to Nick. She wants to feel good again. Meh. And so Nick and Annie develop. But they only develop so far because Annie is still terrified of Finola and the possible loss of her soul.

The storyline lacked overall explanation too. We don’t find out the how or why of the selling your soul business until 230+ pages. The whole time I was curious if it was a trick or if people know going in what they are doing. And what is the reason for the whole soul collecting bit? That we didn’t find out until the very end where Satan swoops in, fixes Annie’s contract thus freeing Annie and Nick to have a relationship, punishes Finola for all her human meddling and swoops back out. The climax was like 3 pages. It happened so fast if I blinked I would have missed it! It almost seemed like the ending was left open to have a second book with Finola in it. She was punished for what she had been doing, yet not punished.

In the end the book was just ok for me. It was a bit disjointed and not what I was expecting going in. I would probably give it a C-.

Favorite quote:

“Don’t say anything,” she whispered, “I want to be with you. I’ve wanted that from the very moment we met. And I’m really hoping you aren’t changing your mind about being with me.”

Annie Lou Riddle had big dreams and when she landed the job at HOT magazine she thought they all came true and if her dreams included selling her soul and working for demons she’d be right. Now after three long years in servitude to her demon boss Finola White she thinks she can manage the remaining seven year sentence and she just might have if she’d never met Detective Nick Rossi.
Nick Rossi is back on the force and now investigating too many strange disappearances from the offices of HOT magazine and when he meets the boss Finola White that uncomfortable pricking on the back of his neck starts again, but meeting Annie seems to make it all worth his while, but she’s skittish and she’s taken.
Annie and Nick are instantly attracted to each other but there are obstacles in their way and some of them are demonic.

It’s rare that a title so perfectly describes what’s between the pages of a novel but this one hits the jackpot because Devilishly Hot this one is in every way and this talented storyteller brings us one devilishly hot romance. Her plot is straight from the brothers Grimm with morals and consequences to boot. Her dialogue is perfect for the contemporary reader with its fast paced, exciting and descriptive narrative. And her characters, oh her characters are real characters some angelic, some straight from Hades and some in between. Her villains are deliciously devilish and will have you cringing and laughing out loud at the same time. Her hero is the all American male, strong, protective and with a heart of gold and her heroine is the small town girl makes big gone bad that never fails to pull the heartstrings of the readers and most importantly of the hero. The romance is soulful, it’s heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time and readers will find themselves constantly on the edge of their seats waiting for the next thing to happen to this couple. The love scenes are also HOT, spicy and descriptive and should come with a doctors warning from the elevated heart rate and pulse that it will cause.

So if you’re looking for something to warm you in the first cold days of autumn, or looking for a devilishly funny read with enough substance to make it go that distance to be so much more than “chick lit” or just another romance novel, if you like your romance with a paranormal/fantasy twist, if you like your romance on the sizzle burner, look no farther than this tale. And if this is your first by Kathy Love it won’t be your last.

Annie is in servitude to the editor of Hot, a fashion magazine, for a ten-year period as her personal assistant. Yep, her boss is a demon and Annie sold her soul in exchange for the experience and high-paying job. What she didn’t understand is that the boss is the ultimate diva who has a habit of lashing out with unreasonable demands and enjoys setting people up to fail. These people then go missing. Annie has seven years left on her contract and is beyond stressed in fear that she won’t make it.

Nick is a NYPD detective looking into the disappearance of twenty-one people who had all worked for the magazine. It’s lust at first sight for both Annie and Nick, but Finola, the diva demon, wants him for herself.

A lot of sexual tension between Annie and Nick, as well as humor provided by the demons. I liked both Nick and Annie and their love for each other feels pretty good, although it does take her a long time to admit to him exactly why she can’t quit her overly-demanding job and why he needs to stay away from Finola.

But signing a contract to knowingly put your soul on the line for a job? Well, I guess that’s part of the humor.

OK I got to admit I so judged this book by the cover to begin with because I just loved it! I loved the drawn in cityline and the girls hair on the cover so I just knew the story had to be a bomb!

For once the story was a riot as well! A nice easy to read contemporary romance with demons. Annie has basically sold her soul for a dream job and has seven long years to work off her contract because Finola her boss does not let emplyees backout of any contract but um if she becomes disatisfied with their performance she casually kills them and demands a replacement like she changes underwear!

