Always a fan of romantic fiction, I've always been in love with the alpha-male. So in love, I've never been quite satisfied with the restrictions of series romance. I like to get into a guy's mind and have him do or say exactly what he's feeling at the moment, and sometimes I shock even myself! I consider my stories soft erotica; one man, one woman, heterosexual. But since abiding love is always the happy ending I'm looking for, my couples are always monogamous. My guy would never share his woman with anyone, and she is always enough to satisfy him. Since I believe that love starts with lust, my stories are always highly sexual, explicit in nature, and hopefully totally satisfying to my readers. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

I don’t mean to sound like a broken record repeating the thing I’ve already said many times before, but I couldn’t help it! I freaking love Lynda Chance's alpha heroes! They’re all amazing, and David Bennett is no exception. The way he’s extremely dominant and confident, yet so tender and sweet, really had the hopeless romantic inside of me swooning. Well, I just couldn't resist this brooding man with a possessive streak!

Alright, let’s go back to the story. The plot was so simple and predictable—a marriage of convenience. There was not much happening in this novella and the story mostly revolved around sex, but don’t get me wrong, I literally enjoyed it. The sex was good, oh no, actually, it was hot as hell, utterly explosive! So how could I even complain?

All in all, this was an enjoyable read, another winner from my favorite author. If you’re looking for some OTT alpha hero stories with insta-lust/love happening, then this one is for you!

I was looking for a short, steamy read in between books. Did I find it?

David needs a wife. He believes he is going to be passed over on the promotion that he deserves because he isn't settled down.

Jenna has been working in the accounting department of David's company for six months. Strangely, she finds him staring at her once in awhile. When he approaches her about getting married, just briefly to make it look like he has finally settled down, she is completely baffled. They don't even know each other.

He invites her to dinner so she accepts, figuring it is a way to tell him no. Unfortunately, the dinner is at his house. He is very convicing and she asks him for a kiss which he turns into

David is uber bossy and dominant. Just what I needed.

A smut novella but written by Lynda Chance?

I mean, you know what you’re in for:

A deranged alpha possessive male.
A sweet female but make it clever.
Some (a lot) spice.

It was perfection.

Holy heck, this was bad. I normally read Lynda Chance between (or even during) other book readings, as they’re quick, hot, alpha-male-type reads that I enjoy. This one did not hit any of Chance’s strong points, and was a huge miss for me.

To say that the dub con here killed it for me would be a huge understatement. This is dub con gone wild, even for Chance who usually skims along the edge of dub con, this is just beyond the pale of what I can tolerate. This was in no way an easy romantic read for me. Our poor h here is vastly overpowered by the H. He completely steamrolls her, does not take into consideration her feelings at all, and just plows on through their sexy times (pun intended - ha). It was uncomfortable for me to read.

Fortunately for all the unsexy times, this is a very quick read (even on the scale of Chance’s shorter story style bar), and it’s all over fairly shortly. I read this entire book in about ninety minutes or so. I was glad it was speedy, and that our heroine’s ordeal was over soon enough.

None of this was romantic to me. I didn’t believe our H’s declaration for our h at all, and found nothing to recommend this one to anyone out there.

A sure miss from Chance for this one. Go pick up her “Marco’s Redemption” instead. That’s a much better representation of her quick, easy, alpha reads. You can read my review for that book here 👉 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

One save yourself from this horror star. Do not recommend for anyone.

I freaking loved it. LOOOOOOOOVED IT!!!

I read it twice because it was that good. My first read from this author and deffo not last.

I loved the story, I loved the characters and the steam. The writing style was so delicious, I honestly wanted this story to go on.

This baby lands on my 'favourite' shelf. Will reread it again soon.

Very short and unrealistic story ( Like Alexa Reily). Uber Alpha male with a poor heroine and you know the result. The excerpt will look like he was forcing her but it was not all true.
Safety Issue: It was safe. The heroine was non-virgin and quite experienced. No cheating.

BRIEF SUMMARY
David runs his family company; however, he needs a wife to impress the board of directors when his uncle steps down. The perfect candidate, Jenna. Jenna works in accounting and is up to her neck in debts. She is approached and offered a business arrangement that includes marriage for two years to David.

THOUGHTS
Another great read for me by the author. I have read all of Lynda Chance’s books so far, and you either like her style or you don’t. Nevertheless, there are many styles similar, but I think for the readers that loves her work, it’s her infamous formula of chisel, sexy, controlling, and irritated alpha male, along with sweet, shy girl that pulls the reader in. Once again, it came through this book and entertained me.

This cover may look innocent, but don't judge a book by its cover. We have two interesting characters that needs different things that the other can offer. In the beginning, the story gave us a bit of each character. However, their first interaction definitely gave you a bit of excitement of what is to come throughout the story. Physically, they were explosive; this is where a bit of David’s controlling side comes out. With their back and forth dilemma of the arrange marriage, once the deed was done, also adds to the appeal of the read. I feel this book by the author was definitely more erotica than her other books.

