It's winter 1991, 8:37pm, a loud alarm sounds at a military early warning radar station as a couple of UFOs are detected over the northern part of the UK. They demonstrate operational capabilities far beyond anything we could produce. Major Dan Strange and Professor Lucy Compton from DI55 (Aerospace Intelligence) are called in to investigate. Neither of them could have even imagined how the night would unfold.
The back-cover 'Blurb': November 1991. One of the biggest UFO ‘Flaps’ in recorded history was about to occur in the skies over northern Europe. To the casual observer it was just another cold dark miserable night in the north east of England.
At Sentinel CC, a secret military early warning radar surveillance station located on the Yorkshire moors, far from prying eyes, the 12 hour night shift, 6pm to 6am had started two and a half hours ago, and as usual, was as boring as watching geological change. Everyone hated the night shift, nothing ever happened, ever, then suddenly at 20:37 Zulu a loud ‘Two Tone’ alarm sounded …………
Excerpt: 'Sentinel Charlie Charlie, this is Speedbird 235, we can see your two aircraft...can't make out the type, very bright red, wait a sec...yes, very red...changing from scarlet to crimson, there may be some blue and green in there as well...the colours are continually changing as I'm speaking...can't really make out the shape...wait...they're getting closer...stand by...looks like they are quite long flattish looking platforms...one is a couple of hundred feet above the other. The colours are changing all the time, still predominantly red...very, very bright.' The audio from the speaker crackled. 'They're getting closer, should we be worried?'
I was born in London England and moved to Australia in the mid nineties as I couldn't find a parking space anywhere in the UK. And it was raining.
Having lived and worked around Europe and Australia I currently live on the southern edge of the city of Perth in the state of Western Australia. Here there are plenty of parking spaces, and the sky is almost perpetually blue.
The picture was taken at the entrance to Fremantle prison. Not that I was an inmate, appearances really can be deceptive, honest.
I have read, seen and heard quite a bit on the subject of UFOs. I read the same stories and the same questions over and over again, are aliens really visiting the planet and if so why? And why don't we have any good pictures of them?
I believe 99% of what is put forward as 'truth' about this subject is absolute nonsense. That said, I do think there is something to it, the remaining 1% is very, very interesting.
This author truly knows how to write a description...measurements, lighting, speeds, etc. Almost unbelievable intricate details about everything with little left to the imagination. If I'd had to read about matt black, satin black and amber just a few more times...I wouldn't have been responsible for my actions. I started the book on Monday and today (Wednesday), my husband had some minor surgery and we were at the hospital from 9:30 this morning until 7:30 this evening and with nothing else to keep me busy I was able to finish the book today...luckily because I was really close to giving up on it. Quick summary...UK military spots UFO, American military acts like a bunch of idiots, UK keeps their heads and are invited to meet with the aliens, rectify all their misconceptions about historic mysterious happenings previously blamed on aliens and go for a UFO ride. Yep...truly a strange encounter.
