I already reviewed the New Testament version of this commentary that was given to me by a friend, after a few years I bought this Old Testament version which is also good and appears for the most part to be doctrinally sound

I have found this commentary and its companion, Bible Knowledge Commentary: New Testament, a good source for basic Bible information. Not a detailed commentary, but a good basic source.