Enter hunky detective Nick onto the scene who immediately has eyes for Annie but as luck would have it, Finola has her sights on him! He is investigating the 21 missing emplyees Finola has "gotten rid of".

There is some "heat" in the bedroom scenes but nothing to rock your world with if you know what I mean? Still a light, fun romance.

Paranormal The Devil Wears Prada

If you enjoyed the movie The Devil Wears Prada then you should enjoy this book. It's pretty much that movie with a paranormal twist. I couldn't make it past the 5th chapter and even that was a challenge

This book had a slow start for me but picked up halfway through. I felt despite the slow start it had a bit of a rushed ending. This is the kind of book you read when you are looking for a light but slightly rediculous story.

Devilishly Hot is definitely devilishly fun! Kathy Love gifts readers with a delightful, fun and swoon-worthy tale of love and demons in her latest release, Devilishly Hot.

Imagine the fashion industry run by Demons – not really such a far stretch of the imagination, huh? That is precisely who runs one of the major fashion magazines – Hot! Finola White is a gorgeous, pampered diva like no one you have ever met. What Finola wants, Finola gets – or the person who fails to come through gets their soul whisked away to hell without a second thought.

Unsuspecting Annie Lou Riddle is thrilled when she is called to work her dream position at Hot! Magazine, as a personal assistant to the world famous Finola White. A little thing like signing over her soul for a 10 year gig at a much coveted job seems like nothing – that is until Annie begins work and realizes that Finola is not just a Demon in name but in all aspects of the word. She works Annie to exhaustion with impossible demands without a blink of an eye and Annie has no choice but to do what she is told – or lose her soul to eternal damnation.

It is when Detective Nick Rossi comes on the scene to investigate 21 missing people, from Hot! Magazine, that things really heat up. An instant and nearly combustive chemistry forms between Nick and Annie upon first laying eyes upon one another. He is sexy beyond words, charming with a devil-may-care attitude and oh-so-yummy. Annie is sweet and innocent, stuck in a not-so-great relationship and can’t help but yearn for Nick’s lips to caress her own and bring a bit of happiness back to her life. There is one big problem – Finola has set her sights on Nick and anyone that gets in her way will find themselves on a one way, no return trip to the flaming depths of hell.

Devilishly Hot was such an enjoyable, fun and captivating read. I loved every minute of it. Filled with paranormal, intrigue, surprises and steaminess, this is definitely one book that will whisk the stress of the day away. The characters of Nick and Annie were excellent. I dearly loved them both. The twist that Kathy Love gave to the Devil was tons of fun and I loved the devilishly Demon characters (or loved to hate them, whichever the case may be, ha!). Ms. Love has a great talent for storytelling with a catchy plot, smooth writing style, humor and great character development. Did I mention her ability to bring sizzle and steaminess billowing from the pages? Oh, yes, there are moments of heat that will leave the reader a bit short of breath. All of these wonderful things wrapped up in one not-to-be-missed story. What more could one ask for – and you don’t even have to sell your soul to the Devil!

My review is for 3.5 Stars.

Intrigue, a touch of mystery and a whole lotta demons!

Annie is a southern girl transplanted into the dog-eat-dog world of New York City. She came to New York to make it in the fashion industry. Now is her chance. Too bad she didn’t know going to work for Fiona White was a win/lose proposition. Win the best job at the hottest magazine in the world. Lose your soul!

Nick has a problem. He is trying to prove to his superiors that he is not crazy. Yes, he lost control and said that a murder suspect looked like a monster awhile back, but he was just a bit overworked, or so he thinks. Little did he know that he was not crazy and now he is surrounded by real monsters, demons. He just walked into the biggest nest in New York, Hot! Magazine.

Annie and Nick are attracted at first collision. The problem is they can’t seal the deal. Annie’s boss, Finola wants Nick too, and she always gets what she wants, ALWAYS!

This is a light romantic read. The bedroom scenes are spicy but not scorching. The villains are despicable yet not scary. The romance between Annie and Nick is fun. Their journey to each other is riddled with demonic bosses, uninterested boyfriends and well the possibility of going to hell. It is a rather easy read. It did have some problems for me though.