Story: FAIR
Intimacy: VERY GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD

MML is archetype possessive alpha male and our MFL is quintessential example of sweet lamb who’s afraid of big bad daddy wolf.

“She sat as still and silent as a woodland creature trying to remain camouflaged from a predator.”
Jenna when David offered her “wifey” job lmao 😭

Another fun read by Lynda Chance!

This would have been a 5-star read for me had it been a longer story. With it only being 78 pages long, it doesn’t give the author enough time to let the characters go thru the full cycle of emotions involved in a marriage of convenience and of course it ends up feeling unbelievable to all wrap up nicely (for the most part) over a single weekend.

This is a first for me, but I will mention a Safety Warning: this hero might come across to you as a bit rape-y. For me it was total old school of “Don’t!”…. “Stop!”…. “Don’t stop!”

As is classical Lynda Chance’s style, our hero was an OTT j/p bulldozer that knows what he wants businessman. And what he wanted was the cute girl in accounting for the last 6 months. What he didn’t want was anything getting in the way of this. The boy needed to slow down though and listen to the heroine, woo her a bit, etc (not steamroll right over her). He was too much sometimes and this came across as not sexy at all.

The heroine was scared, constantly stuttering in nervousness, right up until the last page once I Love You’s were exchanged. Had the story been longer, we would have been able to better see the heroine go from being scared, to falling in love gradually, etc. We completely miss that here.

I can’t really tell you more of the story, as it’s only 78 pages long. But it’s cute enough to read once, but could have been a keeper if it was developed more.

This book is AMAZING!!! I read it back in 2012 and have read it six or seven times since then. I love the whole concept of a successful, accomplished, drop dead gorgeous business man propositioning a naïve, innocent and uncertain young woman with the idea of marriage. Well, I say that David propositions her, he doesn't give her much choice in the matter (LOVE the whole Alpha male thing)
He's noticed her at work for a while and can no longer deny the fact that he wants her. He HAS to have her and he's the type of man who gets exactly what he wants. One day Jenna makes a harmless joke about marriage to one of David's friends & work colleagues (Jenna doesn't know that David can hear her) and his mind is made up. He basically comes up with some ridiculous reason for Jenna to be his wife and makes the offer far too tempting for her to turn down.
Jenna is attracted to David too and that's what makes her decision so agonising, she's a woman with principles and a good heart and knows that marriage for any reason other than love is wrong. There is soooo much chemistry between them, David's possessiveness and infatuation with her is what makes it such a hot read. Jenna tries to resist his advances at first and even tries to change David's mind about the whole marriage proposition. Of course he won't have any of it and insists that Jenna sticks to her side of the deal. He wants her to be his wife and won't rest until he puts that ring on her finger.
Everything about this novella is perfect. It's a classic story and one I love dearly. All I ask is... a sequel!!!! Pleaseeeeeee??? It would be wonderful to see how David & Jenna are adjusting to married life and I would so love to see more of David's jealous, domineering side, especially now that he's a husband. They make an amazing couple and I like Jenna's character very much. It's not difficult to empathise with her and her current state. She needs protecting and David is the ideal man for the job (he does need to tone it down a bit but of course I don't really want that!)
I don't know if the author intends to write a sequel but I would truly love it if she did. I want more! I need to find out what happens once they are married and how their married life is going.
5 STARS!!!

His Indecent Proposal by Lynda Chance is a Harlequin Presents type romance where the hero is this uber-alpha male who wants his way and won't take no for an answer. The set up is somewhat ridiculous where David needs to marry quickly so he can keep control of company he's already running. He finds the wife he needs in the accounting department where Jenna works. Jenna is barely making ends meet because she has $100,000 in college loans to pay off, but she makes everyone believe she never went to college because she needed the job and is overqualified. If Jenna agrees to marry him, he'll give her $100,000, which will solve her money issues. Jenna thinks they'll only be married for a short time, but then David gets a taste of Jenny's luscious body and he decides divorce is no longer an option.

His Indecent Proposal could have been so much better if it was longer. It's only 21,000 words, and even though the chemistry between David and Jenna is great and the love scenes excellent (even with the annoying head jumping back and forth between the two main characters) things come to a close too quickly and everything is resolved in a very unrealistic manner. I felt unsatisfied because the ending is so sudden and swift.

Oh hell yes!

This was absolutely perfect and has everything that, in my opinion, an erotic novella should. First and foremost, good writing; followed by a hot, possessive, dominating and stalker-ish hero; a strong but normal heroine; some sort of coercion (one of my fav themes!); lava hot love scenes; then finally true love and happily ever after *sigh*.

As you can tell, I really loved this. David can whisk me off and coerce me into anything he likes!!

I really liked Jenna too. She was sensible, sweet and down to earth, but fully admitted to herself how much she wanted David and went for it despite her reservations about the relationship. I braced myself for a some sort of silly reason as to why she wouldn't stay with him and I was absolutely delighted when it did not happen!

