Kriyananda (born James Donald Walters; May 19, 1926, Azuga – April 21, 2013, Assisi) was a direct disciple of the yogi Paramahansa Yogananda, and the founder of the Ananda, a worldwide movement of spiritual intentional communities based on Yogananda's World Brotherhood Colonies ideal. Yogananda made Walters a minister for his organization, Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF).
This book will probably go down as one of the greatest spiritual works of the 20th century. An exceptionally elegant and inspired story of how the young man Donald Walters came to the spiritual path and found his guru, the great yogi Paramhansa Yogananda. This book is at least as much about Yogananda as it is an autobiography, and much time is spent recounting personal memories of Yogananda, with whom Kriyananda spent the years 1948-1952 with in Los Angeles.
Swami Kriyananda recently left for his onward journey. He was a great disciple and a great spiritual leader to many. This is an amazing account of a disciple's POV of his Guru's life. Must read.