You would think by the look of the cover that this is a light comedic read. I guess in a way it is, but then it isn’t. This book is an enigma. The cover is very cutesy. The plot had the potential to be a cute fun story, but really wasn’t. I think it tried to be a bit of a dark comedy with over the top characters, but it was quirky. It just didn’t feel right to me, maybe because I did start the book with a preconceived notion from the cover. I don’t think poor Annie looked that chipper, even once in the story. Not to mention Nick was a bit too rough and blue collar to wear a suit. He was a man’s man. YUM! My biggest concern and problem is this is a light romance and Annie and Nick had unprotected sex, every time. I was a bit shocked and disappointed, especially in today’s age. I’ve read erotic romances with safer sex. Okay, I’m stepping off my soapbox now.

Devilishly Hot is a nice change from the standard paranormal romances out there. It is a novel filled with hellish plots, twisty turns, and a dog. This is an original story and pleasantly entertaining. There were a few nice surprises and the characters were rather unique. If you enjoy Ms. Love’s other novels you will likely enjoy Devilishly Hot too.

Devilishly Hot
By: Kathy Love
Copyright: November 2011
Publisher: Brava Paranormal Romance

And you thought your job was hell. . .
Annie Lou Riddle had a plan: Move to New York City. Break into the fashion industry. Work her way to the top. Nowhere in that scenario did she expect to accidentally sell her soul in exchange for a job at Hot! Magazine. Oops.
Demons, it seems, aren't big on letting mortals off the hook. Now Annie is stuck working as assistant/personal slave to Finola White—diva extraordinaire, and glamorous she-devil. Whatever Finola wants, she gets, and she wants Annie to match her up with Nick Rossi, the gorgeous detective investigating shady doings at Hot!
Frankly, Annie sees the appeal. Nick is effortlessly sexy, rugged, charming—and the one man Annie should definitely not be flirting with, or kissing, or. . . Oops. But some loves are too devilishly hot to resist. . .

Finola White, owner and chief editor of HOT! Is a bitch from Hell, LITERALLY! Working with or for her is bad for your health and your soul.
Annie Lou Riddle didn’t know then when she got the call from Hot! Magazine. She’s been hired to be the personal assistant to Finola White herself. Signing a ten year contract, and now three years into it, she is doing her best to keep from forfeiting for any reason at all. Her life is one long headache and nervousness.
Heading out to run errands for Finola one afternoon she literally runs into this major hunk of a guy who she thinks is probably a model or something. Little did she know that this man (Detective Nick Rossi) was going to turn her life on its head and eventually change it in ways she never would have imagined.
Devilishly Hot is a Paranormal Romance with large chunks of humor tossed in for flavoring. I read a short story which featured Finola in a novella recently and was totally blown away by the concept and the writing. Kathy Love has a light touch on the humor and a heavy well written hand on the main story.
I highly recommend this book to lovers of the genre Romance in any of its forms.

Annie Lou Riddle is living in the New York and has just decided to pack it in and go back to Mississippi when she gets a phone call that changes her life: HOT! magazine has just called to offer her her dream job.

Fast forward three years and Annie is miserable; her boss is evil - no really, she's a demon. Annie sold her soul for 10 years of being Finola White's assistant. While the perks are great - fabulous apartment and great clothes, the downside is that if she can't please Finola and breaks her contract, Satan gets her soul.

Detective Nick Rossi is investigating the disappearance of 21 people over a period of a few years. The only thing they all have in common? They all worked at HOT! Magazine. Nick is instantly attracted to Finola's beautiful assistant, but Finola is attracted to Nick. He knows something's not quite right, but can't figure out what it is, and can't get proof the magazine is responsible for the missing people.

Now Annie's fighting her attraction to Nick and working like crazy to get Finola through Fashion Week without losing her soul in the process.

My thoughts:
Devilishly Hot reminded me of a paranormal Devil Wears Prada: Finola and Annie were definitely Miranda and Andy. However, where Andy would've just been fired, Annie would have lost her immortal soul by displeasing her boss.

While Devilishly Hot was cute, it couldn't hold my attention. I couldn't reconcile good, kind Annie selling her soul for a job, no matter how fabulous. I just couldn't make that leap, and it prohibited me from enjoying the story because I kept waiting for an explanation of what could have possibly made her sell her soul, and it never really came.

Nick was a good hero - masculine, possessive, kind and loving. I liked him with Annie and their HEA was a nice note to end on.

While Finola and Satan were a bit caricature-ish, Finola's subordinate demon, Tristian, was a nice touch - I actually liked his character more than Fiona. To be honest, aside from Tristian the demons were a bit silly.

All told, Devilishly Hot was a cute, light read, if a bit silly at times.

