'Something Rotten' is a look at 14 major banking scandals in Ireland in the last 30 years. Ireland has developed and tolerated a culture of lax practice and weak regulation in its financial services sector. It took the sensational revelations at various tribunals to uncover some of them.
This is not a great book, but it was full of information that was new to me. The Republic's punitive stance toward bank managements since the Global Financial Crisis now seems more justified than I had thought.
Also, the tiny sums involved in the Eire predating the Celtic Tiger are truly eye-opening.