This was very refreshing to me because I have read countless novellas where the heroines cite loss-of-independence as their reason to back away from the incredibly hot and manly hero. WHERE ARE these totally insane women and are there doctors on hand to get their heads tested?!

I liked it, it was way too short but from what I read David needed a wife and Jenna happens to over hear the conversation she jokes and goes on with her day. Lucky for her David has had a thing for Jenna since she started to work there. These two together are rocky at first then David realizes he wants forever with her and not short term. Recommend for a short alpha billionaire book.

I like the plot and it would've worked however the heroine being sexually experienced did not work in this trope.
Jealous possessive dominant hero only works if heroine is a virgin in my romance world.
At least the heroine was likeable else I would've Dnf'd.

Jenna and David

Fake marriage but he’s been lusting for her for 6 months. Now he’s got her and he doesn’t want a short arrangement anymore… she can’t resist this alpha who thinks she can do no wrong

I’m liking these alpha men who fall hard first!!! They don’t take no for an answer, they turn it into an “oh yes”!!!

This was a difficult book to review. A quick read, it was based around a classic, tried & tested romance premise: obscenely-rich-but-lonely man (David) needs a wife in a hurry and makes a businesslike marriage proposition to a woman he barely knows (Jenna).

As if they were connected by an invisible wire, she could feel when he watched her. And he watched her often.

And it should have worked. Lynda Chance has a delightful writing style, so many lines and quotes leapt out at me, sucking me in and helping me to identify quickly and easily with the heroine.

She usually kept ramen noodles, microwave popcorn and cups of macaroni and cheese for such occasions. The problem was, she had been having a lot of such occasions lately. Her drawer was depressingly empty.

I wanted this to work. Jenna, a lowly accountant in David’s firm, overhears a conversation in the kitchen:

She heard the door shut, the shuffle of feet and an irritated male voice. “Goddammit, let it go. What the f*** am I supposed to do, post a job opening for a wife?”

… Before she could stop herself, she heard the words that impetuously popped from her mouth. “Do I apply in HR?”

But I hated David.

She looked at the handsome blond because he was infinitely the less dangerous of the two.

Rude to the point of being obnoxious, he wasn’t so much an Alpha as a Jerk! He took her to dinner, took her to bed and then to Vegas the next day to get married. He promises to pay her a large amount of money to stay married for two years and Jenna, saddled with a massive debt from college, reluctantly agrees.

He pushed Jenna around, refused to listen to her and gave her no reason at all to like him – and then suddenly he declares he’s in love and like magic, she is too. Sorry, but I just don’t buy it. 3/5 – only because of the excellent quality of the actual writing.

3.5 - 4 HOT HOT stars

Pure erotica and out of control alpha male with a voluptuous 25 yr old rather easily dominated young woman. Chance pulls no punches in her erotica. None! But this is pure Alpha male testosterone who wants this woman and he's willing to do what he has to in order to "get her."

David is a wealthy (ha) 35 yr old man. He does what he wants when he wants and with whom he wants. He wants Jenna and on a whim based on something she said, he decides he needs a wife, and it will be her. For job purposes only. He says.

Jenna has huge college debts and he offers her $200k for 2 years. But he does it expect to be a real marriage. And he wants it bad. :):)

This is a sexy romp with a hot over the top Alpha guy and an unsure young woman who finds that having a controlling husband isn't all that bad :):)

I have been a fan of Lynda Chance since discovering e-books and "His Indecent Proposal" is the best so far. Lynda take the time to introduce the reader to Jenna and David which makes the first sex scene pop because the reader is invested in the lives of both characters. This is a story of love, masquerading as lust, at first sight and as with Lynda's other books, the hero is very Alpha - strong, sexy and possessive. I loved the characters, story, humor and of course, the hot, sexy scenes. This is a must read!

Lynda Chance's books are like the smutty version of Harlequin romances novels, which I happen to like. I do agree with the comments that it would have been great if the book were a little longer and if we got to know the characters a little better, and the hero veered into being almost clingy rather than domineering a few times, which is why I gave it four rather than five stars. But the sex scenes were hot, the hero overall was smokin' if you like domineering Alpha males, the setup/plotline was appealing, and I love HEAs.

Whoa...Lynda Chance sure pushes the boundary between a control freak man and abuser. I sure like her writing - it's pretty darned intense and steamy. I'll undoubtedly read more...pretty addicting stuff. But, I almost feel badly for enjoying it so much. No self-respecting woman would EVER let herself get into this situation, but somehow with LC's characters, it's hot stuff and therefore, more than okay! Bring on the next one!

Some hot stuff but didn't get the story as it progressed, I mean it started with great potential, and then when it got all hot and heavy, our heroine became a totally different person. She splits into two distinct people, one where she is okay and her own person and stands up to him and the other where she is a total doormat. She knows she is a doormat but gets mad at him not herself - silly girl!

This was a short story that featured a possessive alpha male. It was an entertaining story that can be read in a couple of hours. No deep emotional undercurrents, just a hot, fun story to pass a little time. If you're looking for something a little lighter that can be finished in one sitting, this is a good choice.