Theme:
Evil – goodness; trapped; freedom; power of love;

Characters:
Detective Nick Rossi: always sensed evil… but a year earlier, saw evil – and took some time off work to come to terms… a woman shows up who was reported missing 3 years ago… and she’s still missing mentally – and she worked for HOT, and is one of 20+ people reported missing who once worked for HOT and he is investigating…

Annie Lou Riddle: from Kansas – degree in design – took job at HOT, and signed a 10 year contract – and she works the impossible to keep Finola happy – for 3 years; brought her boyfriend with her – he aspires to be an actor;

Finola White: all white office –all white clothing – but red lips; Satan’s hand to mold the design world into one of corruption she’s getting awfully big for her britches though;

Tristan McIntryre: Finola’s right hand man – though he reports regularly to Satan;

Bobby: not a very good actor – but very good looking; having an affair with another actress on the set – and probably had many before, but hid it from Annie;

There is attraction between Nick and Annie – the first Nick has felt in a long while, and Annie a bit confused because she’s committed to Bobby; Nick is questioning all and sundry about the missing people, but coming up with nothing… and Finola interested in Nick – Nick goes along… funny double date at the bowling alley (Annie and Tristan figure it would turn Finola off) – where she just throws gutter balls, makes a fat woman skinny, a rude waitress with lots of piercings loose her piercings, and the men in the lane next to be quiet…

Bit by bit Annie and Nick get closer – especially after she catches her boyfriend in the arms of the actress – and Annie wants to confide in Nick… and Nick knows she is afraid and hiding something… and when Annie thinks Finola will ‘capture’ him, she tells him the truth… and Finola’s dog/demon reported her to Satan… and Nick makes a deal with Satan to free Annie… ahhh

Annie Lou Riddle left Mississippi and headed to New York with high hopes of breaking into the fashion industry, but even with degrees in fashion design and journalism she wasn’t having any luck. She was packing her bags to head back to the Deep South when she gets a call about a position as assistant to Finola White, owner of Hot! Magazine. Barely able to contain her excitement she accepts the position and agrees to start the next day. While she celebrates with happy dancing she doesn’t have a clue that her new boss is overly demanding, a diva of mammoth proportions and, oh…a demon.

Three years later, Detective Nick Rossi believes something very strange and most likely nefarious is going on at Hot! Magazine. Twenty-one people have been reported missing over the last few years and the one thing they all have in common is they all worked at Hot! Magazine. While on his way to talk to Finola White about these disappearances of her employees he runs into, literally, Annie outside of the elevator. Instant attraction! Hormones in overdrive! Drooling commences! Ok, there wasn’t any drooling, but it was a close thing. Annie is rushing to do Finola’s bidding, so she reluctantly continues on her way while Nick waits to meet with Finola and her right-hand man, Tristan. He reacts to their presence with prickles up and down his neck and spine. Is he sensitive to the paranormal? Or are his cop senses extra acute? We’ll find out as he pursues the investigation.

Nick and Annie have a hard time keeping their hands and lips off each other during Nick’s investigation, but Annie has a boyfriend and she doesn’t believe in cheating. When Annie’s boyfriend doesn’t have the same rule and Annie finds him doing a fellow actress she’s free to jump Nick’s bones. Hot!ness commences!

Nick discovers what’s going on at Hot! Magazine, but that’s not the end of things. I look forward to the next book to see where this story is heading.

Little did Annie realize when she got the offer that her dream job was actually the job from hell - literally - and her boss, Fiola, at Hot! magazine is a demon whose every impossible wish is Annie's command and the price of failure is her soul. Since Fiola's been a little hard on the past help - a string of disappearances lead police detective Nick to investigate Hot! and when he literally bumps into Annie the attraction is instantaneous - and soon the only thing standing between them are: Annie's endangered soul, a slew of missing persons, Annie's live in boyfriend and the fact that Fiola wants Nick for herself and is not one to tolerate anyone thwarting her plans...

Devilishly Hot just never managed to engage me, even when I finally got to the smexy stuff. I liked the intuitive police detective Nick but I never really felt all that sympathetic for Annie, who has a lien on her soul, and the fact that she walks the edge of cheating on her boyfriend didn't help - even though we could see the resolution to that pesky boyfriend problem coming from a mile away. I know the boyfriend was there to slow Nick down, but I really think that the green eyed monster (actually Annie's boss Fiola is a demon and doesn't have green eyes but...) would have been enough.

