Biography of one of the most colorful, some might say eccentric, people the Canadian West has thrown out who also happens to be a climber. At a time when most men are thinking of retirement from strenuous activities, Don was busy setting records: the first person to climb all the 11,000 foot peaks in the Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains and the oldest person to climb Mount Logan, Canada's highest mountain.
Apart from Don's climbing achievements, for which he received the Banff Mountain Festival's Summit of Excellence Award in 1990, Don is renowned for his idiosyncrasies which the author and Don's friends have documented in hilarious detail. [Rocky Mountain Books]
Not my usual type of book but great for those who like adventure or climbing books. Very inspirational on how it's never too late to get into anything. Don Forest will amaze you with how and what he got into in a later age of his life and continued doing for a while... Good inspiration.
This book is a beautifully crafted set of stories of a life so well lived--a life filled with love, family, caring and sharing, and above all adventure. The tales on their own are enough to captivate the reader, but woven together so thoughtfully they make a delightful read. I could not put this book down. Read it in a day :)
