Ryohgo Narita (成田 良悟, Narita Ryōgo) is a Japanese light novelist. He won the Gold Prize in the 9th Dengeki Novel Prize for Baccano!, which was made into a TV anime in 2007.[1] His series Durarara!! was also made into a TV anime, which began airing January 2010
There are two traits found in most of Narita's works: * Narita writes extremely fast, one volume a month if he wishes - with tons of spelling errors and missing words as a tradeoff. The editors like to leave them sometimes just for fun, though. * His work titles often have an exclamation mark at the end (i.e. Baccano!, Vamp!, Durarara!!, etc.).
This is the way the 1700s arc ends. Not with a whimper but with a bang.
The Advena Avis is arriving to whisk our beloved alchemists away for the faithful event that will grant them immortality. And they all have their own motivations for wanting to go on that ship. Like the pursuit of knowledge, love or simply an escape from the tragedy that is their normal life. But one person in particular has evil thoughts running through his mind.
Before the ship even arrives, the town of Lotto Valentino finds itself under attack. A mysterious bomber is setting off explosions all over town. And there are plenty of suspects.
The events leading up to the departure of the Advena Avis have been ridiculously good and truly manage to showcase what makes Baccano so great as a series. It has a fascinating setting. The narrative structure always takes you on a wild ride with all the different plot threads expertly coming together in a satisfying conclusion. It features an intriguing mystery that will keep you guessing. It features cool and over the top action scenes. But the real heart of Baccano? It’s the characters. This series has a vast and wealthy cast of unique, well fleshed out and interesting characters. I absolutely love that every book manages to put a spotlight on a few characters, makes their individual stories collide or come together and always leaves you begging for more. This story takes a look at the consequences of the events of the previous story set in the 1700s. And how much it changed the characters involved. It also firmly establishes one person as the biggest villain of the whole series.
One of the best books of the series. It’s got some memorable twists and a very strong, heartbreaking, satisfying and exciting ending. The 1700s books have really taken the series to a whole new level.
One year after Monica's death, Lotto Valentino was a ticking time bomb about to explode. Nikki's tragedy. Fermet's scheming. Elmer's antics. A brother's hatred. A man changed after the event one year ago. The mask maker's re-appearance. The bombing of the aristocrats' manors. The arrival of a most peculiar house of Dormentoire's persona. The advent of Advenna Avis. The curtain that open the play of the greatest tragedy ever.
Like all the previous Bacano Volumes and actually any novel by Ryohgo Narita, it's a complicated read. baccano is different from most series in that the timeline jumps from various eras. That said, it's still a fun series with lots of different interesting characters. In this volume the Alchemist burn their bridges in Italy and finally set off for America. All of the Major players from the roaring bootleg period are here and a new villian a guy who it is hinted at will play a big role in the next final volumes.
