170315: if you want an artistically given introduction of Buddhism, of its history, of its various forms, this is a good place to start learning, though because of format of the book, the images are often dense, small, difficult to examine clearly...

An illustrated guide to Buddhist history and practices. Visions is published by Barnes and Noble and so is relatively inexpensive. According to the jacket, the book has more than two-hundred glossy illustrations, which seems believable after reading the thing.

Visions is well-fitted for anyone who wants to learn about the history, evolution, and practices of Buddhism and has no basic knowledge about these facts. The book covers an impressive range of subjects, but the scope is limited and left me wanting more after I had finished it.

The illustrations, prints, and photographs are quite nice and almost make up for the lack of depth.

Worth picking up if one can get it on the cheap.

Although I've just started reading this book, I have skimmed the entire book. It starts with the birth of Buddha and includes key concepts and aspects of Buddhism. Early days of Buddha, Enlightenment, From Enlitenment to Death. It then has a chapter for Buddhism in India, China, Japan, Tibet and how it came to the West. The book has smooth pages with lots of illustrations, art work and artifacts. If your interested in Buddhism this is a great book to read and learn from.

A nice way to look at Buddha. A little history a little philosophy, a little Buddhism, a little politics with some nice photos

Not a bad little overview of Buddhism. Too simplistic for my taste, but I picked this up for my daughter, and it's just right for teenagers learning about/interested in this way of life.
