The President's Girlfriend #3

Dutch and Gina: A Scandal is Born

Rate this book
President Walter “Dutch” Harber and his African-American wife Gina thought the birth of their child and the exposure of those seeking to bring their marriage to its knees would have meant blissful times ahead for the interracial couple. But they quickly discover that their enemies have other plans, and blissfulness is the last thing they are about to experience.

It all begins when the couple refuses to parade their child in front of cameras or release any photos in a concerted effort to keep him out of the limelight. A scandal erupts where Dutch’s paternity is called into question and where Gina is accused of not only engaging in illicit affairs inside the White House, but of criminal wrongdoing as well.

Their marriage, once rock solid, begins to feel the strain of too many battles, too many lies and innuendo, too many people seeking to tear apart a couple that refuses to play political games or live by anybody else’s compass. And when the bombardment becomes too much, when Gina is castigated for simply being herself and is hauled before Congress to give answer to scurrilous attacks on her character, Dutch takes matters into his own hands. And when all is said and done, none of them, not Dutch, not Gina, not even their baby boy, will ever be the same again.

In the third installment of the President’s Girlfriend series, the strong-willed couple is confronted by enemies from within and without that not only strains their marriage to the breaking point, but causes their own child to get caught in the blowback.

I loved this. I didn't think I could possibly hate Liz any more. Maybe they will fire her now. She's not great at security anyway. For Lala, I'm team Christian all the way. She deserves a sweet guy.

My heart stayed in my throat

They wanted to take her down a peg or two. How dare she be this independent well educated black woman? Doesn't she know her place? Living in the fishbowl of the Beltway has finally tried to take its toll on Gina and Dutch. They couldn't get rid of him so now they are trying to take Gina down to get to him. Once they get through one catastrophe, then another one happens. They are just waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Poor LaLa, she just can't seem to fall for the right man. But I think Crader is ready to make a change. He's so embarrassed. I can't say the same for Max Brennan. He still wants revenge, why I don't know. MAN... Dutch isn't gonna leave Gina for you! He needs to get that through his thick skull.

These exes still haven't learned. Why Nurse Riley let herself get caught up in her niece's shenanigans I don't know. Is she that desperate for the love of family? Now, she's really gonna pay for listening to Caroline.

Boy, the ups and downs of this storyline had my emotions on a roller coaster. Good writing Mallory. You are one of my faves.

My Favorite part of the book: “I mean exactly what I said. If this Congress would have bothered to do its homework and simply ask a few simple questions, you would have known those facts yourselves. But instead, you chose to play politics and jump on the Trash the First Lady train. Well, the train stops here, Mr. Chairman. You and your committee, and anybody else who believe that they can drag my wife’s good name through the mud, can call that good Christian lady a whore and a crackhead and any other derogatory name you can find it in your hearts to call her, and expected me to sit back and let you do it, doesn’t know me very well.”

Gina wanted to shout amen, but she was too riveted to the TV.

“The days of bashing my wife, my family, are over,” Dutch continued. “We refuse to participate in our own destruction. I will not parade her nor my child before you or anybody else. Not now nor ever. We will not give answer to any more of these scurrilous attacks, I don’t care what direction they come from. You can believe an alien birth my child, I don’t give a damn anymore. You can believe my wife is a socialist/Marxist/communist, everything the worst human being ever created could ever be, I couldn’t care less. Believe it as much of that garbage as you care to believe.”

Dutch made a point of making eye contact with each committee member when he said this. “You can castigate me until my presidency is crippled with castigation,” he went on, and I still wouldn’t care. And I still won’t give you what you ultimately want and resign. The Harber family will never quit to appease our enemies even though we hate every hour of every minute of every day of this fishbowl existence. But we will never quit. And if you don’t like my resolve, if the American people or the world at large find me arrogant and getting a little too ahead of myself, then tough. To hell with them too! Impeach me if you find me incompetent. Kick me out of the White House if you find me that objectionable. You’ll be doing me a favor, to tell you the truth. But don’t ever again expect me or my wife or our precious son to aid and abet in your hate.”

Then Dutch exhaled, his body racked with tension. “Are there any more questions?” he asked.

Crazy! Man was this a crazy ride that just kept getting better. I can go without "fishbowl" and "gyrating" for the rest of the series but this was filled with nothing but drama. Okay, this one was really centered around a joke Gina told and everyone and anyone jumping on to make it worse then it was. Then Crader is introduced and he's a beast and doesn't hold back when right is concerned. Max shows his silly tail in more ways then one with what he's up to. We get Liz in the picture who from the jump is caught being messy as ever. Add on the ex and her foolishness and you have one good read. Plus the ending...the ending...man! It just leaves you wondering what in the world is going to happen. Enjoyed this one have to read the next.

Same old same old! Each of the stories had a redundant theme. One of Dutch's exes wants him and will do whatever is necessary to hurt him or discredit his wife. And how many women has Dutch slept with? Sheesh, he gets around! Gina should be afraid to have sex with him!! Also, ediiting is badly needed. I was glad that Max finally got his in this book and I loved the way Dutch stood up for Gina to show everyone that they were a united front no matter what came their way. I also loved the way Gina always stayed true to who she was and didn't conform to please others. Overall, this was an OK read. Hopefully, the next book has a different plot. I'm tired of the exes.

Holly Hannah!!! What are they doing to Dutch &Gina?

Betrayals all around them, deep betrayals. How can they survive these lies? Will their love and marriage survive? All of this because of their baby boy? Whew!! This was definitely a roller coaster ride! When the president has had enough of the BS and shows up in congress in response to a congressional hearing, all hell breaks lose and no prisoners are taken in this no holds barred confrontation. WOW😳🤗🤗

I must say that by book 3 Dutch is starting to annoy me. His reputation of “wam bam harbour” just leaves me waiting on him to be unfaithful. He hasn’t but has gotten aroused by women who aren’t Gina. I doubt he will be unfaithful but I’m not enjoying questioning him his faithfulness as I continue this series

Dutch & Gina

Will they ever stop trying to bring down the Harber Administration and destroying his and Gina’s marriage. Not if Dutch has anything to say about. Enjoying rereading this series like it’s the first time.

The birth of a child is always a joyous one, but for Dutch and Gina, there’s no rest for the weary. Their son’s paternity was questioned. It’s one crisis or the other. The other women did not go away either. Geez…

This book was not as over-the-top dramatic as the last one. I like that. I enjoyed this story. Gina and Dutch put up with a lot of crap. I seriously hope real Presidents and First Ladies don't have this much drama in their daily lives.

The best part of the book was when Dutch put his foot down and refused to send his wife to a pack of wolves. The WTF moment for me came when Liz did what she did to Crader. I don't remember much about Liz from the previous book, but she was portrayed as classy and beautiful. What she did with Crader was so low class and out of character. I hope she's not in cahoots with Caroline.

the the the 3rd book in the Dutch and Gina series and in it did not disappoint, the book was a fast read and great. Dutch and Gina have a son and refuse to show him in public so the rumor starts that this must not be the presidents son especially after they finally do post pictures and the baby is not as light as the public thinks the should be, the books show the reason behind Max hating Gina and LaLa get to move on in her life somewhat. it also shows how Dutch protects his wife, the book was great ...

i feel like they go through so damn much, that is almost unreal. The writer makes DC into such a crazy place impossible situations happening all the damn time. Not to mention Dutch is "the guy everyone wants".

This is an additive soap opera series about a First Family with more than their share of trouble. The poor beleaguered First Lady...it's an interesting scenario given the politics of today.
