A Vampire's Deadly Delight

Rate this book
She’s a quiet, unassuming bookstore owner by day, but by night...

Kristen has a deadly secret—when she smells a vampire, she turns into Jai, a beauti-licious babe who makes vamps permanently dead. To a vamp, Jai is like ambrosia. They can’t resist her. She uses this attraction, plus her super strength and her trusty blade, Mr. Sticky, to end their undead lives. The thrill of wearing miniskirts without worrying about cellulite stifles any qualms Kristen might have about killing the undead. Being Jai is the most fun she has ever had—until they come up against the one vampire Jai can’t kill. If he and Jai have a history, as he claims, Jai can’t remember it...or him.

But when her work catches the attention of some old enemies—who won’t hesitate to destroy Kristen if it also means the end of Jai—this vampire may be their only hope. Can Kristen and Jai learn to tell the difference between good and evil in time to defeat Jai’s ancient nemesis? Or will being Jai’s hostess cost Kristen more than just a little sleep?

Unable to resist her, vampires die at the hand of the beautiful Jai. Once the vamps turn to dust, Jai turns into quiet, book store owner Kristen. Trapped in the body of hostess Kristen, Jai only gets to come out and play periodically. Triggered by the scent of vamps, with trusty weapon Mr Sticky; she's dressed to kill.

Kristen's life, work and love life have been thrown into complete chaos since Jai came along. With best friend Robbie and her pet spider Herbert, she tries to balance everything. After waking up in a strange place, bad things start happening to both Jai and Kristen. Someone is out to get them both!

This was an extremely unique read. I don't think I've ever read a vampire novel, where the main character is actually two personalities in one body. Kristen and Jai are complete opposites - one is quiet and bookish while the other is outrageous and kills vamps for the thrill of it. In the past, I have found switching between characters can be confusing and frustrating - but this was extremely well done and I didn't find it detracted from the story.

The concept for the book was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the story. I don't want to give away too much to the plot, as it does have some interesting twists and bumps along the road. If you're looking for something unique, fun and sexy - this is definitely something you'll want to read.

A Vampire’s Deadly Delight is a very entertaining paranormal romance. I received a complimentary review copy for my nook and was very pleased with it. The main character Kristen owns a bookstore, is destined to be forever single and has some very interesting “friends”. I loved the fact that Ms. Rancourt filled the book with references to some of the greatest leading men in literary history all of which Kristen considers as her “ex” boyfriends. As a lover of anything and everything vampire, I also loved all the references to the literary vampires. This story centers around Kristen and Jai who is a vampire hunter who shares Kristen’s physical body. When ever Kristen smells vampire, Jai appears in order to kill the bad vampire, but what if the vampire is not bad? That is the big question. Kristen loves the excitement Jai brings but does she want to keep doing this forever. Throw in a possible new love interest for Kristen and a very old love interest for Jai and you get a great story! Loved the book!!! Great read for everybody vampire fan or not!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It was funny, vampy, cute, short, sweet and enjoyable. If you love vampire books with a bit of humor, then pick up this book!

The story follows Kristen - a dowdy bookstore owner whose flashy alter ego is Jai - a vampire slaying machine. Whenever Kristen smells a hint of vampire, she transforms into Jai, whose mission is to kill vampires. As Jai's memories return, she begins to question if all vampires should be killed. This sets up a battle for Jai with Kristen's life hanging in the balance. Who will win? Will it be Herbert (Jai's keeper), Shakespeare (Jai's love), or the Vampire Queen?

This was an easy read that flowed well. I had a hard time putting it down. It's a standalone story but I feel that it could have been left open for a sequel & I sure hope that is the case!

Liv Rancourt's A Vampire's Deadly Delight is a fun, sexy and smart read. Average bookstore owner, Kristen, shares her body with outgoing, sexy vampire killer, Jai. The two couldn't be more opposite, which provides us with many humorous and entertaining scenes.

A pet spider who talks, a weapon named Mr. Sticky, a best friend who learns Kristen's secret, and plenty of vampires, some good, some bad, round out the diverse cast of characters that take us on a journey of twists and turns.

Liv's sense of humor shines through her characters and it was a story I enjoyed and highly recommend.

Fun, fun, fun. Seriously, how can you go wrong with a everyday woman who owns a book shop who has a huge talking spider and transforms into a hot vampire killing machine when she runs into a vampire? I found this to be a very enjoyable read. It had vampires, action, humor, suspense, and a very unique premise. I really enjoyed Kristen and she struggled with who she was and what she was going to do with her life, her interpersonal relationships, the vampires, and with Jai. I definitely plan to read more from this author.

What a fun read! I found it easy to follow when the POV switched between Kristen and Jai. They remained in first person POV and the other characters were in third person, so it kept the emotional tension tight with the female protagonists while we got side-stories from the other characters. Now I wanna eat a Dick's burger. *sigh*

A fun, warped paranormal romance. 4stars

Very enjoyable read; nothing too heavy or full of itself. I particularly enjoyed the warped sense of humor and wished it had stayed the focus of the story instead of ending with more romance/heat, but guess that is just me. Lots of fun!
