Man i was kind of hyped for this but it’s definitely not what I was hoping for …the story felt flat ,the push and pull was really annoying at some points and how their „relationship“, or whatever you want to call that, started was also kinda of messed up. At least the drawings were nice and it gets a plus for the yokai theme :,)
not a lick of romance. there was an attempt, but no chemistry between the characters whatsoever. at one point, i wasn’t even aware of what i was reading. quite literally just looking at words on pages and flipping through pictures until i got to the end.
Although I'm sure I've read something with a similar premise before, I enjoyed this a lot. It was the right balance between cute and angsty, with themes beyond romance. I loved seeing these two outsiders find each other. And I always adore BLs with animal ears. 😍
They have their first time together. 4,5 stars bcs the finale is a bit uncertain since they have different lifespans, the uke 9 tailed fox is a yokai, and seme is a 19 years old human. There were some scene that were kinda dub con(from both of them), but no real rape and there was no cheating.

"Feigning Fox with a Face Full of Flowers" is the perfect BL manga if you are looking for a quick, low-stakes read with beautiful art and to learn a bit about Japanese folklore at the same time. (I loved how Kazune had his fox mannerisms even when he was in his human form.)
The supernatural is used as an allegory to talk about discrimination, but this story touches on plenty of other heavier themes, such as grief, societal pressure, family estrangement, insecurity and miscommunication in a romantic relationship.
The only thing that took me out of this story was Ken's jealousy over Kazune's and his grandfather's relationship. "I'll be even more gentle than Gramps" sure is a cursed thing to say in an intimate moment. Japan, ya'll outfreak me, and not always in a good way. And why can't anyone in a manga communicate??? In and out of bed? Explicit consent is hot af! I'm tired of seeing bottoms saying "no" and being ignored. That ruins the reading experience for me.
I loved everything else about this book, particularly at the end when all the magical creatures came to help Ken find Kazune, like a princess in a fairytale, and then they finally TALKED!!!!
In summary, Kazune deserves everything good in the world; everyone else deserves shit, unless they are nice to Kazune.
it was...fine? It didnt deliver how I wanted it to really. There wasnt much plot, and the plot was delivered in a bit of a weird order. I found myself filling in the gaps with what id like to have happened so...eh.
It did try to explore some other themes and it was ok for a bit of entertainment.
Una historia rapida de leer, es muy corta, estuvo entretenido, si me gustaria que tuviera un epilogo mas extendido para ver como mejora su relacion pero esta bien
Main characters have no chemistry, plot is underbaked, there's multiple rape/assault scenes, the title is stupid, the art isn't good, both main characters are annoying and don't act like real people... PICK A STRUGGLE!! PICK A DAMN STRUGGLE!!!
It's just a very poorly plotted story. The author doesn't have a real grasp on the characters personalities so they oscillate between screaming in misunderstanding and blushing at each other and the reader is left confused as to why they're having such strong reaches to each other when nothing that's happened warrants that level of response. Nothing of substance happens in the story because the author clearly didn't plot anything beyond "sexy fox yokai and generic man have relations" and spends the rest of the pages sort of fumbling around the idea of a plot and sad backstory without actually making an effort to do something with either. Both the generic man and fox yokai hint at deeper issues and emotional distress but by god is the story only going to make the most obvious, uninteresting choices in what to do next. The plot, the conflict and the side characters are just filler to get to the poorly orchestrated sex scenes that aren't enjoyable because they always happen because of anger and misunderstanding with a side of never getting to actual sex because they keep running away. Have I said misunderstandings enough? That is the entirety of this story because that's the only way the author can "extend" the story.
There is no individuality to the characters; the author can't even really manage to keep the character's personalities/choices consistent throughout a single chapter and the book is only 6 chapters long. The generic man ends up falling for the fox yokai for no other reason than sometimes he's cute, even though the fox demon sexually assaults him on their first meeting and wails on and on about the guy's grandfather and yet simultaneously indicates he needs to have sex with generic man in order to live. The main conflict of the story appears out of nowhere, baffling in its intensity in chapter 3 despite spending the previous chapters meandering through the sketch of a plot and concludes just as ambiguously and in a completely unsatisfying way. The author can't even manage to make the make up sex very good. They admit their feelings and then every is somehow wrapped up without ever actual resolving the conflict.
It's just not a well done story. I don't recommend purchasing this one, you're going to be left scratching your head as to what was the point of this mess.
Takeru is visiting his grandfather's old home when he meets Kazune in a rather unusual fashion. From the flashbacks we see later on, it seems they may have met much earlier, but it's unclear if either of them remember or realize that it's the same individual. Takeru is afraid Kazune only sees his grandfather, while also struggling with being different in the same way his grandfather was - resulting in the rest of the family thinking that they are crazy, though everyone around him can see Kazune just fine when he comes home with him. It's rather confusing to tell when someone should or should not be able to see or hear something Takeru does, though it also seems perhaps some of his perception has strengthened a bit since Kazune entered his life. These two come together through some very unusual odds, but in reality both just want to be loved and no longer be lonely.

Thank you to Edelweiss for the E-copy! This E-copy was sent to me in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this! The character dynamics, the Yokai lore, the city and countryside setting, plus the twisted familial relationships-I enjoyed every bit of it. Even the spicy scenes were so good! Well put together and stunning art, as well. I haven't read many BL stories involving Yokai, but I think this might have kickstarted my interest because I think authors can do a lot of different storylines with them. This author did a phenomenal job with it!
I feel like I would’ve liked this storyline more if it was 2 or 3 volumes long, instead of just a one-shot story. The romance between Kazune and Takeru starts off questionable but I was able to warm up to their dynamic as things progressed. However I really wished there was more showing Takeru’s dynamic with all of his family, as well as, showing more of Kazune and Takeru’s grandfather’s dynamic.
The art is beautiful, loved it, but that’s about all I liked about this manga sadly. The plot was very disconnected, the characters didn’t have much chemistry or communication whatsoever. I was confused for most of the manga and I can only blame that so much on the translation I read and the lack of flow throughout the plot :///
I keep trying with the yaoi and I keep being disappointed. This one has really pretty art and I love youkai and kitsune, but I think it got lost in translation. Some things were paced weird and some sentences didn’t make sense. I was kind of unsure about what was actually going on.
CW: SA, explicit, nudity, sexual content, blood, grief
I think I expected more drama with the gramps and yokai relationship, and I absolutely thought Shogo was gonna make all the moves on Takeru to make Kazune jelly. The story is not that and events played out differently. It's an okay read.
How the flip do you DNF a short manga? I couldn’t stand the assault, plot, personalities, “ChEmIStrY,” or characters so I stopped reading halfway through.
I swear I've read this before. I vividly remember like most of what happened. This was okay. I didn't really care for the relationship and the plot was kind of meh.
