Waiting for Wilson

Rate this book
Madison Monroe finds herself utterly distraught when her fiancé, Chaplain Wilson Jameson, must leave for Afghanistan to serve in a war she doesn’t understand. Knowing he’ll return in six months for their wedding provides little comfort. The excitement of planning their wedding, decorating the farmhouse she recently inherited from her maternal grandmother, and caring for her beloved horse, Rebel, should keep her busy and occupy her mind until November. Still, she panics. How will she survive until then? What if something happens to Wilson like the car accident which stole her father’s life?

Enter Mrs. Finnegan, a well-meaning church lady mentor who plans to help Maddie navigate rough waters. Between cooking lessons from Mrs. Finnegan, planning her wedding, redecorating, and reading old love letters Maddie finds—written between her grandparents during World War II—will Maddie’s heart learn some things become better under pressure in the hands of a loving God?

This book really touched me. It's the story of Maddie and Wilson. Wilson is a chaplain in the Army is and being deployed to Afghanistan. While he is gone, Maddie is supposed to plan their wedding. She is just a bit overwhelmed. Enters Mrs. Finnegan. She is a lifesaver. But more than a story of wedding planning, this story is how God can take care of all of our needs if we open ourselves to Him. Not only will he take care of the big things, but all the small mundane things too. Mrs. Finnegan was an angel in disguise and she really did her job. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was so good. And, it's not one of the authors normal stories. I think that even made it better. I highly recommend this book. I did receive an ARC, but this review is my own opinion. Get it and read it! You won't regret it!

There is something strange about this book, it will not let you put it down. The story is sweet, not exciting and I’ll admit at times I thought when is something going to happen. But you just can’t stop reading. I’m going to suggest that Madison has the patience of a saint. With all the delays in becoming engaged and then married (years!!!) you start to wonder about Wilson’s commitment to her. Perhaps the title should have been Waiting and Waiting and Waiting for Wilson. Lisa M. Prysock kept drawing me in. I’ll admit I really thought she would/should find someone else. After finishing and thinking about it, I realized I really liked the book and story. There were some lessons for all of us taught along the way

What an interesting way to tell a romance story!
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

We see the main characters, and their romance, mature through memories. It's not how most romance stories are written, but it is how you'd learn about a friend's past. That's what this felt like. It felt very organic and natural.

Maddie has her "woe is me" moments, but mostly remembers to turn to prayer and to trust God. She has family, friends, and lots of stuff to keep her occupied most of the time, too.

We see very little from Wilson's side, but what we do is full of action and emotion... and faith.

I really enjoyed this story!

Maddie has waited for Wilson a very long time. Just when things come together finally for them after a few skips and resets, Wilson is deployed to Afghanistan. This time the waiting is incredibly hard on Maddie.
Mrs. Finnegan, a member of their church becomes a Godsend to her with her knowledge and friendship.
This book is a loving tribute to Maddie's Grandparents as well as to Maddie and Wilson's Faith. Maddie leans on her faith hard while waiting for Wilson to come back to her. She relies on her friendships and family, both hers and Wilson's to get her through, while keeping herself busy. This book is so poignant it brought me to tears so many times. It is a must read.

Having read this author previously, to say I was excited to read her latest work would be an understatement! I have come to realize there is always the unexpected element of surprise, which further intrigues and captivates the reader, a wonderful deviation from “the norm”, only adding to the already enchanting plot. You will want to set aside an afternoon to dedicate to this inspirational story as your spirit is encouraged along with the characters as each one’s faith is tested yet renewed by the faithfulness of God.

Lisa has done it again. Written another 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ book. Absolutely loved it.

Madison is faced with a lot of life's everyday challenges. She must rely on God, family and friends as well as the community to help her get through them.
When life seems to hard, remember you don't need to do it all yourself. Let others help. So much to say but I don't want to spoil it. Take my word for and pre-order your copy today, you won't be disappointed.

I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review.

A fantastic book that captures the heart and leaves the reader pondering on the story and it's lesson. Great characters that are so loveable. A wonderful insight into why God calls us to worship and come together as a church body is woven through the story. A beautiful story that is written about faith, prayer, and sacrifice which makes this a book you can't put down.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed Maddie and Wilson's story!! Both characters had some growing up to do, but they managed to do it, and learn quite a bit in the process! God is never finished with us, we all keep growing and learning until we go to be with Him! You'll enjoy this book!

Oh, what a beautiful picture of I Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind”-this wonderfully woven story of Madison Monroe and Wilson Jameson…Their story began when they were children, actually, but by the time the teens were dating, it was always Madison and Wilson, and Madison already knew in her heart that God had made them for each other. Of course, like any couple, there were a couple of times that they broke up, but only for a short time, and all roads led them back to each other. They finished high school, finished college, then Wilson had to finish some things the Lord spoke to him about and, of course, Madison agreed. This book is the story, I think, of Madison, learning patience, but it’s all about what she does in her church, community, and to the home she inherited, called Glory Bend, that made the book so exciting and so interesting. The characters in the book are really characters! Lol 😂 Lisa painted them so well, through her skillful writing, that I could see each face and body and I even imagined their voices! I loved all of this book so much and I know you will, too! I hope you purchase a copy of this delightful novel and read it for yourself and then you will understand exactly what I’m talking about! 🤗🤗. I received an advanced reader copy, but this review is my own! 🙏♥️💖💙

4 star modern day romance, military story

This story carries you through a six month period of a young man serving as a Chaplin in the military overseas in Afghanistan, while his soon to be wife is home refurbishing her grandparents house. All the while both relying upon their faith, and prayers and letters to each other to help make it through. Toward the end of deployment you as the reader will get so caught up that you wil find yourself wanting to pray along with the characters forgetting they are characters in a book, not reading a newspaper article or something “real”. As in all Ms Prysocks stories you step in them and it’s reality and your faith is restored by the faith of the characters. We’ll done

I really enjoyed Maddie and Wilson's story! Both characters had some growing to do, and they did it in spades! Maddie and Wilson have been in love with each other for years, though Wilson kept putting off their wedding, coming up with things they needed to do first. When it seems as if the wedding may not happen at all, Wilson realizes he was putting the marriage off for all of the wrong reasons. Maddie realized she needed to depend on God's leading more, and not what she wanted and could control. A really nice read!!
