Written by an American with Christian roots, Thomas Ashley-Farrand (Namadeva) describes his experiences with remarkable people. He questions the cultural conditioning which creates our materialist notions of power (personal, church, corporate, government, media, criminal,) as his experiences change him from a Westerner to a priest in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. A brief but very useful section on specific mantras for healing, overcoming obstacles and prosperity is included. His stories ""demonstrate that positive spiritual forces are actually working secretly and silently all over the world-- It's funny and fascinating, as well as occasionally profound. I couldn't put it down."" Doe Lang, Ph.D., author of The New Secrets of Charisma. ""Reminding one of Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi, in that the wonder and vision of a more beautiful and serving world is possible, the book inspires and educates the reader."" Dr. Robert Bonnell, Member, National Board of Directors, The Theosophical Society.
The works of Thomas Ashley-Farrand give unprecedented, detailed instruction in how to empower yourself using the techniques of the ancient sages and rishis. After many years of teaching and sharing, he has been persuaded by his friends to publish the techniques of mantra sadhana in which he was initiated over the course of decades by Eastern masters. Additionally, as we enter the new millenium, he has decided to share some of the moving experiences that he has had with spiritually advanced beings, as well as the lessons that he learned from each encounter.
Mostly this book seemed full of waffle and the writers own self importance about all the gifted people he had met. He seems obsessed with getting healing off others which begs the question if you are on a spiritual path shouldn't you be working on healing yourself. Shame, as I enjoyed his other books on mantras.
Riveting and interesting personal story of a man's spiritual adventures with gurus and spiritual teachers of varied backgrounds. I highly recommend this book for an interesting read. You won't put it down.