But in the end it all boiled down to the premise just wasn't that fun, now if it had been Fiola's lust demon right hand man looking for redemption, it would be a different story - a more interesting one... And the ultimate resolution to Nick and Annie's dilemma was deux et machina (from a way further south than heaven.) Though I must admit I got a kick out of the last page, I just don't know whether that was enough to make me pick up the next one.

I have read one other book by Kathy Love before and I found it to be rather enjoyable, from what I remembered, and I thought I'd grab this one because the premise was interesting. This book is supposed to be a Devil Wears Prada except there are actual demons and souls up for grabs. I didn't really like The Devil Wears Prada, I mean I liked the movie, but I couldn't stand the book. I tolerated this a bit better than DWP but not much more. I just didn't really feel for the characters or their predicaments. The romance wasn't all that romantic and the demons were evil, but not too much, not enough to have a sense of fear or apprehension for the characters. This story is an easy and quick read and there were some amusing moments and all together the story wasn't bad, but it wasn't fantastic either. Maybe the shifting from POV's just occurred too often, there were at least 4 different perspectives and really that can throw the story off and slow down the momentum. I don't know I think this book in the hands of someone who loved DWP would really go over well and it does promise a follow-up book. This one just didn't grasp me as much as I would have liked.

Annie Lou Riddle just wanted to move to New York and break into the fashion industry. When she got the job as personal assistant to Finola White, she thought she struck gold – but she ended up selling her soul to the devil. Her latest job for Finola is to hook her up with Nick Rossi, the hot detective that is investigating the magazine for suspicious disappearances of past employees. While Annie knows the consequences that can come with not following her bosses orders, she can’t help but be attracted to Nick. But what will happen if she crosses the she-devil diva herself?

I had a difficult time getting into Devilishly Hot by Kathy Love. It started off strong, but after a few chapters I just lost interest. I didn’t really understand the paranormal twist with the devils and all that. Clearly, that’s the plot, but nothing was really explained about the merging of mortals and devils, so I was confused most of the time along those lines. It got a bit steamy with the romance scenes which I don’t mind at all, but overall it was more of a fizzle for me.

I went into this book thinking it was going to be a contemporary novel and it turns out to be about devils and demons in the mortal world. This is what i get for not reading the summary beforehand.
But, even with my current lack of enthusiasm for the genre, I liked this book.
The fun, quirky detective with a dark past and the quiet, and almost fearful, Editor's assistant make for a very fun match.
Add in a , 21 missing people and a soul contract and you have got the makings of this book.

Really enjoyed this - it is fast paced, with big sexual tension. What makes the book special is that it isn't just about sex. The main characters have an indelible emotional attachment that drives the whole story. What I loved most was that halfway through, I was convinced there was absolutely no way the author solve all their problems and deliver a happy ending. Their love triumphed over impossible odds. Very fun read!

Most of the book was very entertaining, but I was disappointed in how quickly the story shut down at the end. (It was if the author was close to the allotted number of pages and had to abruptly stop writing to make a deadline.) I've always enjoyed other Kathy Love books and was excited to find this one at my local bookstore. Unfortunately, it was not one I wish to read again and I've already given it away.

I enjoyed the first half of this book - but it seemed as I got into the romantic interplay I lost all interest. It was funny and entertaining but romantic was just not what crossed my mind and this was supposed to be a paranormal romance. I had to put it down. If you are looking for a comical and not too original paranormal romance chick lit, go for it.

Outside of my usual genre, this tale is a funny little Devil Wears Prada meets Damn Yankees. It is cute and interesting and will keep you reading. Characters are well thought out, and for me no one really jumped out that I was totally rooting for, the characters hold their own and in my mind I could picture them as individuals.

I usually love Kathy Love's novels, but Devilshly Hot was really lacking. For one thing, Finola wasn't scary/evil - more child like and immature than evil demon. For another, Annie and Nick didn't really "spark" for me. (In other words, I didn't feel as if they had a real attraction to each other.)

This was considerably darker than what I expected from the cover, but not so dark that it was hard to slog through. Lots of angst that dragged through the whole book,, but it fit the theme & plot. A good read.

Just ok

I like Kathy Love's books, but this one just didn't grab me like the others. The heroine just seemed dumber than dirt in respect to her boyfriend. It seemed to drag, then got interesting, then ended.

After 65 pages I am giving this one up. It reminds me too much of The Devil Wears Prada, only with a real devil/demon. This one just wasn't for me.
