Bubba the Monster Hunter returns in a love story for the ages! Okay, not really. But there are big guns, bar fights, cheap women, cheaper beer, even cheaper one-liners, and a six-foot tiger taking a leak on a headstone. No really, that last part happened.
John G. Hartness is a teller of tales, a righter of wrong, defender of ladies’ virtues, and some people call him Maurice, for he speaks of the pompatus of love.
He is also the award-winning author of the urban fantasy series The Black Knight Chronicles (Bell Bridge Books), the Bubba the Monster Hunter comedic horror series, the Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter dark fantasy series, and many other projects.
In 2016, John teamed up with a pair of other publishing industry ne’er-do-wells and founded Falstaff Books, a small press dedicated to publishing the best of genre fictions “misfit toys.” In his copious free time John enjoys long walks on the beach, rescuing kittens from trees and playing Magic: the Gathering.

Oh Bubba. Going up in the world are you? A story without a titty bar, but with a monster with a long a$$ name from a foreign country. What next? Eating something other than takeout and Mexican food?
Not that it matters. Not with monsters when love is involved. Somethings going to need a killin'. So grab a beer, a gun, and this story ... Bubba is goin' hunting.
Note: Story is included in the "Scattered, Smothered, & Chunked" (Bubba year 1) - if you don't want to buy the first 12 shorts separately. Available in eBook, Audio, Hardback, and paperback formats. I've read it in eBook and paperback format.
The best of the Bubba stories so far. Not surprising, it has a monster I've never heard of: the rakshasa from India. More importantly, there was a good twist with this one, but it still ended in proper Bubba fashion. I hope I get more like this. The last time I got a 5-star story, I went straight back to a 3-star one.
Kindle Unlimited Going through the entire Bubba the Monster Hunter collections and not sure if the boy is on drugs or should be...but he makes real interesting reading...and a little wonder if his mama dropped him on his head, hard, repeatedly, on purpose, bless his heart. But John G be sure to tell Bubba if he's ever back down this way to holler;I bet that boy is more fun than wrasslin' a pig...a supernatural no bitey one of course. P.S. Come on down, and we'll shoot or set something on fire, darlin'. **all books listed this way are part of either Season 1, Season 2, or Season 3

You know what? I think Bubba is more of a dog person. :-) This might be my favorite Bubba story yet. Bubba is a snarky riot all by himself, but Greg (our feline baddie) ratchets things up and nearly steals the show. If you haven't read any of the Bubba short stories, these are goldmines of irreverent hilarity. (FUN!) Start with Voodoo Children - A Bubba the Monster Hunter Short Story.
Truthfully when I started reading this series I thought I would hate it. I mean "Bubba" conjures up a certain image that is not flattering. Of course the author was counting on people thinking the same thing. Bubba however uses people's preconceived notions of a hillbilly redneck to his advantage. Add in Skeeter as his best friend and it just works. It gets corny and crass, but totally owns up to knowing they are skirting the line.
I own the collection “Scattered, Smothered and Chunked”.
By now is should be noted that I am a fan of this series. I do not know the author personally, I just love these snarky paranormal detective short stories. This one has Bubba befriending and partnering up with the most unlikely of characters, in a bit of mystery with a touch of a broken heart. I recommend this series to readers of paranormal detective shorts.
