A modern Witch accidentally becomes the reluctant guardian for an ancient mystical crystal. With the aid of a handsome actor and a mysterious spiritual guide, she uses magic, ingenuity and determination to fight a deranged billionaire for possession of the Star Stone and its power.
Best-selling author and a practicing witch Deirdre Connelly’s life is suddenly turned upside down when she finds herself with a powerful magical talisman inside her, a deranged billionaire after her, and a gorgeous actor she’d love to have on top of her.
Stewart Tyler makes Deirdre an irresistible offer: in exchange for working a simple bit of magic, she gets dinner with Robert Daniel Addison, the TV actor who’s starred in her daydreams for years. It seems like a harmless request, but the treasure her magic reveals, the otherworldly Star Stone, ends up permanently inside her instead of in the hands of the man who feels entitled to it.
Now she and Rob are unwilling guests at Tyler’s isolated Montana ranch and Deirdre must find a way to return the Stone. Or Tyler will take it back by force—over her dead body, if necessary. She must master the powers of the Star Stone before it masters her, driving her insane or bringing harm to those around her. Even the help of an unexpected spiritual guide, the Anasazi warrior who last carried the Stone, may not give her the answers to the crystal’s long-lost secrets before it’s too late. Deirdre and Rob’s feelings for each other grow despite the magic and mayhem, but it hard to make a move on a guy when you keep setting him on fire. In the end, Deirdre must choose between fighting a battle she may not win and putting her trust in the magical stone that will leave her life forever changed

Witch Ever Way You Can (Star Stone) is a delightful, fast-paced romantic suspense. Deborah Blake introduces us to Deirdre Connelly, best selling author and a practicing witch. This spunky heroine uses magic, determination and integrity to counter a deranged billionaire’s attempt to possess the Star Stone.
Deirdre receives an intriguing proposition from billionaire, Stewart Tyler. Dinner with Robert Daniel Addison, TV actor and her longtime crush, in return for a tiny bit of magic seems like a harmless deal. But when the result of her magic embeds Stewart’s prized Star Stone permanently inside her, her life turns upside down.
Stewart believes the stone and its power rightfully belongs to him. Deirdre and Rob find themselves unwilling detainees at the billionaire’s secluded Montana ranch until Deirdre can discover a way to return the ancient artifact to him. As time and Stewart’s temper run short, an Anasazi warrior becomes her spiritual mentor. But is it too late for her to learn to the stone’s secrets, or will Stewart kill her first? Throughout the ordeal, Rod is by her side and their feelings for each other grow even when she sets his shirt on fire. All their struggles together come down to a choice. Deirdre must decide either to fight Stewart and possibly lose her life, or to trust the power of the stone and change her life forever.
Thank you, Ms. Blake for a witty, riveting romantic suspense.
I really liked this book. It was a fast-paced adventure with a surprising hero, an enterprising villain, and a really likeable, down-to-earth heroine.
It starts with an ultra-wealthy man asking Deirdre, a witch with psychic powers, to come to his home to do a spell. The sum of money he waves in front of her convinces her (as does the bait - a date with a hunky movie star), and she is picked up and brought to New York.
There's this box, you see, that needs to be opened. Something of rare value is inside, and the ultra-wealthy guy wants it.
But - as happens when you play around with spells and what not, everything goes awry...and the reason Deirdre and the hunky movie star can't have sex is totally believeable and totally giggle-worthy. This book was a joy to read.
no lie, i was real nervous when the main chick met her hollywood crush and they were the hero and heroine. but my fear of a mary sue were soon put to rest. i really enjoyed the story, especially the history of the star stone. But Deidre is also pretty kick ass and she her cleverness and resilance are what really make the book. Worth a read and a reread for sure!
Deborah Blake brings a strong, fresh, witty voice to paranormal adventures! Best selling Deirdre Connolly gets a late night call from a billionaire business tycoon who makes her a strange offer: in exchange for a date with a handsome actor, one for whom she cherishes a not-so-secret crush, to meet with him to perform a spell.
Intrigued and cautious, she accepts the offer. The charming actor, Rob Addison is just as charming in person with the added benefit of being protective of her and charmed by her. The magical spell transforms itself into a page-turning adventure as Deidre and Rob work together to protect the magic that comes into their protection.
Well written, exciting and enthralling. The character of Deidre is a skilled witch, a funny woman who cracks wise, and feels like an good friend. The story is fast-paced, original, fresh, and exciting right down to the last period on the last page. I highly reccomend this books and eagerly await Blake's next fiction book or story! Read it, you'll be entertained all the way through.
Deborah Blake, my friend and fellow Betty, has self published her first novel! (She's published several non-fiction books on witchcraft through Llewellyn.) I've heard lots of good things about Witch Ever Way You Can-- it won the 2009 Emily "Best of the Best" among other honors-- and I can't wait to read it!
Nice light reading on the plane trip home from Boston. I enjoyed the characters, though I didn't understand why our heroine didn't take action sooner. She could have stopped the investigation much sooner and should have realized how ruthless her client was. The ending was also somewhat contrived. Someone as ruthless as this man wouldn't suddenly see the light.
I hope there is a sequel, other than the short story that came next.
This book was a great read--exciting and funny, and it moved along very well. I immediately resonated with the main character, mainly because of her movie-quoting geekiness, but also because she was a witch--gotta love a book with witchy themes, not to mention a romance tucked in, as well. Plus, I always give kudos to an author who makes ma laugh! I am looking forward to reading her next book.
What a great book. Serious take on witchcraft, some awesome paranormal and Native American magic, and a crazy billionaire who is so messed up he screws up his whole life. Definitely worth the read!!!
"Uh Oh" (lol, inner voice) looks like Ms Blake has another fantastic book, that I've fallen in love with! I'd eagerly read more stories featuring these characters!!
