Well I started this series in 1999 and I really was enjoying it. This book took me forever to read. I am not sure what it was. I just didn't really get into it much. I guess I didn't think the story line was very real to me. The characters didn't draw me in either. I did like the history in it.
This is my first time reading Author Gilbert Morris. The Jeweled Spur is a sweet story in interesting backgrounds, with historically based characters. Laurie and Cody are talented and have many hurdles to cross in trials, while traveling across a variety of plains as they participate in a traveling show.
A young girl who grew up following her father as he traveled the lands of the Indians, then on an army post ends up part of Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. How she gets there, what happens there is a fascinating story.
If you don't read any of these books in this series,at least do yourself a favor and at least read the first book, you will be Hooked as I have become. It's got the history of this wonderful country, stories of just some helped get us started, and last but not least,God. thing without him. The stories has history,l love and love for the Lord and it makes you think about how God works in your own life. Wonderful writer and so well written!!
Yet another Winslow was running from the law. This time for something he didn't do. Of course it was from a fight over a girl. *tsk tsk* It seems that all the Winslows have to learn things the hard way.
The first part of the book is better than the latter part in my opinion. It was more interesting.

This series by Gilbert Morris is one of my absolute favorites. Each book follows at least one member of a generation in the Winslow family tree and the member(s) gets saved and finds true love. There's also some commentary on the social conditions of the time frame. Truly interesting.
