Thea and Edric have been in a terrible car accident, leaving the vampire unharmed but Thea in a coma. In the days following Edric must come to terms with his true feelings for Thea. We look at the weekend preceding the accident: Thea wants a quiet weekend away from the vampire community she has fallen into and chooses Block Island as her destination. On the ferry she meets Ted, a man who harbors a deep secret and who has come the Block Island to end a lifelong curse of torment. But he isn't the only one: a band of four vampires will stop at nothing to get to Ted and will go through Thea to get to him. Luckily, Edric had the sense to follow her onto the ferry; he is their only hope for survival as they search through the graveyard to find the one item who will release Ted, all the while fighting for their lives, and possibly the lives of the entire human race.
