We have not so much aimed to write a detailed history of the movement as to locate it in the larger history of our time and to show its influence on educational and social growth in the United States. We believe that what the National Congress of Parents and Teachers has been doing is the sort of thing that must be done by more and more groups if our culture is to maintain its integrity.
